Vitamin + Fiber beverage to maintain?

Quote  |  Reply

For the past week I've been taking a vitamin supplement with about a 12 oz glass of water or coffee, with approximately 6-8 grams of fiber in it within 2 hours of waking up.

I've noticed that I either don't get hunger "pangs" anymore, or they are extremely reduced in intensity.  That is, before I "NEEDED" to eat, now its more like I "could" eat, but if I don't it isn't like an overwhelming thing I cant control.  Before if I went too long with no food I felt hungry in my stomach in a sort of "sharp" way, now it's like a sort of "dull" way, actually allowing me to forget about eating or food, and then having to remind myself it's time for food.

It's really awesome because it allows me to stop worrying about calorie counting.

Is it the vitamin supplement or the fiber?  Does fiber in a liquid affect your hunger all day (I'd think it'd pass through your stomach quickly)?

Does anyone else have anything similar?

It is probably the fibre.  However, what I'd suggest is that you look to increase the fibre content and reduce the sugar content of the rest of your food if you struggle with extreme hunger pangs.   Choose good quality wholefoods to achieve the same level of satisfaction.  Hunger pangs are often a function of low blood-sugars so also make sure you're getting enough energy (calories) and that you're eating regularly rather than masking the fact that you need to eat with a fibre drink.
