Wait? I only burn 1630 calories?
I am 14, 5''5' and 113 pounds. I am trying at the moment to maintain, build muscle all those lovely things. But really! Don't teenagers burned more calories? I thought the least a teen could eat was 1800 calories, so why can I only eat 1630 without gaining? Could someone explain this to me?
hey, well i am definately not some expert but i heard that you need at least 1200 for daily functions i.e. heart beat ect. They say teens need more cus we are growing and all that stuff ( o by the way im 16 :))
i would of though 1630 would be fine.... but if you are planning on doing more exercise and dont really want to lose weight i would increase you calories a tad.
T.B.H. just eat healthy... if you cut out junk food.. eat your 5 a day and dont eat too much you wont need to could calories.... try buying PAUL MCKENNA 'i can make you thin' despite the name it just teaches you how to listen to your body ( sound like a bunch of mumbo jumbo but i found it really helpful)

i went ahead and calculated it for you though--if you're sedentary (which i doubt since pretty much everyone moves around during the day) you maintain on 1780. low activity is 2110, moderate is 2420, active is 2940. so choose whichever one you are and eat that amount to maintain.
it's not a guarantee though; everyone is different so you might really maintain on more or less than the amounts they give you.

Not only can you, but you should. The teenage years are very important for body development, including storing calcium. Essentially you should eat whatever you're hungry for, getting a good balance of carbs, protein, and fats. If you start to notice that you're gaining weight, check and make sure that it's not the natural development of your body before you start trying to lose weight.
I am not sure but i think it also depends on your present weight...
you might be gaining weight because you are GROWING. not necessarily just upward.
