Do you want to be my buddy? :)

Quote  |  Reply

Hi everyone!

I need some motivation! Here's a bit about me:

After reaching my weight goal (130 lb, 5 ft 3-ish) two years ago, I entered a vicious spiral of too much work, too much stress, too much food and too little exercise. Now, at 22, I weigh 180 lb, and my highest was 185 a month ago. I feel miserable and unhealthy, but even with all the motivation and pep-talk I give myself, I still find it difficult to stick to exercising and a good diet. So, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have a buddy on this list in order to "keep me in check" on my weight loss goal. I'd like to lose 10 lb by Christmas, and keep on losing until I reach 130-125 lbs and feel healthy and energetic again!

Good luck with your goals, everyone!

hey ivy I am in a similar situation, I weighed 178 after my daugher was born and lost 45 pounds over a 10 month period. I maintained for two years, but then my son was born and I am back up to 168. I am pretty type A so if you want a buddy who will nag you to death I am your girl. :)

You guys have similar stats to me.  I'm 5'3" and 161.4 as of this morning.  I started back in late June at around 175 (could have been 173, not sure didn't have a scale at the time).  The weight is coming off super slowly but that's how I want to do it.  I don't want to put the weight back on.  It's a huge lifestyle change for me.  :)

Hi Ivy - I'm in a similar situation.  5'3" and 173 as of this morning.  I was on Weight Watchers for two years and did well but I'm burnt out on their program.  I quit for about 5 months and gained about 5-6 lbs and then decided a week ago that I'm so tired of seeing the 'flab' in the mirror.  I've been in total denial.  I love to eat, a LOT and it takes about an act of Congress to get me motivated enough to do some exercise.  Between the lack of true exercise and my affinity to Miller Light on the weekends I am a hopeless case sometimes.

I need a good buddy to keep me on track to - so maybe we can work together.  You can keep me in check and keep me motivated and I'll do the same for you.

Today's biggest hurdle for me is that our cafe is serving beef enchiladas for lunch and I LOVE them...but I packed my lunch instead.  Yes, it's boring and not as tasty as a delicious enchilada but at least I'm not totally guilt ridden right now.

One step at a time, right?  We can do this!

I'll be your buddy. Im 5'5 at 185 lbs.

Add me on msn so we can get to know each other =)

Hello,

I'm Denise - I am 5' 2 1/2" ( you know that when your short you have to make sure everyone knows that you have that extra half haha ) I just turned 33 in July and spent a week with my family at the beach. When we got back and looked at pictures I was like WOW I don't really look as good as my husband tells me everyday. As of September 23rd I was at 157 and on a short frame, that is not great. So I started looking for some help on-line, I found a cookbook with 200 recipes under 200 calories that has changed the way I look at food. If you really know how many calories are in the things we eat every day, its gross. I not only make these things for myself but for my husband and 16 year old daughter as well. We all weighted ourselves monday I lost 7lbs, my daughter started at 159 and is now at 149 a 10lb lost, and my husband lost 11 lbs men they always have to do better. lol

Most of it is just in the calories we take in everyday. We used to stop at the local coffee house of a pumpkin latte and the fast food favorite for a  sausage, egg and cheese muffins and oh a yummy hashbrown, and for lunch you name it greasy burger, taco, and fries what ever was easy and fast.  Now we make our own coffee, a cup of regular black, with a tbls of sugar free french vanilla  powder creamer and 2 tsp cool whip free and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice, you have a pumpkin latte for 50 calories. For breakfast, have a egg mug scramble: eggs, veggie sausage, laughing cow cheese for me and cheddar for them, top it off with a little salsa for about 196 calories Yummy, and for lunch a baked potato with a little no calorie butter spray, non fat sour cream half of slice veggie bacon about 200 calories, or a wrap with shredded chicken, laughing cow cheese, using a lot of lettuce and tomatoes for filler, with LaTortilla Factory wheat tortillas at 80 calories each total calories around 270. I save a few calories for an adult drink with dinner, I don't starve my family, but with the healthy choices I am making lately, they also get the benefits, we eat a lot of normal food still: take hamburgers when we cook them I will eat only 1/2 the bun saving 100-150 calories, tomatoes mustard jalapenos ans pickles and use lettuce as the top to hold it together, with around 285 calories.  I skip the mayo but there is low fat out there you could use. Before watching my calories we could of easily had 3500 calories a day now I have around 1200 and I feel so much better, and fitting into your jeans better is not a bad side affect. :)

I would love to have a buddy, hope to talk to you soon!!

Hi all,

Thank you for your messages! It's good to know that there are other people going through what I'm going through. That in itself is inspiring :)

I've been a bit off the radar the past few days because I caught a cold and could barely do anything :( So, my exercise this week has been just walking from home to my grad school (about 30 min each way) which is not bad, but is barely the amount of exercise recommended per day... I'd probably require more than that.

I belong to a gym at my grad school, but I find it difficult to make time between labwork and classes... and I am barely motivated to do anything when I'm sick. How do you guys deal with scheduling between workouts and work and life? And, what do you do in terms of exercise in those days when you feel so sick you can barely get up from bed?

-Enjoy the weekend - and be strong and motivated to reach your goals!

I would like to join too!

I am 5'3 and as of two weeks ago I weighted at 171.4 lbs. My weight ins are on Sundays, so tomorrow is the big day. I run 3x/week most of the time, and will start a new regimen of strength training 4x/week starting Monday. I am also going to run my first 5K on Oct.18. I eat clean most of the time, and my calorie intake is between 1200-1400 with it being mostly protein and carbs, and low fat. Lots of water and fiber.

Most important things to know about me is that I HATE working out, even when I like the activity. I also don't give up easily, not matter how many times I fail, I give myself as many chances to succeed as necessary, because I believe that I am worth it and deserve it. My biggest obstacle is that I get bored fast and lose motivation, so I need to keep myself constantly challenge.  Cool

Hey there,

I am 5'6, mother of two and weigh 241. I have just renewed my commitment to weight loss and started a blog. Check out my profile for more info. Its my way of staying accountable and really doing it!

I'll love support and buddies! I have a huge journey ahead of me. We can definitely do it together! Check out my goals on my blog. I kept most of them this week. I weigh myself on Monday and will post my wt. I'm also planning to post pictures, but not feeling brave enough yet.

Off to go swimming with my kids! Workout #3 this week.
