I apologise if this may sound stupid but im thinking about giving Vitamin B Complex a go but im a little skeptical about them at the moment. They are supposed to boost your metabolism right?? So would they have the same side affects as say..'diet pills' once you stop taking them? Like ruin your metabolism..
Thank
B vitamins are used as coenzyme/cofactor in a number of biological reactions (the summation of all biochemical reactions = your metabolism). If you are missing them, those reactions cannot occur... which, I guess, means they could "boost" your metabolism.
But in general, you need to be flat out DEFICIENT in these vitamins for supplements to have any effect. Not to mention that you are likely getting plenty of these vitamins in your diet. They are found in TONS of foods, and typically added in fortified products. Unless you are a malnourished alcoholic (Vit B1, aka thiamine) or a Vegan not eating a balanced diet (Vit B12), you are unlikely to need a supplement.
And taking a supplement of these vitamins is nothing like taking a diet pill. You pretty much pee out anything your body isn't using as a cofactor. Which is why American pee is some of the most expensive pee in the world.
Ok thanks, i was thinking about taking them as im lacking energy lately, and also they apparently help with healthy hair & skin which cant be bad
sometimes I take them for pms. They seem to help. Once I tried taking them other times of the month too but I got cranky. :)
this is really helpful. Thanks!
I take a B - complex daily....its because of low B vitamin in my blood...however, as stated earlier if you dont need them dont take them....your doctor can run a blood work up and determine if its really necessary...
