Walking, Jogging, Running, Swimming or any other exercise?
Today, I started back my little walk. Down the stairs, end of carport, back up stairs, around through the kitchen living room, out the front door on the porch (where my new pictures were taken) back in to the bedroom. I tried to keep breathing through my nose and not through my mouth. I paused at the end of our carport to enjoy the sounds of the birds and the warm sunshine. Back to baby steps. I can't wait to do this without the walker.
Reason: unsticky post
I "walked the night" with my friend Roberta. She is a cancer survivor and her husband is still in the battle. Her team was made up of friends, family and co-workers - and between us all, we kept someone on the track nearly all night from 7pm til 7am + plus (I left at 8:30 and the event was to last until 11am. )
I have no idea how many miles I may have walked, and was amazed with the endurance we had. They had hourly games and challenges throughout the night and even had my first try at kareoke. I got home today and crashed around 9am and we slept til about 3:30 in the afternoon. I can't remember the last time I was that exhausted! Me and Lisa are hobbling a little today with soreness in our feet but it gets better when were up and about (and stiffen up when we sit) Hopefully will fully recover soon!
I had to take Glynn to school this morning. It was 43 degrees with a light wind this morning. This is the middle of May, right? Some sections of Kentucky had frost warnings. What's up with that?
Anyway.... Even with the late start and the COLD, I still did the 1.5 mile route this morning. But when I got home, I had trouble getting warmed back up (even with a hot shower). I am still sitting here typing with one of the kid's throw "blankey" wrapped around my shoulders.
I missed out on my walk yesterday. So around 10 am I did my lap through the living room, dining room, kitchen and out the door. Down the stairs, end of carport, back up stairs, back down the stairs, end of carport, back up the stairs, around through the kitchen living room, and back in to the bedroom. I was really breathing heavily today. I did not do a good job in breathing through my nose and not through my mouth. Just one day without doing my little walk, I felt the difference.
I haven't posted in a while, have I?
05/19/09:
I didn't go for my walk. It was cold again. I think that the air had more moisture than it did on Monday morning. I woke up with stiffness and pain in my knees. It felt as if my knee cap was grinding into my knee joint.
05/20/09:
I didn't walk again. My joints are still hurting. It is warmer than what it was yesterday morning. I can handle muscle pain alot better than joint pain. I can function with though muscle pain. Joint pain can bring tears to my eyes.
Aunt Flo also brought the migraine again. It wasn't as strong though. And it didn't last all day as it has in the past. After I got Glynn on the bus, I just took an Aleve and went back to bed. Just got back up a few minutes ago. I can function today.
Maybe I can walk in the morning........
I did my lap through the living room, dining room, kitchen and out the door. Down the stairs, end of carport, back up stairs, back down the stairs, end of carport, back up the stairs, around through the kitchen living room, and back in to the bedroom. Today my breathing was not as heavy.
I could not do my walk today. (Not yet anyway) Keith had to go into work early (7:00am) to cover someone who is on vacation. So I could not go for my walk after I got Glynn on the bus.
Just came in from my walk. It is such a beautiful morning! We removed both our vehicles out of the carport in anticipation of the delivery of our new washer. I took advantage of the room to walk.
I did my lap through the living room, dining room, kitchen and out the door. Down the stairs, end of carport, back towards the stairs turn around and headed back to the end of the carport. At that point I asked for Andy's arm and walked the distance back to the stairs. We walked slowly and it felt so good to be a little more upright then walking with the aid of the walker. I went up the stairs and back down the stairs. I then took Andy's arm and walked to the end of the carport, turned around and walked back to the stairs. I had to lean on the walker because I started getting an ache in my lower back. I cannot tell you how good this really felt today. I went back up the stairs, around through the kitchen living room, and back in to the bedroom. I am hoping to maybe try this again once the washer gets delivered. My breathing was not as labored but this time I also stopped a little to more to catch my breath.
Update: After our new washer was delivered, I went to see the new machine. Andy was ready to do laundry and had it all over the kitchen/laundry floor. Said sorry, we are going to do the steps one more time! So I went out the backdoor, down the stairs, took Andy's arm and walked to the end of the carport, turned back towards the stairs and headed back up the stairs and headed to the bedroom with the walker I really pushed myself and it did feel good! The dogs were driving me crazy though because they kept pushing against my calf leg. I keep telling them I am going as fast as I can!
What are friends for, but to help one another!
"It's better to have a partner than go it alone. Share the work, share the wealth. And if one falls down, the other helps, But if there's no one to help, tough! ... By yourself you're unprotected. With a friend you can face the worst. Can you round up a third? A three-stranded rope isn't easily snapped." Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (MSG)
Today I am really sore and achy. I get too excited and I push myself. So I was only able to do one lap of my routine. We also just tried to get me into the backseat of the truck. I can't even lift my leg up high enough even with a step to get in. I think I tweaked my back a little. We will try again tomorrow and have me backup into the seat. I need to get in the vehicle so we can make the appointment to have this Doppler test taken for the blood clots within the next two weeks.
I could only walk about a mile this morning. It started raining. I had to come back home. And boy was I soaked. But I did get some walking in.
I was so busy doing maintenance for another group yesterday that I forgot to post my daily activity.
Both yesterday and today I walked 1.5 miles.
Both days, it threatened to rain, but I managed to get my walk in just in time to avoid getting wet.
Still getting mobile. School is out next week. The only way that I have been able to do my walking is to do it after I get my son on the bus. I then leave my daughter with hubby. Well, after next week, his schedule changes. He will have to start work at 7:00am. I don't know when I will be able to walk.
I'll think of something.............
