"I Want, So Much, To Eat This Cookie" and other thoughts that are bad
Right now, at this very moment, I'm staring at the cookie that came with my lunch. I did the math and I wouldn't have much of a dinner if I ate this White Chocolate Chip Macadamia Nut Cookie, but still it's sugary deliciousness sings to me.
Earlier I gave into my less than low-cal lunch, but it was tasty and made deli-fresh, so I can forgive that. I didn't even touch the potato chips that came with it. I was proud that I had some semblance of control... But then the cookie came out of the box and I've been staring at it... like at any minute it will talk to me... tell me that it doesn't actually have any calories. It is the cookie, afterall, it would know.
I want the Nom-Nom-Cookie-Of-Yumminess... -sob-
What do you mean 'cookie that came with my lunch'?.... and 'the potato chips' Sounds like some 'meal deal'?.... Why don't you make your own lunch sans cookie and chips?
You can make it really tough to eat well by lazily buying ready-put-together fast food meals or you can make it easy for yourself ....... Eat the cookie & chips. Enjoy the cookie & chips. But if you really want to be slimmer..... put in a little more effort and make yourself a healthy lunch tomorrow.
I get free lunch on Saturdays so I just deal with what they bring me, it's never too bad, but the cookie... oh how I want the cookie...
I wish I were at home where I could make jello...
Eat the cookie.... Don't eat the cookie.... It's entirely your call. You are 100% responsible for what you eat or don't eat. No-one can decide what you eat besides you. You're not at home eating jello you're at work. Deal with it. It'll make no difference whatsoever to your weight-loss either way. But if you do decide to eat it, don't skimp on your supper.
When you have those types of lunches you have to prepare for the worst. Try cutting back on calories for one meal that way you'll have room for lunch ( even the cookie). But sometimes you have to except the fact that you have to cut some foods out.
"Thoughts that are bad."
Look at the cookie and think instead, "I want so badly to skip my dinner for this piece of empty sugar."
Or don't look at it at all.
Or throw it out.
Or just eat the damn cookie and stop beating yourself up over it.
I work at a car dealership and on saturdays lunch is provided for us. Trying to save money they decided that each saturday morning we go to walmart and buy the things needed tomake sandwiches... meats, breads, cheeses, lettuce, tomato, etc... and chips & cookies. Up until I started CC i would just eat the free lunch... it's just a sandwich right? How bad can chips and cookies be? BAD!!!
I have been bringing my own lunch since about the 2nd week on CC. It's so much easier to know that what I'm eating is good and not have to worry about only having a sandwich and that's all until i get off at 6pm. (I work 10 hours on saturday - we don't leave for lunch)
I would suggest bringing simple things. For example... today I brought a pouch of tuna & added some mustard (which we had for the sandwiches) and then I brought a v8, some light string-cheese, and some sugar free jello. It may not be the BEST thing... but, when you are trying to run out the door @ 7:45 and be at work at 8... it's easy to grab and throw in a plastic sack & stick in the fridge at work. I just bring my jug for water & fill it up at the fountain and tada!!
...Also, if i'm cut for time & can't grab multiple items I'll grab a lean cuisine out of the garage & head to work.
:)
I work at a car dealership too...
I'm the recptionist on the weekends though and we aren't allowed to move, even to pee, unless it's an absolute emergency. So I just wait for people to bring me my lunch... It's not so bad. The cookie craving went away. Now it's just a cookie on the desk, ontop of nutrition facts... taunting every customer that walks in.
Yeah I'm a receptionist/cashier... but, they don't care if i leave my desk even if it is to pee! There are other people who can pick up from their desks if need be. Maybe you could bring a lunchbox with stuff that stays cold & eat from your desk. That way when you're hungry you don't have to wait & if you need a snack you've got one handy to tie you over til it's time to leave.
Not sure why you are torturing yourself with that cookie staring at you! I would have just thrown it away or given it away immediatley.
You could always just eat half or a quarter of the cookie...
Everyone is different and what works for one person won't necessarily work for the next, but... there's no harm in having a treat once in a while as long as you don't have them constantly and eat giant portions.
Out of sight, out of mind....I would toss it, give it away, or if you have kids or someone at home who can eat the cookie, tuck it away for them. Don't skip on a healthy supper for some measly little cookie!
well like others have said...it's completely your choice....
even if it "comes" with your meal you can maybe ask for a healthier alternative (like a pice of fruit if that's an option) or if you get it and really really want it but will feel guilty with all those calories just eat half and throw the rest out...and the final option over all else is just to throw it out...it's completely up to you...it's not about willpower or depriving yourself but knowing what your body needs AND wants from time to time and then you base your decision on that....
personally I would have asked for a healthier alternative (I know Panera for example will give you an apple instead of a bag of chips) or if it looks awesome would have ate half of the cookie and thrown the rest out...remember depriving yoruself too much can also have severe reprucussions as well...
use your judgement, it's better than you think!
Can you ever prepare in advance for the attack of the Macadamian nut cookie? Aren't they just shy of a bazillion calories per bight? I would totally have to just flush it or chuck it out to the seagulls, or glue it directly to my rear-end, since that is where it would end up if I ate it. That is tough! I really hope you did well in your decision and don't go to sleep tonight regretting what ever you did. ![]()
I think maybe you've had a coupla harsh replies that were missing the humor of your original post. You gave me a good giggle with "Nom-Nom-Cookie-Of-Yumminess"
I think if this were me, I'd eat half the cookie to appease the sugar greed in myself. Otherwise, I may find myself still thinking about a sugary cookies tomorrow or the next day.
I also think if I were you, I'd do one of two things, start bringing better things to eat and asking one of the dealers raoming around the front like they do, to bring me my lunch, or two I'd start chalking Saturdays up to a little higher calorie day and go with it. Personally, I'd rather spend a higher calroie day out at lunch and a movie..but it's all choices, huh?
Good luck with the cookie of Yumminess !
Step away from the cookie and no one will get hurt.
Seriously though, I agree with sereniticat. I would have taken a bite and then thrown the rest in the garbage. That way I would have gotten the yummy taste but not all the calories of the whole thing. And I wouldn't be thinking about it for the next week wishing I had treated myself. Also, if I tucked it away to take home to the kids, there would be no way it would make it home.
Hope you made it through.
