Good morning Music Chat :D

Wow! Where are all the chatters this morning. Has there been a national crisis? hee hee

It's eerie.

It's almost like, without an election to fight about, we have nothing to say.

I for one am glad to see the forum settle down about politics. I like some politic talk but not ALL politic talk. It seemed for a few weeks that's all we talked about

Well, it was an important election - and a rejection of the 30 years of baby boomer ego-tripping that's been the basis of the steady drifting off into wingnuthood of american politics ;)

And now, some of us are having postelection fatigue, apparently.

It did become rather all-encompassing.  So, in other news, I'm looking forward to decorating for Christmas this year.  Not sure why, because some years I couldn't care less, but this year I'm feeling festive.

split, I am so ready for Chirstmas. I've got half my shopping done and am going to get the tree up in the next week.

Okay - you're WAY ahead of me on the shopping - and seriously?  Tree up that early?  We're thinking about a "Hang Your Balls on our Tree" party - likely on November 29th

sounds like a fun party hee hee.

Yep getting the tree up early is what I aim for. It's far too much trouble to put up for only a few weeks. I have to bake and get all the presents wrapped. I take care of my elderly in laws and my MIL has Alzheimer's so I get what I can done early.

About the only thing I've got planned is the baking - parents are hard to find presents for.

I'm having company from church over on November 16, so I'm putting the tree up before that.  I sure hope my lights work!!!

I'm baking for Christmas again this year...  Except for my local niece and nephew.  I'm making them mix CD's of world music.  I do that every year.  Fortunately, they are both very musically inclined, so are open to listening to all different kinds of music.  YAY!

melkor, what are you going to bake? MMM I'm going to make pumpkin rolls, a variety of cookies and pies.

that's a good idea long. My son is really good at that too. He just did a bunch of songs for my moms 25th anniversary this weekend. UGHH I've got too much cake at home. I'm not doing well staying away from sweets.

*sets out cake for everyone*

parents are hard to find presents for

My brother, sister and me got together one year and gave our parents a nice calendar.  The thing was, each one of us was responsible for 4 months out of the year, and we planned special family events for mom & dad.  For example, a day helping in the garden, a trip to a country fair, dinner and a show - it was the one thing that they really wanted - time spent with their family.   Plus, it wasn't overly expensive for us.  Smile

What an awesome idea, Split!  That's cool!

I'm making Magic in the Middle cookies...  Those are always a hit...  And I will throw some other varieties in there...  Like maybe snickerdoodles.  Those are also a big hit...  And maybe one other kind of cookie.

Hmm, you may be on to something there - better than trying to find something they'd find useful around the house. I've thought about giving them a few nice bottles of wine, but that only works for one set of parents; mom doesn't drink.

I'm mostly going for gingerbread men, a few varieties of sugar cookies, and umm, I think - coconut tops? Some of the traditional ones, at any rate.

Okay - I've put up the tree.  Well, technically it's a picture of last year's tree.

I've never had luck with gingerbread men. Mine always come out like rocks. Whats the secret?

Nice tree, you have lots of balls.

*wakes up at the mention of gingerbread*

Hullo!
