Visualize the weight lost - it really helped me!

Quote  |  Reply

Hello everyone,

Wanted to share this way of really feeling and seeing what you've lost so far. The other day I was carrying my sweet little baby niece. She weighed about 7-8 pounds. It suddenly occurred to me that this, this that I'm holding in my hands right now, is  the amount of fat (maybe not all fat) that I've lost! A child!

I just did it again at 12 pounds. This time it was the weight of my fully packed gym bag. All that! Gone! It's a fantastic feeling, and I hope that if you try it you'll be equally motivated to keep going.

5 pounds or 50, I'm sure it'll work for you!

This is so awesome!!! I've lost a bag of rice! Seriously great idea.

When I first started, and was disappointed that I had "only" lost a pound, I found looking at a pound box of butter really helped put it in perspective.  Now that I have lost a lot of weight, I look at the pile of food I am donating to the food bank (65 pounds) and can't believe that I used to lug that around on my body.  By the time I get to goal at the end of next year, I will have lost the equivalent of an entire adult woman!  Amazing to think of in more concrete ways.

I was doing lat pull downs at the gym at 85 pounds, which is exactly what I lost and...man, I was having a difficult time. XD It was really weird to think that I was carrying that and didn't feel it.

dkenworthy:  I read about the charity drive method. It's amazing and great! It beats this one flat because it includes giving.

jaefuma: that's how I felt too. Me? Carrying around all that? No wonder my joints started hurting!

bethym: a bag of rice! yay!

It'll be funny to see all the 'things' we've lost.

What a great way of looking at the lost pounds.  I've lost 23 pounds and I'm going to look for a 23 pound turkey to bring to the food bank.

Thanks for the inspiration.

visualization is a really powerful tool, you should use it for anything you want to achieve in life it really helps.

Last month I lost a small (not miniture) pumpkin!! -6.5 lbs.

I've already been doing this...I set my mini-goals by how much something weighs.  For example, those big jugs of water that you can hardly lift up to put on the water dispenser machine - those are 43 pounds.  I was so excited to think that I had lost that much!  I, too, couldn't believe that I carried that weight around all day every day.  I'm at 53 pounds now, and am finding it hard to find a 70ish item to aim for.  Any suggestions???

Thanks for the post!

I lost my 8 year old son. I have carried him on my back and just marveled at the fact that I used to walk around with that 24/7.

I found this on a blog!..Quite creative Laughing

What have you lost!?

imanie: Laughing

bubbles: above 35 pounds will be tough to find one thing. Try two 35 pound things? or as dkenworthy does - 53 x 1 pound bags of flour to donate to the food bank!

Ok, Now I have lost the weight of a newborn baby - 7.5 lbs!!! THIS IS GREAT!! (my second daughter weighed 7.25 lbs.)

Haha, oh my god, a two-month-old horse. That made me laugh out loud just now. I really like your list, imanie.

I hope this doesn't offend anyone but a friend of mine used to say, when I had lost 45 lbs, that I had lost half an Asian. ;) It was funny because my friend Jing is about 110 lbs so when my weight loss hit 55 lbs I started telling people I had lost half a Jing. She thought it was funny!
