how long have you been doing it?  what are you eating?  do you have weight to lose?

too many variables.

an aside: i don't get the walking-in-front-of-the-TV thing.  go outside!

i  been  walking and i have lost weight but i havent been doing the walking front of a tv thing to wierd for me, i  go outside and i do  about 2 or 3 hours a day, i  have a pedometer so  a day i  do  anywhere from 4miles to like bout  15 miles was the most ive done but not on just working out  im talking bout my throughout the day walking as well and so far ive lost bout 7lbs on  that. Keep up with it.

I started a walking program that claimed you could lose weight without changing anything else (without dieting).  They don't account for the fact that you are likely a lot hungrier and need proper nutrition.

I gained then lost a net loss of 3 pounds in 5 weeks.  That's when I came here.  You have to adjust your diet for the extra workout without going crazy.

Without more information, I don't know if you're starving yourself and have slowed your metabolism or are overeating and cancelling out your loss of calories.

I started with a walking DVD... in front of the TV. I did it for a month... and lost about 8lbs... however, I coupled that with calorie counting and restricting my caloric intake. After the first month... I added a cardio kick boxing type routine; also on DVD. Now that the weather is better... I walk outside. The DVD came with a CD that converted the workout for outdoor use. I walk 3 miles a day... and about another 2 miles, just walking around for daily work.  I have lost a total of 22lbs since January 5th. However, I have been at a plateau for the last 3 weeks...

A lot of people think that walking in front of the TV is "weird"... i do not think it is any weirder that a treadmill... hell, you walk to nowhere on that. it has worked for me... hang in there.

i think treadmills are weird, too ;-)

i'm lucky: i have many routes right from my front door, through woods & hills or on roads, running, walking, and hiking.  i probably do about 40k a week.  i can't wait for the snow to melt so i can start exploring some of the hiking trails in the area (i've been here for a year and a half, but i'm in grad school.  just finished my course work last week, and i got a dog at the end of february, so hope to start going somewhere new every week.

you know i prefer to be walking outdoors, pgeorgian...but i think my body has grown too accustomed to my regular walking around the city (and i live on top of a hill).  i'm getting back on the treadmill this week, and jacking up the incline, and hoping that makes a difference...of course, i'll still be walking whenever i can as transportation.

The 'Walk away the pounds'-program is not just walking, you also make other movements and for example use your arms. I used to do it and enjoyed it for a while, I just got bored listening to the same jokes and same talk over and over, which is a problem with any video work out I think.

I think the fact you have not been losing might be connected to other things, like what pgeorgian said; what have you been eating, how much weight do you need to lose, what's your stats: length, weight, age, all these things are part of the information so we can give you a proper answer. Also changing your routine can make your body hold on to water for a while because your muscles are healing, this can ALSO be a reason.

Can I lose weight by walking on the treadmill for 20 minutes twice a day?
