Walking, Jogging, Running, Swimming or any other exercise?

Today, I started back my little walk.  Down the stairs, end of carport, back up stairs, around through the kitchen living room, out the front door on the porch (where my new pictures were taken) back in to the bedroom.  I tried to keep breathing through my nose and not through my mouth.  I paused at the end of our carport to enjoy the sounds of the  birds and the warm sunshine.  Back to baby steps.  I can't wait to do this without the walker.

We went swimming yesterday and I swam the whole length of pool pretty vigorously without breaks.

Oh to go swimming! Hopefully the cool weather will finally be coming to an end. I love to swim! When I was younger and thinner I could swim the full length of the pool underwater. Now I run out of breath too easily!  Swimming laps is great cardio!! The best if you ask me!

I walked from the bedroom through the living room and kitchen 4 times before heading to the bedroom.  On my last lap I decided to stop and wash the few dishes in the sink and wipe down the counter.  It was so foggy and cloudy this morning.  The sun came out around 2 PM.  Even though Andy is off today, he is real tired and is sleeping right now.  I may try again if he gets up before JM gives me my dinner.  It felt really good, even though I did not go outside and up and down the stairs today.  I also walked one time to the kitchen without the aid of the walker (I know a no!no!).

That's great NJ,  I know it feels great to be moving about.  I guess you guys are still seeing a lot of smoke from the fires. Hopefully those will end soon.  You go girl!!

Anita joined me for the walk again this morning.  I could not time the 1.25 mile trek today.  Anita stopped to talk to some of the people that she knew.  So it was not a straight walk.  At least it was a slower walk.  There were some resting points.  We were even chasing a puppy whose tie-out leash had come lose from his doghouse.  Here this puppy goes running down the street with this long rope thing dragging behind him.  It would not have taken much for this puppy to get caught on something and hurt itself.  Puppy was returned back home safe and sound.  The little boy was thankful that we caught the puppy.

Denna to the rescue!  It is always good to have you around.  Sounds like you had an enjoyable walk!

Today, I did my lap in the house went down the stairs, end of carport, oops! my feet are taking me somewhere else?  The street turning towards our  mailbox!  What is wrong with me?  Of course Andy is "yelling" at me what am I going in the street, the dogs are following me (not a good idea with traffic at  10 mph (not!)).  I get back to the driveway and head back to the stairs, up and turn around and going down the stairs, end of carport.  Oops my feet are doing it again they want to go to the mailbox.  I can't stop!  Of course this time I tell Andy keep the dogs there at the end of the carport.  I am so excited and proud.  I'm looking around (hoping no one will see me).  I turn around, go back up the driveway towards the stairs - not even waiting for Andy with the walker, I climb the stairs.  I walked through the laundry room (OK waddled) back to the bedroom.  My breathing was not as heavy.  I am so excited!  We are going to try again before lunch.  The weather is so beautiful today!

OK - I am at the edge of my seat!

Time for a Happy Dance for Norma Jean.

I think that I will call out the Peanuts crew for this one....

Dance Party

LOL Denna! Enjoyed the Peanuts Dance Party!

Norma Jean - kudos for going the distance!!! You're too funny!! I love the way you tell of your walks!

Here I go again!  Just finished before lunch one lap in the house went down the stairs, end of carport. Head back to the stairs, up and turn around and down the stairs, end of carport, back up the driveway towards the stairs.  This time I waited for Andy to give me the walker and did two laps in the house.  Boy my calves are going to fill this!

You better be careful....

Andy is going to tie an anchor to your butt to get you to slow down.  Wink

Seriously, I am moved to tears.  I am so excited to see your level of activity.  Please be careful so that you don't push yourself too much.  We would not want you to hurt yourself.  But you know your body better than we do.

Honey, enjoy your walks!!!!!

Keep moving, Norma Jean! That's fantastic!! I'm so glad to read the enthusiasm in your post!!!!! Your feeling better and it shows.

YEAH FOR YOU!!!!

:)

You certainly motivated me.  I left my desk about 1:00 and decided to get some sunshine - then decided to walk one block and that one turned into about 5.  I haven't had my walking partner so -- I've not been walking -- bad for me.

Do keep Roberta in your prayers (girlpeacocks) her husband has been battling cancer for about 7 years and he's had pnemonia for the last month and can't seem to shake it - he went to spend a few days in hospice to get his meds straightened out  -and so Roberta can get caught up on some much needed rest - she emailed today and said he's not feeling well.  Thanks!

I had an interesting walk this morning.  Anita suggested that we take a different route back instead just turning around at the convenience store / gas station.  This added another 0.25 miles to the journey.  So I walked 1.5 miles today.  This new trek also had 2 larger inclines compared to the only smaller one on the original route.  BOY - ARE MY KNEES BURNING.  I even broke a sweat this morning.  And this is with the strong winds that precede rain.  Surprisingly, we made it back home before it started pouring.  I had just gotten out of the shower when the rain and thunder storms started.

OK, I did a little too much yesterday.  Just real tired and a little achy but that comes with movement.  So I just finished one lap in the house went down the stairs, end of carport. Head back to the stairs and waddled (without the walker) back to the bedroom.  Andy of course was scolding me to wait for him with the walker.  I just can't help myself.  When I get moving I want to keep going until I can no longer feel the energy.

Glad you didn't let the fatigue from yesterday's activity keep you from getting back at it today! That's great forward momentum, Norma Jean! YEAH!

I took the same route that I did yesterday.  So I walked 1.5 miles again.  BUT this time I did it in reverse since I am having pain in my knees and ankles.  Today's walk let me walk down the two larger steeper inclines.  Then on the return home I walked the smaller progressing incline.

At least I didn't climb back into bed and say, "I can't go today.  My legs hurt."  I found a way to not hurt myself further and still get my walk in.

~  THEN  ~

I walked some more.  I had a doctor's appointment today.  Hubby needed the van. So he dropped me off at the doctor's office.   The doctor's office is only 1.1 miles from my house.  Afterwards, I felt ambitious.  So, I took off walking.  After 0.75 miles (almost home), my knees were starting to twist and causing me more pain.  So I called Keith to come and pick me up.  I ended up walking another 0.75 miles.  Gotta Love That!!!

Yesterday, I am still tired and a little achy.  So I just did one lap in the house went down the stairs, end of carport. Head back to the stairs back to the bedroom.  I did make several trips to the kitchen and also stood and did the dishes at the sink.

I just finished one lap in the house went down the stairs, end of carport. Head back to the stairs and waddled (without the walker) back to the bedroom.  (At least Andy didn't scold me).  It is already really warm here.  I may try again in a little while.  Just no energy today.  I went to bed last night at 8 PM.  Woke up just as Andy was leaving at 10 PM and fell back to sleep until about 4:30 AM.  Then I was cat napping until Andy came home at 7:30 AM.  Tired lately - (probably all that macaroni & cheese - LOL!).
