Walking Off the Weight 2

Quote  |  Reply
Hello all!

I credit my taking up walking, in conjuction with the awesome cc, with my weight loss success thus far this summer..... I know there are many others out there, walking away the pounds, the stress, the stuff in life that needs to be sweated out, so join us here! We had discussions in WOTW1 from where we liked to walk to how to improve the walking work out after it had gotten too easy, blisters and bras, to how to get the SO to come along with you, so if it's related to walking, it can go here! ( :

Just FYI, but I think I am offically a "wogger" now -- I almost can't say that word without laughing (credit Jess who found it). So let's say walkers, wanna be walkers who need encouragement, woggers, even joggers if they promise not to make fun! =P Hope to see allmy old friends here + and a lot of new ones too!

So---Rock on with your walkin', girls and boys!    --Olivia

Had a wonderfully busy weekend! Did get in 55 minutes Sat AM before cleaning and packing the RV for an overnight at a Christian campground about 1 hr from home. We've grown to love that place, and are getting on the waiting list for a seasonal site!

Sunday AM I think I was the only one up around around before 7 AM, and took my walk around the campground, including down to the lake and back up again. The steep slope of that hill really got the ticker going...almost scarily !! But getting to see the lake so calm before the boaters sure was worth it!!

Got in 40 mins this AM too. My daughter is in town this week, and hopefully she'll come out and walk with me some mornings!

Daughter and I are going walking along the Niagara River this evening! Last time I remember doing that together was nearly 20 yrs ago when she was in college in Philly! Sure is good to have her in town for a whole week!

Hi, new to this thread, but so glad I found it because walking is my thang! I walk during my lunch hour for 30 mins and then again after work for 4 miles.  I am so lazy in the moring, but I may have to switch to mornings because I have no time to do anything after walking in the evenings and am extremely exhausted! I have been walking the 4 miles for about 2 weeks now.

Olivia, your picture does not reflect your weight at all! You look fantastic! I was at 211 (5'8")when I started with cc and am now down to 199 as of this am! So happy to be in the 100's!!!!!Yippee! This site is a Godsend, just love it!

We deserve to be healthy and thin!!!!!!!

Good for you...oh how I'm looking forward to seeing those numbers again!

I'm beginning to recognize the "God shots" in my life in doing this too! Lord knows I couldn't do it alone, my way!

Have a plan, a prayer and friends! Works for me.

Back again :D seems I only hit the forums every few days well I'm in week 2 of my diet now and I stopped walking for a week to get the weight to actually come off. I was losing inches and not pounds, but I broke the trend and finally broke my 170 barrier and hit 169 yesterday so woohoo to me! I celebrated by buying myself some more yarn for my hobby lol which is listed in the activities as "sitting, crafts, light effort" hehe I crochet and knit. but saturday its back to walking again, I think I can hit 168 by then. :D I'm gonna alternate, walking a week then dropping a week. just so I can get the pounds off. love yall bunches and I love hearing about everyones successes, it makes me feel like i can really accomplish something when i hear about how good you guys are doing
Hi,

Good for you Tempest!  Maybe that is what I should do.  Take a week off from walking.  Today I only walked 35 minutes.  Ate 1700 calories.  I was bad today.  Darn. Burned only 200 calories walking, so that puts me at 1500.  I've really pushed myself hard all summer to walk anywhere between 7 - 10 miles everyday, and I think I am getting a little bit burned out.  But I don't want to stop.  I have lost several inches, and my legs are so toned, I am loving it! Winter will be here before I know it, and I'll be stuck on a treadmill.

If I could only  feel satisfied on 1200 calories a day.  *Sigh*  I don't know why it's so hard.  As I understand it, 1200 calories a day should be more than enough filling calories for any woman whether she be 100 or 300 lbs.   I guess I'm not eating enough protein for one thing.  Think I'll spend some time this evening surfing the web for some solutions.

Rachel

don't worry Rachel, i tend to go over my cal limit at least a couple times a week. but i dropped it by 200 so that if i broke my "imaginary" limit, i don't feel as bad. but i have learned how to make a menu in advance for the day and allow 3 slots for those 100 calorie snacks. it really helps to plan ahead. (plus i got those 200 cals for extra snack emergencies ;)  ).

i gotta say tho the walking does tone up my gut (which is my main dislike) i was reading in one of the forums that someone was able to tell that they were losing or toning by how much of their belly is resting on their thighs, fortunately mine is getting less and the BF is ecstatic about it but still loves me no matter what. I'll feel better when i can look down and see my crotch again lol

My daughter and I walked for 1 hr 40 mins!!! It was wonderful to be able to walk that long, and on uneven terrain! And a great time for us to share a lot of thoughts with each other.

But my lower back is stressed now, so I'm taking today off from walking. Besides, B and I need a little time together....been so busy with RV and company we seem like strangers passing in the night!

My food planning is working very well, and I'm actually looking forward to getting on the scale tomorrow.

Kris,

Wow, over an hour and a half, that is great!  I'm so glad you are having an enjoyable time with your daughter too.  :)  I'm taking a week off from walking to rest.  I'll be doing my ball exercises 2 or 3 times a day however.  And watching my calories and fat too.  Have a great day everyone!

Rachel

I drank about 2 gallons of water yesterday...seems my body needed to flush out the toxins from the extended walk! And "flush" is what I did all day & night! But I feel great this AM!

I drove around my "usual" route last night curious about the mileage and then calculated the time this AM to see if I'm on target for 3.5 mph. Very close! Got 40+ mins in this AM.

Now to the shower to prepare for a day shopping, sipping (winery tour) and lunching with my girls in Canada!

Can't walk today, thunder and rain out.  If it lets up I will.  Too much chance of falling branches in the wood to go out when it's like this.

Wish I had a TM or Ellipical machine at home.  Housework just doesn't get the heart rate up like a power walk.  Now with my new bike in here I don't even have the room for a machine.
I just couldn't take a day off after all, lol.............let alone a week!  I walked 5 miles yesterday.  And the scale was down a lb, Woo Hoo!  I just got my first walk in today too, 40 minutes.  Have a great day everyone.

Rachel

Walking can be addictive, can't it Rachel?

But what better addiction than a healthy exercise?

Did some additonal walking on our day together...shopping. Not much effort towards exercise walking, but still a lot better than sitting on my ____ at the office!

Now to get some sleep so I can get up early and walk before work tomoorw. G'night All!

Oops...forgot to set the alarm, so no walk this AM. I'll have to catch up tomorrw, hoping to get in my 1 hour before the family descnds for noon dinner, then off in RV to the other family for the rest of the weekend. Maybe I can get the grandkids to take me on a walk thru the woods!
wow.  Wogger is Wonderful!!!  Just did a 5 mi walk, only part was powerwalk, that got me winded and I relaxed the rest, but was moving along.  Down to my lowest of 180.5 and have lost 6" since joing CC, two months ago.  My waist is now 34", down from 37"    :0)

I'm a little nervous about Labor Day holiday...............hope I don't  undo any hard work.  Good luck to everyone else..........stay strong!!
I took a day off today from walking and calorie counting too.  I really splurged.  I had a Brownie Earthquake at DQ! Yikes!  Tomorrow is the first of September.  Sure hard to believe.  The summer has just flown by.  The leaves are already starting to change color too.

Ohio: Congratulations on inches lost!  That is wonderful.  From reading all the posts you can sure see that walking definitely pays off and in big dividends!  :)

Kris: Yes, walking is very addictive!  I get a little grumpy when I don't get my walks in.

Rachel
rachelr:  I noticed there are a scattering of leaves on my path in the woods, a hint of autumn.  Reminds me I don't want to miss a day of walking cause winter is coming.  I'm a DQ fan also.  I want to try the Cotton Candy flavor, next time I earn a treat.

Also noticed something different but good.  The upper back of my thighs, and rear are a little sore from walking.  This is a GOOD thing as that is exactly the area that needs toned.  I knew I was using different muscles, from jogging, but couldn't pinpoint them before as walking is new.
Ohio,

And tone you will!  :o)  My legs/thighs have gotten so toned from all this walking.  And my rear has shrunk and lifted/sprung back to it's old self too, lol.    I'm bringing that ugly old treadmill right back into the house as soon as the cold and snow arrive.  The leaves are already starting to fall.   Darn!

Rachel
Hello Walkers!

How did everyone do over Labor Day Weekend?  I ate a little more than I had planned, but am back on track today.  Lovely weather for walking.  Cooler today.  :)
Despite my plans to walk in the woods over the weekend, I only did that once, and once I walked down the 1/2 mile hill from their camp to ours. The food was OK, but I'm glad to be able to log in again today! Changes in routine make it hard to stay on track. And aggravation over things I couldn't control didn't help. But I'm back today!
