Hopeful31

I've sent everyone a PM to confirm that they are in.

Those who do not want to participate I will edit this post to remove the names.

If there is anyone who would like to join us please leave a message here, on the original thread or PM me and I will add you to the list.

Next Steps: Everyone on the list try to check in at least once before Saturday midnight. If someone has not checked in by Saturday midnight (including myself) then please contact that person!

I figure we will stay away from designating someone in particular to do the contacting. Specifically so that if that person is the one who does not check in that we're not relying on them to do the contacting. Also I tend to lean towards the idea that if we jump it's not a bad think to have 7+ people saying how happy they will be to have you back.

I expect that all of us are polite and positive with each other. I think it goes without saying that rude or offensive messages or contacts are intolerable, any such posts or PM's will result in removal from the group and a report to the moderators of the site.

Okay now that there is a plan lets see what we can do with it!

Hi Super,

I think that is a good plan for organizing the thread.  That way we won't have too many to search though.  Does anyone know if there is a way to sort the posts in reverse order- (so the new ones are on page 1?).

As for your MBA, I do have mine.  In my field (Healthcare IT) I'm not so sure it has an affect on my pay - but it does help me stand out from my competition.  My RN license is probably more important for my role.  But I think it shows your dedication and professionalism all of which help you to stand out from the crowd.  Of course I'm still paying my student loans!!Undecided   Good luck with your decision.

I also really like your methodical plan.  I think that makes things easier to tackle in small chunks instead of all at once.

Got2getthin - welcome to the group!

Also just to reassure everyone - I blew off the gym totally today and rolled over sleeping until 6:30 which put me in to work at 8am (just in time).  I had wonderful plans for a really good workout this morning but I guess it wasn't to be.   Couldn't be that I stayed up til midnight reading a book that I'd already read. Embarassed  I didn't even bring my workout clothes because I know that I won't be going tonight.

I say go for it. That wouldn't be such a bad idea.

Okay, so I'm officially a Wagon Jumper. I think I will be all my life. The goal I guess, is to limit both how often and how far I jump. Wink

I'm 39 years old and never had trouble with weight until I became a mom. I have a 5 year old daughter who is a dreamboat. With no family nearby and a hectic work-from-home job, it's easy for me to turn to food as a stress reliever. (See my journal post of 5/9/08).

My husband has two jobs...he works for Tufts University as part of the Human Nutrition Research Team in Boston by day, and he's a fabulous Chef at night and weekends. This means we know how to eat well. Very well.

My home business is computer based, and since my daughter is only in pre-school, time to exercise (or other time to myself) is very limited. I'm an outdoorsy person, and find it extremely difficult to use the gym for exercise.

I have recently fulfilled a life-long dream of owning my own horse. For six months out of the year, this is plenty of exercise - even without riding, just grooming him burns a lot of calories. However, winter in New England is brutal for me. I'm like a bear...as soon as we turn the clocks back, I start craving fats and carbs. Then I pork up over the winter, and spend the spring and summer trying to get back to a healthy weight.

I eat primarily for comfort. If I'm out of the house, I do very well. I also tend to binge. Not on junk food, just whatever food is in the house, which is mostly healthy stuff. There's just something about stuffing myself that so perfectly eases my stress (yes, I'm aware of the science behind this relationship).

Counting calories has been a huge eye-opener for me. The most challenging part is resisting the urge to binge (fall, jump or throw myself off the wagon).

So that's me. I'm glad to have your support, and will lend some in return.

Here's to stress-free days, and restful nights.

Tally-Ho!

Kreitter - yes, it's all about manageable bit sized chunks for me in this plan (pun intended). My problem is that I work from home most days so people are impressed that I'm answering e-mails at 7:30 am for an office job little do they know I rolled out of bed at 7:15 am and I'm still in my PJ's.... we now have video conferencing though so I need to watch out for that!

Tally-ho - welcome to the group, how far away is New England from Toronto and can I pet your horse!? We've all been on and off the wagon so there's lots of support here.

New Member: Hopeful31 will hopefully (yes I'm in a punning mood today) be joining us before the end of the week.

SO CLOSE FOLKS

ONE WEEK HERE WE COME!

That's a really good question, I don't know how to do that, does anyone else? I'll also ask it then technical forum. It would make things a bit easier.

HI, Boy did I blow it wed. evening.  I did so good. I had 100 calories left. It was 7;30pm. I went to the kitchen to get a sugar free pudding for 70 calories instead I ate all kinds of crap.  And I do mean crap.  It wasnt even that good.  I am so mad at my self.  So my method of fixing that is NOT to go to the kitchen after supper.  I dont care if I have calories left.  Yesterday I did good.  I had about 75 calories left but didnt want a repeat of the day before.  I need to eat to LIVE not live to EAT!

Have a great week end everyone!

love, Karen

Toronto is about 550 miles from Boston. If you're ever down this way you are MOST certainly welcome to pet my horse! He loves human affection. Laughing Actually, he's quite the stress reliever...there's just something about the smell of a horse and fresh hay that has this aroma-therapeutic effect on me.

I often think that humans, not unlike horses, might do better as grazers, and just eat a little bit all day long. Something ta think about...

Welcome to the end of the week everyone!

I think the only person we have not heard from is Hopeful31, who joined yesterday I'll send her a PM with the week 2 thread tomorrow and hope that works out.

I'm doing okay. I got to the gym yesterday I'm fairly sure I"m under cal, still need to add it up.

I'm about to go out and wax a waterslide with my SIL, that should be interesting, and burn lots and lots of calories.

Tally-ho, I know what you mean about horses, we actually live near the horse palace here in Toronto where the mounties have their horses, if they're in a good mood (and not on crowd control) we get to pet them.

also you're correct about the grazing there are lots of studies out there that show that people that can basically eat many small meals throughout the day loose weight and keep it off better than the 3 meals a day. Most programs encourage three medium meals and 2 small snacks. So we definitely do better at grazing. The trick with our culture is to be able to have food around to graze on and not to binge.

Wow, you guys have been posting up a storm!! I admit that I just skimmed the posts since I'm short on time right now, but I'll go back and catch up later. Sounds like we have a great group here. I'm looking forward to the support we can be for each other.

My daughter has been home for the past couple weeks while I recovered from surgery. She goes home on Tuesday and I'll have more time to check our thread. I also need to formulate a plan for eating now - I've been REALLY off-program for the last couple weeks and need to get a fresh resolve. Talk about wagon jumping!!!

Have a good weekend, everyone. I'll be back soon. (:
