Can you take to much? I havent experienced any problems but Im just wondering.
I take these Optisource 'Post Bariatric' surgery chewable vitamins, even tho I've never had any kind of surgery :P My mom used to take them after her gastric bypass and I figured if they were suggested for her for gastric bypass, then it should be pretty good for everyday use aswell.

I usually take at least 6-7 of these a day as well as taking a vitamin C supplement. So is this a bad thing to do? :P
Ive heard that the daily values on food and items are usually the MINIMUM you should have. So I'm thinkin maybe its a good idea, but I also remember from my college chemistry class my prof talked about kidney stones occuring when people take to many minerals than what they can process, so am I likely to get kidney stones from taking this much? and would making sure I get plenty of water nullify that worry?
:P just wonderin...
Edit: also a bit of a side note: I havent been sick a single day since Ive started taking loads of vitamins ( its been a while and I havent had any kidney stones, the question whether its a good idea to take this much has just been on my mind for a while just wanna make sure I'm not killing my kidneys :P)

Do the directions say you can take 6-7 a day? That sounds like an awful lot to me! All of the vitamins I've ever taken have said to take only one a day, that's why I ask.
Your body will take what it needs, so you end up peeing out the excess of such vitamins as B and C, but taking too much of other vitamins like A and D can be harmful. I googled "vitamin overdose" and found this. It's really best to get your vitamins from the foods you eat and only rely on vitamins as a backup.
Hope this helps!

No, Im pretty much takin double what it says to ;o but it looks like from that site that I'm still far from overdosing on the ones they have listed.
You may have some stomach or bowel irritation from that much vitamin C. Vitamin C is ascorbic acid, so taking a huge amount of it can upset your stomach. Over time, six multivitamins plus a C supplement may be enough to cause that! Also, vitamins A and E are fat-soluble, so your body doesn't flush them out easily (even when you drink lots of water), so large doses of them over time can be bad, too. Linus Pauling (the Nobel laureate) used to ingest a whole handful of ascorbic acid every day; biochemists today concur that it was a bad idea!
I have to agree with sslavoff; it can definitely take a toll on your liver, trying to process all those vitamins and minerals.
If you are taking 7 of these per day, I really fear you may be doing yourself damage. Studies of some vitamins like A, B and E have shown that rather than increasing longevity, taking supplements may actually reduce it. Take one a day if you must. But really you need to stop taking the 7.
I think some of you guys never heard that no more than 15% of synthetic vitamins and minerals get absorbed by the body at once. I'm taking two multivitamin & mineral tablets a day that cover 100% of all vitamins and a substancial amount of minerals (including iron) and I'm feeling more than fine.
Why not just ask your doc?
because I'd have to make an appointment and I'm lazy. You realize you just asked a guy why he doesnt just ask a doctor right? Pretty sure thats the same thing as a guy asking for directions.
