YES!  I was too much of a whimp to join a gym without any experience in the physical education department! :0)...

So i started the Walk away thepounds videos almost every day for abt 2 weeks!  Wow, when i went to the gym, i had enough stamina to walk on that treadmill, even run- for a good 40 min without any huffing or puffing!  Basically it served the purpose, that i didnt embarrass myself!  I recomend it to anyone, but mind u, i did get bored after the 2-3 weeks and then i started the gym membership and walking outside.  But if u want to go ahead and continue....Leslie sansone is really good in that she starts u out slow and then increases ur pace....i truly enjoyed it,  Now i am on the elliptical without any problem for a good 40 min...so go ahead and try it.  I got it at walmart for abt 15 bucks...thats just buying a tshirt or a pair of shorts!  So why not?!!
I love these videos !!! I used them at first as my only work out and they really got my heart rate up and got me moving and more willing to try other exercises.  I have about 6 of these tapes or so all are diffrent but the same basic idea.  Some are longer sessions and some work certain areas of the body but all of them are based around walking.

I now use these tapes as my morning warm up and hit the gym at night.

Plus, no one can sees you doing these tapes so you have to be accountable to yourself. Worked wonders for me
are they all pretty much the same...cuz there are like four or five that i seen..which has everyone tried? or reccomend the most
Any one got good results with Leslie's DVDs? --Especially the walk away the pounds and/or your waistline. If yes, how long did it take you before you can see the results?  Thanks much :-)

I began just a week ago, so I don't have answers for the 'results' yet. I have done the DVD that comes with her book (It's a 1-mile walk) and I just bought the DVD and Walk Belt and did that this morning (It's a3-mile walk).

I enjoy it. Lisa is not terribly annoying like some instructors.

I just ordered mine (still in the mail) so I haven't started yet.  I was wondering the same thing though.  What kind of success stories are out there.  I posted and received a few positive responses.  So after I try them I'll post my opinion.  And faithymom can you post your opinion as you progress?

Are they hard on the knees? Did you lose inches from your hips and thighs? Lose weight? If so, how much?

thanks!

I will post as I go along. I have 59 pounds to lose, so I'll have plenty of time to develop my opinion of them!

I haven't noticed any knee pain or stress. My knees do bug me sometimes, too and they've been fine. My outer thighs are apparently WAY out of shape as that's where I feel the 'burn' most.

I have Leslie Sansone Walk Away The Pounds and I really like it. Leslie is up-beat but not ridiculously chipper. This particular DVD has 3 work outs, I don't remember which 2 I like most but I find myself going back and forth between the one that incorporates weights and one of the other 2, but all 3 are good. They're easy to tone down when you first start out (without feeling guilty) and easy to make harder when you are ready. You will get bored with any workout if it is the only one you do for any length of time, so make sure you stock your library with a variety of videos/workouts to prevent early burn-out.

Leslie Sansone is a good instructor but her videos aren't a magic pill. Some posters are asking if people have seen results. Well, the videos are basically cardio with a little strength training mixed in, and you'll see the same results you'd see with just about any similar workout of this intensity. You'll see inches drop if your calories burned > calories consumed. Find some type of cardio that you like and do it consistently. I like Walk Away The Pounds. Not hard on the knees, either.

Thanks for the reply Niki.

I started w/ the walk away yr waistline about a month ago and got the walk away the pounds only a couple of days ago. I haven't seen a big drop in the weight (only 1lb) but I can definitely see the difference on my waistline as well as a some toning.  However, I have to admit that this is the only time I did not gain any weight at all during the holidays season. Being that said, I have hope that in addition to watching what I put in my mouth, I may see encouraging results if I keep it up.  I try to exercise at least 5 days a week mixing with doing the elliptical in some days of te week...  Leslie's DVD and elliptical are both easy on knees.

For those who are interested and have a long way to go, let's try to keep checking on how everyone is doing and see if we can pull it thru.

How about starting with committing for exercizing a number of days (5 days out of 7??) a week and posting our comments/progress on this post?

Yes - I know my sister-in-law has had great success with Leslie, walking away the pounds!  She has been doing them for 5 months and lost 16 pounds.  She has also been watching her sugar intake - she uses sweetener instead of sugar.  We went to Wichita to visit the family and she had these DVDs for us to do after we ate away our Christmas feasts.  The videos were pretty easy and we had three people doing them in the basement, so it was fun to "get a group together" - Good luck!

Thanks faithymom, thedy, nikidust and cappy1979-

I'd like to follow along with how everyone is progressing.  Right now I am walking 3.7k at least 3 times a week.  After I receive my videos I'll post and let you know. I like the idea of beginning a group so we can support one another.  We can either use this string or start a new one.

What do you think?

Sure! I don't know if I'd post every day, but at least a couple times a week.

BTW, I did a mile this morning.

i don't get it - do you watch the DVDs while walking on the treadmill?  or do you watch the DVDs and then go outside for a walk?

there's also a great book called Walking for Fitness by Marnie Caron.  she's a physiotherapist (i think) with the UBC Sports Med Center in Vancouver.

You walk in place, while watching the DVD.

oops! Double-post!

I put Walk Away the Pounds into my blockbuster queue but sadly they're not going to send it to me because our subscription has expired and we're not renewing it. Is it worth my just spending the money to buy the darned thing? I really wanted to try it out first to see if I liked it. :(

And which one should I buy? She's got a horribly confusing number of them on Amazon! I normally walk for half an hour to an hour four or five times a week at about 3-1/2 miles an hour, and I can do a short burst of 4mph (15 minutes) but I don't have the stamina for more. If I don't have time for a long walk but I really want to exercise, I'll go outside and do a 15-minute mile around our lake...

I got mine with the walk belt at walmart for 13.00

It's a 3 mile walk and takes 45 mins

For those who wonder where they can get Leslie's walking DVDs, don't get them online where you will have to pay for S&H, Walmart and Target both have them; I got mine from there.  Walmart has better price!

Someone asked if we wlak on the treadmill then go outside for a walk...  NO, you play the DVD on your TV and walk with Leslie and her team making different walking moves.  Believe me, by the time you finish 3 miles you are sweating!!  I have 2 and want to buy the 5 miles walk. It saw at walmart for $9.95, i believe the entire workout is about 1hour but you can do 2 or 3 or 4... miles depending on how much time you have.

Cappy1979,  Thank you so much for your post! very motivating.  Starting Monday, I started doing 2 miles from Walk off your Waistline (WOW) and 1 power mile from walk away the pounds (WAP).  The WAP also has a walk including kickbox that I love. Sometime this week I did the power walk + the kickbox exercise for a total of about 50 minutes from the WAP. I really felt it the next day!!

How did you ladies do today?  Today I switched to 35 minutes of elliptical for a change ( I try to mix both wlaking DVD and elliptical).  My eating wasn't the best though :-( it was my b-day and I went to Indian Place restaurant... I did not mess up very bad but you know how everything there is full of fat...

Keep up the great work all. We can do it and we will; slowly but we will get there :-)
pump up
Where is everybody??  Did you give up already??

I did stick to the walking; I took yesterday (sunday) off though! This morning I did the 1 mile power walk and the 30 minutes walk both from WAP video.  No pound dropped yet, but my pants fit better.

Thanks ---and please comeback!!! We can help/motivate each other and drop the unwanted pounds ;-)
