Are vitamins suggested for healthy weight loss?
I've never really gotten a solid answer on that.
I'd suggest vitamins for health nutrition. The only way I can see them helping with weight loss is that you won't get food cravings from vitamin deficiency.
Well, vitamins are pretty much essential for life, so yeah, they're pretty vital for health :P
It's best to get vitamins from food sources rather than supplement forms but that can be difficult to keep track of. I'm not really sure if getting adequate vitamins would really have any extra benefit towards weight-loss though except to make sure you're getting enough and perhaps to avoid deficiency-related cravings.
My position on vitamins:
Get the max you can from an all natural well balanced diet and try not to take in many vitamins. The less the better!
If you are eating properly why would you need them? If you feel great, have energy, stamina and losing weight..why?
The food groups have it all and it is the best natural source for all vitamins.
..if anyone can tell me why they take vitamins when they are eating a well balanced diet, high in nutrients and fibre..i would like to hear from them.
I think there is a definite over use of vitamins especially by people who do not need them.
Only your Doctor can tell if you need vitamins and which ones you actually need. This requires tests like blood tests to determine what you are deficient in.
That is why if your eating a balanced diet...you feel great, sleep great, are losing weight, have and excellent blood pressure and pulse plus have energy and stamina.
..I say never take them, if your body is doing fine without.
I think, as themassageguy said, if you're eating a healthy diet, at least 5 portions of fresh fruit and veg a day, then you shouldn't need vitamins. They don't help weight loss though if you've seen a doctor and been told you're deficient then you should obviously take his reccommendations for your health.
My friend who is training as a nutritionist told me that you basically just pee them straight out again if you take them in supplements.
Ummm yeah - about the pee thing - they do seem to just be pee-ed out. I go from pastel to primary when I have a daily vitamin. ![]()

I also heard someone say that vitamins make you hungry?
And I have also read that for many hormone/female health related problems, it is good to get at least enough Magnesium and B6/B12 - part of a daily vitamin.
I don't know - real food seems to be the best thing but it is difficult to eat a balanced diet on some days!
vitamins have nothing to do with weight loss. Only calories in vs calories out matter. A good, nutritious diet is not incompatible with weight loss. However, if you are not getting enough nutrients you may want to consult your doctor about supplements.
It's different for everyone and there is no blanket answer about the need for them. I've found it's best not to listen to people who give definite answers to this problem.
Recent studies have actually shown that vitamins in pill form do absolutely nothing for your health. They don't absorb into your body like vitamins from foods. You may get 5 to 10 peercent daily value from a pill intended for 100 percent value. Im posting from a mobile device so I can't link but you can google it.

Research has shown that calcium intake is related to weight loss. Your body is better at burning fat if it has sufficient calcium. Also, you tend to get really hungry if you don't get enough calcium. Calcium from foods is best, but it doesn't have to be dairy; lots of veggies have calcium in them too.

Figure out what type of eater you are and you might just find the answer to permanent weight loss.
