What do you want for christmas?
So, what is everybody asking for for christmas this year?
And is the downfall of the economy affecting you or your family and how your christmas season will be?
My list:
- A car!!!
- Peacoat
- Skinny jeans
- itunes giftcards
- boots
- any other clothes people want to get me :)
- a scale... haha we don't have one at my house
- blackberry pearl
- dorm stuff (for college next year!!!!)
I know the economy is affecting my family... my parents income this year is going to be about 1/3 less!!
I've never really been one to ask for stuff for christmas. If I can find something that I need, I will tell my parents or whoever asks. Especially with how the economy is, I will feel guilty for anything my parents buy for me this year b/c i would rather it goes towards their house payment. But that's just how I am.
oh, my parents always make me write up a list for them...
Well I'm still curious to see what everyone else says!!! :)
Once all the kids left the house (not my house, im talking about the parents), we stopped having a "real" holiday with a bunch of gifts and moved to getting a few bigger ones. It always seemed that we didnt really want much that was outside of the normal yearly buys. So, each year i ask for something i wouldnt normally get. (normally do that for birthday too)
This year, Im gettin this! wee
I like this system a lottt better then getting a bunch of little gifts.
I'm asking for some clothes because unless your 120lbs it's impossible to shop in Korea. I'm also asking for some shoes since I wear a size 10 I can only buy Vans and Converse here...
.. It's not even December yet. :|
I don't really have things I ask for any more, never seems to be something I want really bad, just things I like and would probably only get if I had money to burn lol...can only ever think of everyday stuff. Last year my brother and I got a PS3 though. This year I don't know, maybe an MP3 player? Transformer so I can use my European plug hair straightener? lol. I could use new clothes, but a gift certificate would be pretty lame to open up :P
I don't really bother with Christmas anymore I could easily forget all about it.
Bah-humbug!
aww, but christmas is so cheerful! cakes and cookies and eggnog and snow and decorations and warm clothes!
I've told my parents they can just put some money in my American bank account that I use strictly for paying student loans. Other than that, there's not much I want or need.
Husband and I are taking a Christmas trip to South Africa and not exchanging any gifts this year. I can't wait to see elephants in the wild.
Happiness and health for my family. See my son have a nice Christmas and a new vacuum cleaner.

Well I did have a brief second when I considered splashing out this year and buying ONE strip of tinsel......
Then one of my work colleagues reminded me that we are in a recession and it would cost slightly more....
So that knocked that on the head!
first of all, i ♥ the holidays :)
My family does a secret santa and we have to make lists (half my family are terrible gift-givers.. I got an XXL jersey last year for my bday that wasn't even an authentic jersey and I am 5'7" and weigh 140lbs... yes, it's thought that counts, but now it's collecting dust :( and it's too big for my b/f even.. ah well.. and my parents took the tags off and it couldn't be returned.. and another year my sister spent the whole $$ limit on buying me scrapbooking stuff.. I never have and never showed interest in scrapbooking.... )
I just ask for things I wouldn't normally buy myself.. a cute pair of boots, trying again with the Brown's jersey this year, I need 20 lbs weights so I'm hoping for those, a watch, idk.. nothing crazy..
last night my b/f asked what I wanted from him and I just said one full day together with no plans, no interruptions, no homework, no cleaning... just snuggling and relaxing :) that's cheap and easy, right?
I love giving gifts.. just wish I had more $$.. <-- who doesn't though..
andie-joe: I think I'm going to make garland out of air popped popcorn this year ... I'm going uber-cheap!
I think my gift this year will be my parents paying for my grad school applications, because there's no way on a student budget I can afford it.
Sending in GRE scores = $20
School application fee = $50-$70
Number of schools = as many as I can afford
I don't understand why these people charge so much to submit a lousy online application. I mean, I already paid $140 for the PRIVILEGE of taking the GRE, and now I have to spend an extra $20 for them to send an email???
Bah humbug.
love, peace, and happiness for all around me, and all that I know.
that's what's up![]()
I've always tried to get gifts that the individual would like and that suits their personality - it takes thought and imagination. Then I would get people asking me 'what can we get you we don't know what you want' - aagghh
It's a token, a gesture, use your imagination. I would rather someone thinks about what to get me than ask me to tell them. I know I will end up with crap sometimes but it's the fact that they have bothered that counts for me.
My boyfriend's mother leaves it until the last minute and then asks me to buy something for my boyfriend and him to buy something for me because she can't be bothered to do it herself. That bugs me alot. I'd rather she didn't bother at all.
Sorry that sounds like a rant and I don't mean to offend people who do make lists, it's just not the way I work.
Anyway gifts are all additional to what I really like at Christmas which is spending time with my family.
I am asking for a bathroom scale.
This should be the first year that I am light enough to actually use one. am currently 321 and expect to be down to 300 by the new year or slightly there-after. Since mosts scales now will go to 330, that is what is on my list. :)
That and lots of Tollhouse cookies.....lol. Ok, not as many as usual, I guess. ;-)

Totally agree :)
I really want a Garmin navigation system..
That'll do. :-)
The older I get the less Christmas seems to matter. But I guess Ill ask for clothes or something. Or just buy them myself. I too feel bad for asking for anything because the American economy has definitley affected where I live and my home life.
I think Id rather buy stuff for other people.
The economy topped with my mom being forced to retire due to illness has really affected us. For the first time ever we will have no stockings and will not exchange gifts (mom, dad, grandma, brother, sister-in-law, etc). I'm not baking goodies for neighbors or co-workers either. The only people getting gifts are the kids.
But! We'll have a pretty xmas tree up, cinnamon buns and hot chocolate to drink, we will have each other, I won't have to be at work and I get to spend the day chillin' with my boy playing video games! Sweet!
