Walk Vest ... anyone try it?
I try to walk the nights that I am not running and found this Walk Vest on a website. I want to get more out of my walking and when I use weights to enhance my walk it makes me soar from the weight distribution. It looks to be helpful but was wondering if anyone has used it or knows someone who has. Here is the website.

I don't see what's really wrong with that other than you could get the same benefits from just carrying some 2 or 3 pound weights in each hand when walking and get double the workout (more weight on your body and toning exercise for your arms).
Personally? I'd just go spend $4 or whatever at walmart at get some 2 pound hand weights with neprene (sp?) or some other soft kind of covering that are comfortable to walk with. As you get used to them over the weeks... buy another pair.
There's no real reason I see for spending $95 on 8 pounds worth of weights in the walk vest.

I bought a Gold's Gym brand version of that for about $20 at Wal-Mart. That vest goes up to 20 lbs and I wear it while walking. I can tell it's burning more calories. At first my back hurt a little as did my legs but after a week or so I got used to it. The thing I like about the vest is it balances out the weight. There's probably less chance of injury wearing one vs. carrying weights. It especially makes hill climbing a lot more productive.
For higher weight counts definitely that golds gym vest is better. Expecially at that price! But for super light weight ... 2 or 3 pound hand weights work great and pull double duty. Plus you can do a 2 pound weight in each hand and still wear the vest if you want :)
Thanks for the insifht guys. I will have to look at Walmart and pick a vest up there. I would rather spend $20 than $95.
You can also just wear a back-pack full of books:) I'd considered a vest also, but I walk/ride my bike to work and carry all my stuff in my back-pack. I think it'd do pretty much the same thing.
I have used a Walk Vest and I am not sure if it is effective, mybe its my dedication to walking and shedding some weight that works. I got my Walk Vest here
I used the weight vest, I think it worked well. Bought a 40 pounds one. Started at 20 lbs. and increased it 5 lbs. every two weeks.
I LOVE my walkvest!!!! I can tell it is burning more calories!! It also seemed to help me with my posture! I got my Walkvest at amazon.com and it was only $39.95 and free shipping! I think it was worth every penny!
How about trying a vest on the nights you are running? You have to spend more for the quality, but I use a Hyper Vest weight vest. It holds tight to your body and you can run in it - the weights stay put. In fact, it is so thin I can wear it under my shirt. You can find them at www.hyperwear.com
