waking up late
Hi all,
i have abit of a problem with my weight-gain.
i like to go out with family/friends to socialise etc at night for drinks/chat.
however, i usually don't get to bed untill 12-1ish am. because of this I am not an early-riser. this effects when i can have breakfast. i like to have 3weetaix/whole milk/banana/raisin for breakfast but lately it's been too late really to eat that and then dinner almost straight after.
it hasn't been that detrimental yet but i'm going to university in 4 days and i'm sure that i will be out even more making friends etc in evenings.
i was thinking of having a smoothie/milkshake/powder standby for such times.
so have you got any calorific ideas?

First,
My scheulde is WAY off from "normal" people...I literally eat dinner at like 2am or today...i had dinner at 4am!
I had breakfast at 3pm...woke up at 2pm.
and I had a normal breakfast, heck, sometimes I have breakfast for dinner!
In terms of when you HAVE to eat your breakfast, it does NOT matter...if you want cereal for dinner EAT IT. As long as what you are eating is your caloric range (or in terms of gaining if it is OVER that range that's even BETTER! :-) ) and most importantly it tastes good, ENJOY!
I was severely underweight for several years 5' 1" 86-88lbs when I was very sick. I relied on Peanut Butter a lot. If you need to bulk it up, I suggest nut butters...they are good for you and you won't get a sugar rush and then drop...which nutella would do to me...it's really good too if you can handle the sugar...put it on toast! fruit! anything.
ALSO...for all you girls out there that are trying to gain and miss salad. BULK THAT UP! you can make VERY high caloric salads...get out those NUTS, CHEESES CROUTONS RAISINS and CREAMY DRESSINGS and BEANS! Throw in some chopped up deli meats or chicken etc too! (protein= healthy muscles!) you will get your veggies AND get in HEALTHY HIGH CALORIES in a nutricious meal!
As for shakes, i recommend bananas, fruit (mangos are GREAT!) protein powder (build up those healthy muscles!) nut butters, wheat germ, flax seed, even cereal and of course milk and ice cream blend it all up and enjoy!
Dinner have your favorite grain, pasta, use cheese, beans AND your favorite meat (chicken, turkey, steak, pork) and vegetables. PESTO is SO GOOD and HEALTHY HIGH CALORIES!
Also do some sort of yoga or pilates, something that builds MUSCLE. this will help build confidence and make gaining easier on yourself physically and mentally.
It will take time ladies and believe me it took me over SEVEN YEARS to get back to a curvey HEALTHY body.
Don't give up on yourself, and days you feel like you can't, don't want to or don't care...you can do this and in the end you will be stronger and before you know it you'll be giving tips and support to others that need a helping hand.
Feel free to message me anytime, I'm here to help!
I think you have to prioritise weight-gain if it's going to happen... If you're choosing to be asleep most of the day then you're going to find it tough to get in all the calories you need during your waking hours.
do you actually sleep for more hours in the day than most people or is it just that you stay up late and get up late? I'm the latter, and while I used to use it as an excuse not to fit as many cals in, it really doesn't have to be. what works best for me is to have a normal breakfast, not have a morning snack, and have an extra snack when I'm up late at night instead. basically I just eat as normal when I wake up, whatever time, and eat approx every 3 hours from then, as this works to fit in eating 6x per day.
I second gi-jane. I'd also add that it's pretty dangerous to drink when you're underweight as you are so much more easily affected by alcohol.
weight gain is the most important and your health , it must be hard to fit in all the calories waking up so late i struggle sometimes and i get up at 6 30 am . couldnt you limit going out at night a couple of times a week . it will be hard at first but you could get your body clock better so you wake up early and go to sleep early , i mean if you had a job you d have to rise , id suggest limiting your late nights to weekends, and go easy on the drink under eating messes about with your liver enough without drinking plus its lethal when such underweight h xx
Will I lose weight if I eat the same food over and over?
You can lose weight despite eating the same food day-after-day as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn. In fact, eating the... Read more
