I want chocolate now... I can't have chocolate. I need to lose weight... help!
think of your long term goals and do some crunches!
you can have chocolate, just plan to allot it into your daily calories.
How about some 100 calorie pack chocolate snacks, SmartOnes frozen deserts, or WW brownies?
Don't have any of those in stock. I have a convenience store that's right next to my apartment.
I exercised vigorously today, went to an aerobics and spin class this morning, but had all of my caloric allotment for the day.
I think it's fading... I'm so happy cc exist
It's good to know that your craving's going away. Well done! Do remember to treat yourself once in awhile though. Don't go overboard like me.. I ate a whole load of ginger cookies, sugar cookies and Cadbury chocolate yesterday. X_x
I just ate one of these bars, ZonePerfect Fudge Graham, and they are soooo yummy and chocolatey. Plus they get an A in the food log. I buy them from Costco and highly recommend them as meal replacement for chocolate lovers on a diet.
I just changed my activity level to light, because I am going to the gym everyday. It told me to change my caloric intake to 1700 (yikes!) I've been doing well on 1400 calories (I wasn't exercising as much) I'm kind of afraid to increase it.
If you need a 300 cal boost and need chocolate go to the store and buy protein powder. Then do this in a blender:
- 1-2Scoops Protein Powder
- 1 Tbs Instant Sugar-Free Fat-Free Pudding (I like Choco Fudge the best)
- 1 Tbs Hershey's Cocoa Powder
- 1 Tbs Decaf Instant Coffee (brings out flavor)
- 1 Tsp Vanilla
- Lotta Ice
Holy Moely... that's all I gotta say about that. You blend that sucker right with a little water and a lotta ice and geez... you have a blended brownie that will aide your recovering muscles and add the cals and quench your chocolatey craving
Or for another fun protein packed treat, do 1-2 scoops of protein powder (I like designer whey or champion pure whey stack) and a spooful of PB, water and ice and blend. It's like a reeces ice cream treat!
The other thing i do for chocolate cravings is get dark chocolate and eat just a bit of it. Dove minitures are good for that. Dark is better because it's more satisfying chocolate wise. Just suck on them and let it disolve in your mouth. One piece of the dove chocolate is only 50 calories.
Like others said too, plan for your splurges if you want. Have a day where you eat lower calorie meals and then have a yummy dessert or a chocolate bar if you really need it. Not ALL the time obviously, but don't completely deny yourself.
Lindor Truffle balls 78 cals, and a lot of places sell them individual. Dont stress about upping your calories, if you are really feeling shaky, just add 100 cals a week for 3 weeks until you are where you need to be. If you see a weight gain during one of the weeks than give yourself a break to re-evaluate. :)
.
We all have to solve this problem in a way that works for us. I have found a small candy , Milk Duds, that takes a while to eat and satisfies my chocolate need. Find yours and remember portion control!
They say if you eat dark chocolate it's better for you plus you dont want as much of it. (like you do milk chocolate) Or like the others say i dont think deprivation is the way if you must just remember portion control! If you deprive yourself of something you love you want it all the more.
Clarice
You can eat everything but in moderation, do the portion control and look at the serving size. If you want chocolate - eat dark. You just need to plan your calories for the day, and you can eat cookies or chocolate or whatever you crave.
Yeah, I make something chocolatey pretty much every day. I eat everything from silken tofu/cocoa powder, chocolate whey, hot cocoa, chocolate pudding etc etc. Why go without?
You're working out every day? Sounds like you're a bit more than lightly active... very active, depending on how hard you go at it. And you're supposed to eat back half of what you burn anyway, so don't sweat it so much. I think it helps to include a serving of 60% cocoa chocolate in your log from the get go to eat whenever you want; it's about 220 calories, which is fine for a snack, and is a heck of a lot more satisfying than milk/white chocolate. Knowing you're actually allowed chocolate means it doesn't have that "forbidden fruit" appeal that makes binging so tempting.
Something full of chocolatey deliciousness is the Clif Zbar chocolate brownie flavor. Or have a few hershey kisses. 20 calories each, I believe.
72% Dark Chocolate or Bitter Sweet Dark Chocolate from Trader Joes. One square pretty much satisfies my craving, and it's only ~70 calories. With other "chocolates" or milk chocolate I can eat it all day and just be more hungry.
Silk LIGHT Chocolate Soymilk helps me curb my chocolate cravings. It's also high in Omega fatty acids, protein, and deliciousness. Sometimes I blend it with a banana for a filling smoothie.
Sugar free chocolate pudding.
I do the chocolate protein too minus the coffee but I'm going to have to add that in!! Sounds great =)
Another good one is a White Chocolate & Banana shake
- 1-2 scoops vanilla protein powder
- 1/2 Banana
- 3 tablespoons fat-free/sugar-free white chocolate Jell-O pudding mix
- 8-12 ounces skim milk or water if you prefer
- 3 ice cubes
Blend it about 45 seconds and enjoy!

I used to think the same thing until I learned something recently. I was watching a show the other day about this engaged couple that were trying to lose around 50 pounds before their wedding. They were exercising like maniacs and at one point their nutritionist told them they now need to increase their calorie intake. The couple didn't listen because they were concerned about gaining weight back. Some time later they found that they were not losing weight at all. The nutritionist explained the reason that you have to increase your calorie intake when you are exercising more is because your body will think it's starving and will cease to lose any more weight. Once the couple increased their calorie intake they continued to lose weight.
I used to plateau at times and not lose any weight and I had no idea why. So I guess this explains it.
ha, what a funny thread.. my chocolate craving didn't go away this morning. i had a starbucks hot chocolate, cinnamon roll, chocolate chip muffin and a payday candy bar all before 9:00am ughhhhh my stomach hurts.
