La vita e bella (A beautiful life)

I just saw this movie last night, and it might be the best I have ever watched. Roberto Beningi is a genius. During the second half there is simultaneous hilarious comedy and incredible horror and tragedy.

got ripped off at the oscars though. easily should have been best picture of the year.

But he did win best actor.  Who can forget the chair jumping in excitement?

This is one of my all time favorite movies.

Chair jumping.  Instead of walking down the aisle, he sort of clambered over people sitting in chairs.

Have you seen Amelie??  That is also in my top list of all time favorite movies. 

has anyone seen pan's labyrinth? i heard its really good?

Pan's Labyrinth was amazing. I would definitley suggest watching it.

yay! glad to meet some other film fans, especially the kind that aren't bent out of shape if a film happens to be foreign. 

here's a new one to check out - La Vie en Rose - just saw it at the local art cinema.  it's about edith piaf's life.

Adored life is beautiful.  Can't wait to see la vie en rose.

I love these movies! Has anyone seen The Devil's Backbone?

Lol, confusingly enough, there is another French movie called Ma Vie en Rose, as opposed to La Vie en Rose (Which I would like to see! I love Edith Piaf!!) It's about a little boy that thinks he is a girl...It's so..amazing...I was crying at the end of it; it was very emotionally moving--to me atleast.

That sounds like a really great movie, I think Ill check it out sometime!
Is it well known? Would I be able to find it in a local video rental? Or should I just get it online?
