to wake, or not to wake?

Quote  |  Reply
My amazing smiley little girl has been sleeping in her swing for the past hour and a half; so I was able to clean the house, eat a meal and go on cc.

Are there any time limits as to when they should stop swinging?  I don't want her to get a headache.  But if I stop the swing she may wake up and freak out.  she's been in and out just looking around and at me, smiling then falling back asleep.  thoughts?

That's a tricky one.  I tried searching on Google and wasn't able to find anything.

Dr. Marc Weissbluth (I think thats how you spell it)has a great sleep book out. The more quality sleep babies get, the better. Supposedly, when they sleep in the swing, or the car, its not really "quality" sleep, but whatever. Sleep is sleep in my book. However, he does say something like a baby should be put down for a nap within two hours of waking up from sleep. I couldn't believe it, but it works. Amazing.

I have found with all my babies, that the earlier they go to bed, the longer they sleep. For example, my baby usually sleeps 6:30-7ish till 6:30-7ish in the a.m. . (sometimes she'll wake up once, but not usually). If we're off schedule and she gets to bed late, she'll wake up at the same time, not later. You'd think the opposite.

Every baby is different! I don't think the swings give them headaches, though.

i didn't wake her but slowed the swing down and turned the nature sounds off.  she woke up on her own.  She has very high energy periods and then very deep nap periods.  Lulufit that's so funny, becuase in the morning after sleeping from 11-7AM (always 7AM, no matter what time she goes to bed) we have a nap together of tummy time (well, she sleeps and I watch Baby Story LOL)

She's been kinda fussy today, but rocking her in the glider with her in the crook of my arm, the swing, and the vibrating bassinet WITH nature sounds WITH the mobile going seems to make her happy.

I don't really want to soothe her with her binky; so I try to put her with things that are both calming but make her smile.  She's having a one sided conversation w/ the mobile as I write this.

she's so CUTE

I see her doc 10/2 and I'll put it on my list of questions.  I have to get that book.  I heard it was very good.

Let her sleep! Babies need 10-14 hours of sleep a day, so when ever she gets it, let her! When my boy was about 3 months I would freak out because he wasn't waking up to eat anymore. I was sure something was wrong, but the doc told me if he doesn't wake up to eat, then he's not that hungry.

Ethan is starting to walk along tables and gnaw on things. He has two VERY sharp bottom teeth and looks to be getting the top two in a couple of weeks.
