I know I read this somewhere, but can't find the thread again. I am curious what waist sizes people are at at what height and weight. I am almost at my goal weight, but have never measured my waist before. How is the best way to measure my waist?
Just curious, if anyone wants to post!
Thanks

Are you measuring in the right place? It's not necessarily the narrowest point or where your underwear or jeans come to.
It should be the midpoint between the iliac crest (highest point of the pelvis at the side) and the lowest rib margin. Those are fixed points while the umbilicus is something of a moving feast.
However, for the sake of simplicity, it's usual to measure around the level of the umbilicus or about an inch above (especially if the abdomen is pendulous - a.k.a. drooping belly).
For me: 59, 118, 185, 125 (that's metric, you would probably recognize 59, 259, 6.1, 49) and an important additional point, to avoid comparing apples and pears - my sex: male.
My principal objective is to reduce that 125 at least to 114 (my hip measurement) or less (preferably 108 = hipx0.95 when I'm currently at x1.09) because WHR (waist to hip ratio) is much more important as a health indicator (especially for seniors*) than weight or BMI.

I want my waist to slim down to 24-25 inches...so I could be officially an hour-glass :)
I read somewhere that your waist should be half your height...but I am not sure if this is correct...
