Walking to work

I know what you're all thinking! But it isn't because I couldn't find gas! I have 1/2 tank in the jeep! But it feels nice out, and as tough as it is to fit exercise time into my day, I figure this is a great way to get it in there without cutting into family time or sleep time. I just leave for work 20 minutes earlier. In my case, that doesn't mean waking up earlier, since I have to wake up at 6 to get Sid ready anyway. Seems like a good deal all the way around. I have my backpack with the bare essentials and my work shirt.

I have to walk home at lunch break and then take the car back to work, though, because I have to pick Sid up from school afterwards, and though it wouldn't be a bad bike ride, it would take too long for me to get her and get us home walking. Plus I can't fit her on my bike and I don't trust her biking down the very busy road, even if we are together.

Anyhow, I'm pretty excited. Saving time, doing the body some good, and probably feeling more awake and alert at work. Oh, and I DO save gas this way! I've done it before, and it was nice.I think I'm giong to do this until it gets too cold. Maybe even when it's cold, but I'm not making any commitments to freezing my butt off just yet.

I hope to start mentally needing to exercise like some people do.. I kind of envy those that say they just don't feel good if they have to miss their exercise. Because frankly I hate to exercise. But I really do find that if there is another purpose, like if I am walking to get to work and not just to be walking, or even to save gas, it feels more like something that I can fit in.

Walking to work in the morning is a great idea! You're not only helping to save the environment, but you're also helping to save your health!

Way to go!
