Want a leg workout? Visit Venice.
After 4 days in Venice, my legs are tired!
I knew there would be little bridges over the canals, but I expected the nice ramp kind, and instead they are all steps! Hundreds and hundreds of steps... Hours and hours of walking :)
And, no elevator in our hotel :D Room on the 3rd floor (North American 3rd floor, European 2nd floor).
Then add the sprinting through the airports, weaving around people, running up and down stairs and escalators...
Phew! :D What a great workout! ;)

LOL, you just brought back memories of my family's trip to Venice. We almost lost my 79 year old grandma a couple times because she WOULD. NOT. SLOW. DOWN. OR. STOP. woman's a powerhouse, wish I had her energy.
Hey, sweet. I'm going to Venice in April... Maybe i'll come back with some beautiful legs hehe...
Exercise aside, how was it, by the way?

Overcastkid, It was awesome :) Amazing food, really neat atmosphere. I loved the "traffic" on the canals - water boats, water taxis, police and ambulances and everything all boats :)
I think you'll really enjoy your trip - I did!
Pompey, My husband and I walk the same speed, but we were occasionally pushed apart by the other pedestrians. We agreed that if we ever got separated, we'd meet back at the hotel :)

Now you know why europeans are so much skinnier than us Americans. :-)
My DH and I prefer city vacations because they end up being walking vacations. We went to Vienna a few years back and walked our butts off every day, rarely taking advantage of the public transportation. We had coffee and pastry every day at 4 pm, drank Sturm (sp? - the new wine) and beer constantly, and ate like Kings but didn't gain a single pound. I was exhausted every night from all the walking - but then again, I was totally out of shape back then!!
More recently we went to Toronto, another walking vacation. And San Francisco - all those hills!! The San Fran trip I handled the best, because I had been walking every day for months and now my legs are much stronger.
We are hitting Madrid this summer - if anyone has any tips about what to do and see, please email me!

I'd love to go to Vienna! And Madrid :)
Its a little funny to hear of Toronto as a vacation destination, since I live about 45 minutes away. Generally when I go there, I walk a lot, too. Sometimes outside, sometimes using the underground PATH.

Thank you for the review... I'm glad you had a good time. It sounds amazing! :)
This will be my first holiday with the parental units so I'm really nervously excited. Suffice to say I am really looking forward to the food at least, lol.
