Walktoberfest Walking challenge for October! Bring your feet & let's STEP IT UP!
Starting October 1, Walktoberfest walking challenge. Let's keep walking through October and see if we can get healthier, stronger and keep this walking routine up.
SEPTEMBER; I got up early to see my son off to school (he is in high school) and I was missing the earlier years so I took a walk to see the elementary kids waiting for the bus. So adorable (most of them..lol) While on my walk I decided to challenge myself to walk each school morning during the month of September.
Any one else wanna join me?
I use a pedometer so I am going to track my steps/mileage starting on Sept. 1
eh, WTHay, I will start reporting today
Aug 28~ 1Hour,7607Steps,3.5Miles- Aug 28~ 7607 steps
- Aug 31~ 7025
- Sept 1~ 7542
I am going to have to take this to a journal post if nobody joins me :(
Oh, I can feel the fat melting away step by step! :D
This is an AWESOME challenge. Two weeks ago I started walking my step-daughter home from school on weather-acclimated days. Her school is .8 miles away so it's a nice 1.6 mile walk for me. Since we go to church there, I want to try walking to/from meetings and occasionally, home after mass (not willing to walk there and be all sweaty for church). So, while I won't be joining you for the entire challenge in the way you are doing it, I am doing back-to-school walking of my own. I only have her every other week. I'll try to remember to check your journal and this thread and post with my progress as well as keep up to date on yours.
Good luck!!
Yay! I love it when I find people who's like-minded! I was getting so excited about the prospect of going walking when the kids started back to school that I couldn't (wouldn't, really) wait. All of last week I walked while my oldest son biked along in front of me.
I don't have a pedometer, but the other day I kept an eye on my odometer while driving the area I walk, and it is approx. 4 kms, which takes me 50 minutes to walk.
From here on out I will be walking considerably slower because my daughter will be rolling along (in her stroller), and my mother is coming along as well. On the odd days that I have the chance to go by myself, I may do a jog/walk combo, depending on how cold the air is getting (the colder it is, the harder to breath- I have asthma).
Do you ladies live in a warmer climate? I'm in Atlantic Canada.
I'll join you. I've been walking with my husband most evenings lately. We've got a nice quiet back road that we walk. The total down and back is about 5K which is helping me prepare for the 5K I will be walking at the end of the month. I don't have a pedometer (yet - we just ordered 2 over the weekend). So for now I'll just post my times/distance.
Sept 1 - 60 minutes 5K (3.2miles)
Sept 2 - 60 minutes 5K (3.2miles)
It has been very hot here the past few days. We usually go out around 7pm. When we got back this evening at 8pm it was still 80 degrees and very humid.
Great! Thanks for joining me, it will keep me inspired to walk the whole month for sure. I am hoping this daily walking will lead to a few extra pounds off this month. I may get over zealous and walk on the weekends too, I think I have a touch of OCD (self diagnosed of course) :)
LET'S GET TO STEPPING!
I only walked for 20 minutes today, it was pretty cool and misty outside. I feel like I had a good workout though- I was pushing my 35lb daughter in a stroller and my butt was really feeling it!
Didn't get a walk in yesterday and only got in 25 minutes today. It looked like it could rain/storm at any minute and we didn't want to end up too far from home in a down pour/storm. I'm hoping to get in lots of walking this weekend though. The temperatures are supposed to be in the low to mid 80s so that will be a plus.
PS. I should be receiving my pedometer early next week. I'll start posting steps as soon as I get it.
Sept 4~ 8500, with extra hills! :)
Had a great walk yesterday and today. Yesterday I walked 80 minutes, approx 6 kms, today walked for one hr, approx 5.7 kms.
7825, that takes me about 1 hour and equals aprox. 3 1/2 miles. It may be raining tomorrow so I might be forced to wait till monday to walk again. :)
May I still join for this challange? I too walk every morning after I drop little one off at school. The track is .56 miles, usually I walk for 60 mins and walk about 3.36 miles. I need to get a better pedometer(mine sucks) I hear Ormon makes a great one that you keep in your pocket and it is accurate within 5% and it comes with software so you can keep track of everything, thats the one I want. Anyhow....I am rambling on.. I walk Monday thru Friday...Someome message me please and let me know if I may join in, then I will post my steps.
It was raining yesterday so I didn't get in a walk but did two today.
100 minutes about 5 1/2 miles total
It was raining today so I didn't walk. I did a different workout, but hopefully I will be able to walk tomorrow.
7500 steps for my early morning walk.. The air was fresh and cool when I started.
lucky you at 8:30 am it was already hot and humid and I actually havnt gone yet, will go this afternoon. Do we only count the steps for our walk or the whole day?
I went for a 30 minute walk Saturday night, but it was completely dark outside and I was a bit nervous about it!
Nothing today, as I came down with an awful cold yesterday and feel terrible!
texaspeach, I'm not counting steps, as I don't have a pedometer and thus far have no plans to get one. I just count the time and approximate distance. I think halizabeth is just counting the steps from her daily walk, but feel free to post both if you wish!
8100 today. I am only posting steps from my walk. I will add more distance/steps each week till I get up to 10,000 per walk, maybe by the end of September :)
I would like to walk at night sometimes, but I am afraid some kid toy left on the sidewalk would trip me up :\
