I have a question about this. My husband thinks I eat too much, yet I stay in my calories. Does volume affect anything?
Here are two examples. My normal breakfast is 1/2 cup of egg beaters and 6 oz of vanilla light and fit yogurt with 1/2 cup of Kashi go lean cereal mixed in. 1 mug of coffee with 2 tbsp. of sugar free creamer. The total calories is 255 but he thinks it is a lot of food.
One of my lunches is 1 can of progresso low sodium soup, 1 small - med apple, 1 oz of light chips, sour cream and cheddar, and 1 wasa cracker with garlic and herb cheese spread on it. The total calories is 370, but again it is alot of food.
My hubby is not in any way being mean or rude, he just thinks that it is alot of food and maybe is hindering my loss. Also when I see people put what they eat on these forums, it seems such a small amt. I eat 1400-1500- cals a day and exercise 6 days a week.
I would love to hear your opinions.
I'm ALL about volume. How much can I eat while staying within a reasonable calorie intake. If you're within your intake, there's no reason you shouldn't be eating what you are.
I put it to my bf this way (he was confused on volume too): I could eat 1/4 cup of M&M's....yummy yes. Filling? No.
OR
I could eat 4 cups of broccoli with a dash of garlic salt...yummy yes! Filling? Quite! ...not that I sit down and eat 4 cups of broccoli a day..but he may get the idea!
Thanks,
That is the way I feel also, there are just times that I feel like I eat so much.
That's the great thing about eating healthy foods! You get to eat so much, feel full, and stay within a healthy calorie range.
I find many of my friends and family members think that eating healthy is simply eating less. That's just not true.
In fact, in my office, they bring donuts on Fridays. Usually I decline and eat my fiber cereal and banana. I worked it into my calories today to have half a crumb donut. I actually overheard one of my coworkers say to another, "Hey, Sally ate some of a donut today. Guess she's off of her diet." They just don't understand logging, measuring, and sometimes treating for certain things. It's not about how much, or how little, but what - be that a donut or salad.
Hopefully if you explain to your husband about calorie allowance, calories burned, etc. he'll understand it better.
Don't eat less just 'cause it looks like a lot of food. Eat healthy!
OMG....I have the same problem! LOL... My husband said yesterday'
"Your eating again " are you sure your on a diet!!!!
It does seem like I'm always eating... I eat 5 small meals a day, and the most Calories I have had this week on a single day is 1400-1500 calories depending if I exercise or not!
I try to stay around 500-700 deficit!
It's all about choices!
Keep up the good work
