I want a healthier lifestyle before baby #2!
My husband and I have been planning for about 4 months now to start trying for our second child at the end of next month. But while we were planning, I had goals that I wanted to achieve before TTC (trying to conceive). 1 was getting a running vehicle, which we have done successfully, another was to get my son to a point where he can tell me what he needs (basically) and that is almost there, and the other was to get my body back in shape for #2!
And that is far from finished. I am on prenatal vitamins and other things, but I can NOT seem to lose the baby weight from #1. In fact, I went on a diet for a while and went down to 179 lbs! I was so ecstatic to finally be in the 170s again......but I gained it all back because I just got too lazy to do the same workout routine every day. But it's hard to find a workout that holds my interest WHILE I can watch my son. I need help! Anything you ladies have tried that held your interest AND alowed you to watch your child at the same time?
And one more question. If I still get pregnant in June-July, would it be ok for me to try to continue to lose weight (as long as I know I'm eating enough to sustain the baby and myself)?

No, it is not okay to lose weight while pregnant unless okayed by your doctor. It should also not be done without the close supervision of your OB, physician and a nutritionist. It is okay to lose weight up until that point. I think one of the few reasons a doctor will okay this is if the mother's weight will effect the health of herself and/or the baby.
I have heard of women not gaining weight and even losing weight while pregnant. They leave the hospital after delivery weighing less than they did pre-pregnancy. This is, as stated above, done under strict medical supervision.
Is it worth the risk of depriving your baby of nutrients in order to lose weight? You'll never know FOR SURE that you're eating enough for baby while losing weight if you do it on your own.
Anyway, how old is your child? Did you have a c-section? How tall are you? These figures would be handy to know in order to offer advice :) There are plenty of workout DVDs that allow you to use your baby as weights/resistance. My 6-month-old son loves "flying" while I use him for weight lifting. Keep in mind that you don't have to do a long workout. You could do three 10-minute workouts each day instead of one 30-minute long workout. I always have more success exercising while my kids nap. Do you have Exercise TV? They have tons of different routines that are shorter.
My son is 15 months old. I delivered him naturally, and I'm 5'7" ish. It kind of bums me out that I didn't get cracking on my weight sooner so I could reach my goal weight before pregnancy. I guess it will just teach me a lesson for next time~ Thanks for your advice.
I know how you feel about still have baby #1's weight and wanting to start out with # 2. I am already there. I am 10 weeks with #2 and have 30 more lbs to start out with than I did with #1. I am trying not to get discouraged and watch what I eat and keep an eye on the weight gain. I came to CC just before I found out I was pregnant and I was trying to lose weight. This site really helped me to understand what I was intaking and where I could cut stuff. I tried to get he diet down before I started excersizing too. A good power walk to the park or store on a nice day is a great place to start. I have also been doing squats in the bathroom at work just to get the blood pumping. A few minutes here and there really add up. Keep logging everything you eat, if you need write it down and enter it in later. Then just get moving, even if you dance around the living room with the little one fore 10 min - Use the activity tracker and you will see the extra calorie burn add up =)
Thanks for that. I will be sure to keep your advice in mind. Congrats on the pregnancy~ and plus you could always just do calories to maintain weight right? I mean, just because you can't lose doesn't mean you have to gain (more than is necessary for pregnancy). I think I should look somewhere to find out a healthy calorie intake for a pregnant woman so that I can still count calories and not have to worry about malnourishing baby. Luckily, I still have a couple of months to go before TTC, so I guess my goal should just be to try and get as much weight off as possible before then!
Thanks for the advice again, and good luck~!

Yes gelahope gaining more then is recommended by your ob is weight you are putting on and not part of the pregnancy process. It is doable. Mainly remember that you ARENT eating for 2. That is where women go wrong. in the first trimester our bodies only need 100 extra calories/day more then maintanence level.(whatever that is for you at your current weight) In 2nd trimester its 200 more/day and 3rd trimester its 300/day. When you think about it that isnt a lot. But most important is putting the right fuel into your body to start with. More complex carbs, lean meats, healthy fats like olive oil. colourful assortment of fruits and veggies etc. But if you have the odd craving dont beat yourself up. Have a small portion of whatever it is. And dont keep tempting foods in the house. When I was pregnant with my last I would get an ice cream about 2 times a week instead of buying a tub and keeping it in the house
