too many vitamins?

are having too many vitamins really that bad for you?
i want to try this other multivatamin for its beneifts but i also want to keep taking my own for he stuff the other lack?
would that be harmful? what can be signs of harm?

Only need to be really concerned about the  fat soluable vitamins - the others just wash out of your system. 

My general understanding is that it takes a really obsene amount to get to where it is dangerous.

The FDA REQUIREMENTS ARE MINIMUMS to keep you from getting sick - not what you need to be at optimum health.
i don't think it's dangerous. i'd be more concerned about getting an imbalance from the vitamins that are actually getting absorbed, it's all such a delicate cycle. i would stop your old ones for now, and just see how the new ones work for you.
the only one I know to be dangerous (there might be others) is iron if you take a couple multi-vitamins with 100% and eat fortified foods or lots of red meat you could get sick.
