Does anyone find that they only have a bowel movement if they allow themselves lots of time and be more lesurely? on workdays when im up at 6 and out the door, i dont go, wknds, when im more relaxed, drink coffee slowly and have a drawn out bfast, i do go.

anyone find that maybe waking up like 2 hrs b4 they go to work to help? this would mean id be up at like 4am or something? idk, sort of desperate i suppose!

this happens to me every night you are not alone i find myself dreaming sometines that i need to wee when actually i do :) and struggled to get to the toulet i also dont drink alot before bedtime. i asked my theapist see did bllodwork and my kidneys were ok see said this was normal and should subside when i am maintaining a healthy weight sorry i cant be more help h x

HELEN-hi, i think u misunderstood or i wasnt clear-i dont have to pee early and wake up for that, im talking doing #2, that i cant go during the week and think it might be a timing thing, that on wknds i have more time to eat and do stuff slowly, maybe let the food pass thru me, or coffee at least, and im able to go where on wkdys im more rushed and i DONT have bowel mvmts.

wondering of anyone else has to get up super early to let the whole process unfold?

Yes I am like that too. It's "easier" if I am at home longer and more leisurely in my morning. I guess my body is just more relaxed that way. I'm definitely the same and I can't take 2-4 hours extra in the morning before work, kid off to school and all that.

I do still go eventually, it's just not quite as easy or "natural" if that makes any sense ;).

APRIL-ur lucky that u eventually go! i often wont unless i take a laxative, otherwise i wont go til sat morning!

sometimes ill go to the bathroom feeling as if i need to, nothing happens but as im walking out ill feel like i need to, the bathroom at work is in the teachers room and to walk rt back in after leaving, umm, yea??

Why not go in the evening?  There's no rule that a person can only have a bm in the morning... else I think 95% of us mothers would never go ;)

Try getting 2 to 3 Tablespoons of ground flaxseed everyday.  I put it in oatmeal mostly.  Keep your fluids up too.  This will give you more bulk in the stool and will make going easier.  I've had trouble all my life with not being able to go regularly but the ground flaxseed works great.  Just be sure to get it everyday ( you may need to adjust the quantity for yourself ) and make sure you use ground, not whole flaxseed.  I grind my own useing a coffee grinder, they're fresher that way.  They are also very, very good for you. 

It's pretty normal. Sometimes if you have a light breakfast and go for a brisk walk that'll do it, too.

MAMA-its not that i dont WANT to go to the bathroom at night, its that if i dont have all this extra time in the morning, then i dont go, at all!

SHALEM-so u buy the flaxseed in what form? whole? im not familiar and have never seen it.  oatmeal constipates me but i can put in anything? yogurt? regualr cereal? i do drink lots of water tho.

BSH-i dont have time to take a walk after bfast, unless i were getting up super early, i dress, eat, go to work.

I buy "Bob's Red Mill" 100% Whole grain Flaxseed.  It looks like tiny brown seeds.  You can get it ground also but it stays fresher if you buy it whole, keep it in the refridgerator or freezer and grind it as you need it.

You can put it on or in anything you like.  It has a slight nutty taste, but it works best in something moist.

In my store they keep it near the baking products and it comes in a bag.  Ask your grocery store if you can't find it.

Have a cup of hot water with a slice of lemon in it first thing in the morning.

Once I've finished it I KNOW I'm going to 'go'. Good for your bowels plus you get the added bonus of it being good for clearing your skin too. 

 

Oh, and this one sounded like a complete gimmick when I saw them in my mum's house, but the first time I tried it (by the instructions) it it REALLY worked. They're called 'hemp hearts' and I think my mum just sprinkles them over cereal or puts them in soups, but one of the recommendations is to have a tbsp (or something close) with only fruit first thing in the morning to clear out your colon and stuff. Tried it one day and it worked...  like an ENTIRE colon cleanse! Sadly they're a bit out of my budget so I just stick to my morning tea.

BABOO-i looked at the site, im in the US and have never seen the product, i believe it says its sold in canada but i have a health store in my town so maybe ill ask them about it, does sound a bit gimmicky tho!! lol 1 cup hot water w/ lemon? u squeeze it i guess? im not a lemon fan but i can try it.  how  much time do u allow urlsef in the morning, do u head out to work? eat bfast at home?

it alsmost seems like a time issue w me that if my stomach knows i have hrs, i can go, i also do this dance where i go into the bathroom, nothing, leave the bathroom, and then i need to go, cant do that at work!

SHALEM-i know the brand, i think i have the wheat bran which ive been using in yogurt (it does nothing 4 this!). id out it in cold cereal w milk or yogurt if that sounds rt? how much do u use? could i grind 1 week's worth, i dont have time every morning to start grinding seeds! lol how long after taking it did it start to work and how long after u eat it in the morning til u go?

My family just use it as a health supplement (we switch between seeds, hemp, flax, etc for the good fats) but I assure you, it does what it says on the packaging, right down to the unpleasant details! 

You don't need to squeeze it if you don't like it strong. I usually boil the kettle the minute I'm up, have my time in the bathroom and pour the water after. I just drink as much of it as I can while I'm doing everything else I need to do before I leave the house. I'm a university student so I NEVER leave myself time to mooch about before I have a class, but I do eat fruit and yogurt for a quick breakfast. Sometimes I only get through half a cup of the tea, but even that helps. 

Do you drink enough water and plain teas through the whole day? That could make a bigger difference in the long term.

 

BABOO- well for fats i eat a lot of nuts, a lot! lol  is the hot water w lemon w tea or just the water+lemon? i always allow time in the morning for bfast, high fiber cereal w/milk and trail mix and a cup of yogurt w my coffee.  i dont have to go the 2nd i get up tho.  even allowing an hr to get up, dress, eat, and get out, still doesnt allow me time to go. i do drink plenty of water, what do u mean by plain tea? i drink tea but my father actually told me the other day that he heard its binding. 

i dont think its psychological bc i dont fear work or feel anxious about it, idk but im really thinking i might need to go to bed at like 9 so i can wake up crazy early to give my stomach time or something??

You could grind the flaxseed once a week and keep it in the fridge or freezer to keep fresher.  You can use it in yogurt, I haven't tried it in cold cereal but I don't see why you couldn't it just may fall to the bottom of the bowl.

I'd start out with 2 or 3 tablespoons (of the ground), you could put it in food throughout the  day, you don't have to use it all at once.  It will probably take a couple of days and then if you keep taking it you should be able to have a BM everyday.  You may have to add more or take a little less, everyone is different.  Three tbs. work for me if I take it everyday.  I try to take it all at once because if I don't I forget.  The old brain isn't as sharp as it use to be. lol   Like I said give it a couple of days to start working if you're really bound up. 

SHALEM-thanks, i think ill try and pick some up tomm! it has to be whole tho, not the already ground one?  do u then go to the bathroom soon after eating it or does it just help w general regularity?

i just looked at the Bob's website, they have brown flaxseed and golden flaxeed, which do u get?

amy: i am quite please to say that i've not been more regular in the past 2-3 years than i am right now. i have recently been taking a multivitamin and i kind of expect to go around the same time each day so i head to the restroom. i read something about creating the right pooping environment. which might mean drinking something relaxing. having material to read on the toilet. massaging your tummy. going at the same time and giving yourself enough time to actually go. I have to drink something warm and usually it happens right around 8:30 and i wake up at 5-6. If i jog then it comes right after i jog but either way...it's coming sometime in the morning. Maybe a multivitamin might help you.

I get the brown because thats what my store carries.  The only reason to get the whole seed is it stays fresh longer.  If you get the ground keep it in the freezer and you should be OK.

It doesn't work like a laxative.  You won't be running to the bathroom soon after you eat it.  Like I said it might take two or three days to start to help you go but if you eat it everyday you should start being regular and go everyday.  If you don't, then add a little more till you find what works for you.

hi Chrissy-yea, its nuts, im eating like 2700 minimum daily and it all just sits there!! ur up at 5, what time do u then go to bed? i cant WO in the morning, as it is im waking up at 6 everyday to get to work at 8.  the bathroom at work is IN the teachers room, only 1 bathroom unless i use the student bathroom, and its not the best atmmosphere, cant do my bathroom dance of going in, nothing happening, then walking out and having to go rt back in.  what vitamin? how soon after the vitamin do u go? i drink hot coffee every hot coffee in the morning but that doesnt do anything for me.
