Weight Loss
Moderators: duke3522, devilish_patsy, topanga1485, nycgirl, spoiled_candy, cmillington, coach_k If you want to look like a celebrity you have to eat like one! Here is how many cals the celebs eat--shocking!
Many have asked how many calories do the actresses and models eat and I came across this site. I'm really SHOCKED really really shocked at the low levels of calories they eat!! Some of them like Liz Hurley eat 449 cals a day and she does pilates to burn off 300 cals!? So isn't that anorexia?
Needless to say I will not be following the celeb "diet" any time soon...
Sorry but I'm making an EDIT to my post here to remove the link to the website...I'm not familiar with that site but apparently (a good mod mentioned) there are parts of it that link to "diets".

I don't mean to be rude, but I'm not convinced of the veracity of these numbers. I would take the information with a grain, or perhaps a boulder, of salt (and not be encouraged to restrict calories unhealthily by the examples that may or may not be set by celebrities).
EDIT: This article's source is the U.K.'s Daily Mail, which is not exactly known for truth in reporting. It's a tabloid. Don't believe everything you read...

no offense, but this seems like a thinly veiled attempt to promote severe calorie restriction.

Yeah... that's sorta what I was getting at.
I have nothing else to say but that is horrible. I can say this from experience that I used to do it. I used to eat only fruits as a snack and a sandwich (tuna or ham) for lunch and then the opposite sandwich for dinner. No other snacks. It is a horrible way to live and I realize it is not worth the headache. And I mean headache literally. I used to get very bad headaches. Oh, and I used to exercise (cardio 1 hour a day). So, I realize I consumed maybe 700 calories a day and burned about 2,100! That is absolutely horrible! I am so glad I am older and wiser now =) And less hungry to boot.
purespark---so you're saying you don't believe it? But I think it's fact!
Kathygator--no not at all! I think it's important to put it out there that what the celebs do isn't healthy. I don't think it's realistic for some people to think they will ever be as skinny as a model etc eating like a normal healthy person, because the celebs obviously do things that are not natural to get an abnormally skinny body.
Demila--an hour of cardio does not burn 2100 cals a day!! That's funny!

No, I don't believe it. Read the source article, which is linked at the bottom of the "snarky gossip" site. Actually, just note that the article is on a site called "snarky gossip." That's discrediting enough.
purespark you don't have to believe it ...I suppose it makes much more sense to think that people with a BMI of 18 or less are simply "working out a lot and eating healthy"...whatever! I don't really care if it's a gossip mag, people who are underweight are most likely doing something to support a low body weight and I'll bet you money it isn't eating 1200-1500 cals a day.
Regardless, posting it here, on this site, helps no one...certainly not people trying to recover from EDs...
Actually, I agree, in theory, with Workoutaddict.
Certainly I think you'll see in the model and supermodel community, they put their body through hell to "be beautiful".
Its from the daily mail? Say no more...
I suspect that there may be some truth in the article, as in a lot of celebrities do eat way too little calories, but I think this is greatly exagerated. For example, Kate Winslet is known for eating relatively normally, and even victoria beckham eats more than 600 calories a day, as the diet she often is seen following and has quoted from involves strawberries with yogurt for breakfast, edamae (sp?) beans as a snack, tons of miso soup for lunch, goji berries for another snack, and fish with rice and a ton of vegetables for dinner. Still not much, but more than 600 cals worth...

And if they really DO eat so little, that's why they mostly look so SICKLY and skeletal. Anorexia is rampant in the entertainment industry - but that doesn't make it healthy! I really wish somebody would shake some sense into whoever it was who decided that models and actresses need to be walking sticks. They should be encouraging young women to be HEALTHY, not over-thin.
Some of them are making attempts to do that.. I remember hearing that Fergie and a couple of others, for example, were.
yeah that's exactly what I'm saying hkellick! Thanks for picking up on that! I think it's really misinformed, especially for the young girls on here, to think for a minute that setting goals to be "super skinny" will happen if they "eat healthy." I just think it that healthy and skinny are two very different things...I don't even think the female body is meant to be very skinny by nature...these celebs are doing things to themselves that prove right there that there is no such thing as "naturally skinny with a BMI of 18 or less" WHATEVER!! If you are a female over the age of 16 there is no way you are "naturally" below a BMI of 18.
Anyways we all want to be healthy and obviously that means choosing to eat healthy and not starving to be some abnormal size and then claiming it's just natural.
Also, when we see celebreties, usually it's in picture form, and we all
know that those pictures are photoshopped to death. Really.
So combined with this "news" from the daily globe, or whatever rag is
sourced with this info, we know that celebrity photos are HUGELY
distorted, we can assume that no celebrity looks anything like what
they appear to look like.
How can K Alley consume 28,000 cals a day... is it possible for a woman to eat that much!!!!
1. It is possible to be as slim and fit as some celebs on 1200 to 1500 calories a day and normal excercise.
2. There are people who are genetically thin, have low BMIs, but eat more than 1500 calories a day.
Of these 2 facts I am certain.

Actually Jesse that is so true. I met Kim Bassinger (sp?) during the filming of Lesser Child. It was being filmed right behind my building when we lived in Toronto. Anyways I was shocked to see that in real life what stood before me was a rather ponchy middle aged regular momish looking woman with very brittle strawberry blonde hair.--she looks quite different on film and the million dollar pale blonde extensions coupled with good camera angles and undergarments give her a totally different effect. She is still very pretty regardless, but the point is she looked very natural and Also met Christine Applegate (I think that's her name) now she is actually VERY thin in real life (kind of short too) yet she doesn't even look THAT skinny on film...she is also very very freckled but you can't tell on film or in her pictures.
I don't see what's wrong with freckles or why they airbrush them out ...I have them and I like them!
Tommyantwingy ..lol do you have any clue how many private messages I got from people on here telling me they agreed with me? Then the stupid thread was locked and well you know the rest...I'm not the one who is on any stump my dear and I don't care what you or anyone else thinks about how weight is lost ..do whatever works for you okie...seems to me you want to carry on with a topic that was closed weeks ago and you best do that without me.

Absolutely true. I lost 20-30lbs on 1500 calories a day and am now what many would consider slim. My diet is extremely nutritious and healthy and I am in the best shape of my adult life and probably as thin as many celebrities, some of whom are listed in that website.
