What do you want to do when you get out of high school or college? I'm a sophomore now and I'm starting to think about the colleges and career I want to pursuit.

I want to go to a good college that's far from where I live. My top college choices include UPenn, Harvard, University of Virginia, and Ithaca. I really want to go into foreign communications and learn either Japanese or Mandarin Chinese, if not a European language that's not very common in the U.S. (i.e. Dutch, Norweigen, Finnish, etc.).

I wouldn't mind getting a novel published either...

Psych with an emphasis on teens and suicidal behavior....  though id throw that all away for one chance to train and fight pro ^_^.

as a sophmore i wanted to get into UPenn [its alot harder than you think believe me] and don't consider Princeton it's dorms are seriously like prison cells haha

i'm in high school right now....senior . i want to go to PSU main campus or Juniata college because i want to triple major in Pre-Med, Pre-Law, and Dance

in college i want to do colorguard and maybe teach dance or choreograph my own show...this summer i'm going to work at Hospital of University of Penn and hopefully get a job there every summer and work there after undergrad

i dont even have any idea of where i'd want to go for grad school but i want to dance during grad school...

Yeah I have a friend who applied to Warton at UPenn. She's ranked #5 in her class and still didn't get in. I'm probably ranked around #15 so UPenns my "I know I'm not going to get in, but I'll waste the money anyway" school, haha.

When I get to college I'll probably join club and intramural teams, too. I really want to play college soccer, but I'm only going to be recruited by Division 3 schools, and the majority of the schools I want to go to are Division 1.

having gone both to college and a trade school, as well as having had two careers already, it is my goal to buy a used rv and live/travel across the united states and canada.  i don't mean just to travel but LIVE.  as in the rv being my "house".  it's a lifestyle that completely suits my restless nature, which i believe was instilled in me during my childhood, when we didn't live in some places for more than six months at a time.  it's something i only recently decided that i wanted, so i've just started setting and accomplishing the goals necessary to making my dream a reality.

also, i currently live in philadelphia, pa.  upenn is a darned fine school, and i highly recommend it.  also, philly is cheap to live in while still being close to new york city and various beaches (new jersey, delaware).  there's also tons to do here, most of which is free or inexpensive.  however, if you can get into *harvard*, def go!!! 

 

Hmm... I'm honestly not sure yet. My top choices for colleges are WashU (in St. Louis), Northwestern, and Harvard, though I haven't done an enormous amount of college hunting to tell if I absolutely will go there. Plus, I don't fancy being in major debt after going to a private college for 8 years (grad school). I'm leaning towards medicine/becoming a doctor with a possible accelerated program, but I'm having a lot of doubts on that since I don't know if that's what I truly want to do with my life yet.

As for my more unrealistic goals.... I'd like to make some serious progress in cancer research, write a best-selling or at least "good" novel, invent a new/better form of transportation/energy, and/or make a difference in the world.

I'm open to suggestions, though; I've been doing some major college/soul searching, and ended up more confused than I was a few hours ago...

i'm in 11th grade doing classes at a junior college at the moment. when i graduate from hs i'm gonna transfer to university of texas at austin, the art institute of dallas (have a scholarship but still unsure), academy of art university at san fransisco, or university of north texas. basically anyplace in an artsy urban environment that has a good graphic or advertising design program.

I want to walk you over to my chair, have you sit in it, pull the arm rest down, roll up a sleeve, and snap on a tourniquet.  After asking for verification of your identity I'll grab some alcohol wipes, a syringe, a needle, and ask you if you want the happy paper tape that comes off without problem or the evil tape of doom that sticks forever and when it finally comes off it leaves residue that can only come off with additional alcohol wipes.

I'll then assemble my needle, sterilise my favourite site, and slip a needle under your skin, and watch the blood flow.  After taking off the tournequet, removing the needle, and making you do my job by holding the gauze, I'll let the Vaccutainers take out their required amounts of blood, label the tubes, check your puncture site, and tape you up before sending you on your way.

Man, I love Phlebotomy.  I'd rather do in-patient than out-patient, but I'll take what I can get.  I finished school in October '07 :D

well I live in Australia so I think the eduation system is a bit different.

Once I leave high school I want to do a gap year (I heard this isnt a very popular thing in the U.S but  it is over here) maybe volunteering and working overseas if i can. Then I'll come back to aus and go to University, probably get a degree in International Development or something along those lines and hopefully work for an NGO or other humanitarian aid organisation, Unicef etc.

Totally out of college already. Absolutely hating the school loan debt that I have hanging over my head. Although, I can afford the monthly payments, some day will pay it off, and my debt isn't nearly as large as others (I got scholarships)--it's still a weight. It's not good to have. I'd rather be putting that money into an IRA or something that grows. So, be sure you are willing to accept the amount of debt you will incur at any one of your schools. Surely, you have affordable monthly payments with the programs that Direct Loans offers, but it's still debt and it accrues interest. And, you may not be initially as successful as you hope.

 

I would like to go back to school and get a more practical degree. Well, practical for me. Mine is in Biology (I was pre-med). But, I lack the passion anymore to go to medical school. I got EXTREMELY sick my senior year (they thought I had leukemia at one point!). So I never took the MCAT. Never got that high paying, illustrious, and serving job.

I'd like to go back and study nutrition or health care management. I don't want to be a doctor anymore. I want to work more closely with people and consult with them on nutrition and lifestyle changes.  

 

I also like photography and writing. Both of which I do now.

 

Good luck. Set high goals. Be practical. Work hard. Be willing to change your plan as you go along. Do it for yourself.

It is because of people like you I don't have any blood left in my arms!! haha, :-P

When I graduate from college, I would like to go into vet school, but as that is near impossible even if you have superb grades, chances are I will be going to graduate school, get a masters in biology or something along those lines, and end up doing research. It would be wonderful if I could do some kind of goverment research.

I am a freshman. I want to go to ASU!! woohoo!!!! I want to become a pharmacist.

I'd love to say I'm going to try for Oxford/Cambridge, but I got a B in one of my exams at 15, so I've been told not to even bother - they'll turn you away at the door. Not to mention that my parents would have to be interviewed too - its me going for a place there, not them!

So I'm going to try for Liverpool Hope and Newcastle/Manchester over here in the UK... And, just because I am curious, I may try for a US college too - I've checked the entry requirements for Yale, and with the course I'm doing (international baccalaureate), I need to get at least 2 level 6s at higher level, in subjects relevant to the course I want to do... I've been predicted 6-7s in all six of my subjects so far, so fingers crossed, eh? It also says I would get AP - what the hell does that mean? I'm so confuzzled...

Also just checked out Berkeley - it has no minimum requirements, but if I get 30pts, it says I would be awarded '30 quarter units' - what does that mean?

I'm sorry, I know thats a lot of Qs, but I really don't know anything about the american system - anyone got any recommendations? (BTW, I'm predicted 40 out of 45 points, but by the looks of it everything other than my specific subject scores wouldn't count - is that right?) 

I don't know what I want to be, though. Not a clue. 

I'm going into Physical Therapy in the future. Right now I'm volunteering for a physical therapist at a local hospital, just to get a view of hospital therapy work.

 I'm good with my hands. Very good with my hands. (Oh, how modest I am!)

Message therapy also intrigues me, but I'm more focused on rehab than spa work. If I ever get the opportunity to learn Message therapy, I'll bite at the offer. But, it's just one of those things I want to do one o' these days.

Yay for you, Soccerislove! I'm not the only girl my age that loves foreign countries. Mandarin Chinese is going to be my third language (English, Spanish (Just due to the increasing hispanic influence on American culture), and then Mandarin (Probably followed by Cantonese).)

When I'm older, and am not busy with schooling, I hope to write science fiction novels. I'd write them now, but I need to get more versed in humanity before I can write about it. I'm still a teenager, and my world view is rather narrow.

I'm also shooting high. I want to get into the Lei Thai ring by age eighteen, and plan to take home the USKSF championship trophy before twenty-one. I also want to be in the top three of my division this year in forms competition. Pssh, forget "Want". I will.

I also, in the future, want to spend at least two years in China, and half that in Taiwan.

...Marriage. That's the only thing I haven't thought of. I'll make room for that....maybe

i went to college for business/management because i've always wanted to open my own business =) sounds crazy, but thinking a mini golf course.. actually quite profitable :-P and that way i wont be a slave to the office anymore!

I am graduating college in May. I would like to find a job working in music. My dream job is to be a music supervisor for film, tv, or advertising. I am trying to avoid working in a cubicle for as long as possible and also open up my own business in the future. Right now I'm just trying to figure out if I should get my masters.   Suggestions?

Im in my final year of highschool now (yikes!) and I have so many different things I want to do! Id love to be a vet, but I dont have the math skills, so a vet nurse would be great. Id also love to get into dietition/sports medicine. Another option would be child care / primary school teaching. But the one thing Ive always wanted to do, no matter what, is write. Im 17 and have already written 3 novels, so Id love to get them published and work as a full time writer!

I've applied to several places, and I want to major in Classics with a minor (or possibly a double major if I can handle it) in philosophy. Grad school after that, then law school. Who knows, I'll probably either be a lawyer or a teacher/professor.

i want to do theatre but it's a hard business and i'm constantly afraid of letting my parents down and become a failure. it's so easy to fail in life. like i should be focusing on my career now but i'm worrying about my weight

Go to Clemson University and own my own pet daycare. I'm only 13 and already have to think about scholarships.  "sigh"
