What do want on your burger?

Quote  |  Reply
I love, love, love avocados.  Specifically, on a boca burger with alfalfa sprouts on a nice whole wheat bun.  Avocados are just so high in calories that I'm wondering if anyone might suggest a good substitute.  Any ideas?

What's your favorite burger toppings?  Healthy or otherwise.

Ketchup, lettuce, onion, tomato.

But I almost never eat hamburger buns. I'd rather eat rice or a sweet potato with my burgers than spend 200 calories on a bun. Personal preference I guess.

How about just eating the avocado?  Forget the burger and the bun, you don't need them.  Avocado beats the pants off of those things in nutritional quality.

Try this for a change:  Get a big jicama root.  Cut it into "bread" slices.  Cover it in avocado, sprouts, and whatever else you like.  I like using pineapple salsa on this.

As a happy consequence, the "just eat an avocado" plan is significantly cheaper too.
I put my burger in a la tortilla factory tomato basil wrap(100c) with avacado, lowfat cheese and salsa.. yummmyyy.. I do this with veggie , turkey  or beef burgers.

venix... I love Jicama... what a great idea... I need to look at new ways of eating it instead of just plain.
Mayo, Dill Pickle Slices, White Onion, American Cheese!!!
barbecue sauce

cheddar cheese

sauteed onions

YUM!

I don't know what Jicama root is, but I'll look for it tonight. I'm always game to try something new.  Thanks for the suggestions.
Must be very lean, organic beef, grilled to perfection, on a whole grain roll, with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and catsup, nothing more.
I like mine classic: lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, mayonnaise, mustard, and ketchup.  I use fat free mayo btw.
I like mine with kethcup and tomato...
ketchup and lettuce babbyyyy

alright so i agree 200 cals for abun is useless but not if your eating at in and out where the bun is the most amazing part!! they have a lowcarb protein style where its wrapped in lettuce but i just cant resist.
mustard. just mustard. i love me some mustard. ? haha
ketchup, fat free cheese, and lots of grilled onions. thats it. I like to keep it simple. but it tastes sooo good.

I like a large lettuce leaf with my burgers instead of the bun. I had this for lunch once, and it was aaaamazing:

large lettuce leaves as the "bread", sliced avacado, tomato, some black beans, a little bit of corn salsa and some hot mustard. Mmmm!
