200+ and want to lose with me?

Quote  |  Reply

Hi, I'm new to all this and would like to find people in a similiar situation to track our success together. I'm 5'7" and at 239 now, started at 251. My goal is 140-145. My exercising constists of mostly walking for now, until I lose a bit more. I work full-time and rarely feel like cooking elaborate healthy dinners, so I mostly try to find something easy that's not fast-food. I would like to hear from others about your exercise routines, meal plans, and goals. Please include your weight, height, and goal when you reply.  Maybe we can start having group weigh-ins starting this coming up Monday (9/22) and go from there! I'm looking forward to finding some buddies!

Hi... I am in a similar situation.  I am currently 245lbs 5'3; 23 years old living in Minnesota.  I have a goal weight of 120-130.  I really need some motivation and I think that weigh ins would be great for that! I am a full-time student, and have a 2 year old daughter.  Let me know what you think.  Have a goodnight!

Hi. My name is Jackie and I am currently trying to lose 45 plus pounds. I am 5'6 and weigh 213 (goal 165). I am only 29 years old and have two beautiful girls ages 3 and 1. I started my calorie counting and exercise on Sept 18th and have almost completed a whole week. I have tried numerous diets and have failed, the most frustrating part about all of it is that I did not gain weight in pregnancy but I sure put the pounds on after I delivered.  My most recent weight lose program was the south beach diet, I did very well but then reached a plateau and got very frustrated and gave up which caused my weight, plus a few pounds to come back.  I then tried it one more time for two weeks and lost nothing....very frustrating. So I believe this program, by counting calories, is going to work very well. I got on the scale this morning and I have already dropped 5pounds!!! This week I started to exercise for 15 minutes a day on the elliptical trainer during my lunch break.  I am eating a cup of special k for breakfast and it is holding me over until lunch. For lunch I have been having a sandwich with 100%whole wheat bread, meat, lettuce, tomato and dijon mustard....not bad at all!  For dinner I have a small portion of meat, baked potato and some form of veggies. The hardest part about that is trying to get my family to eat the same things.  I believe weighing in every week would be a great motivation technique and help us all stay on the same track. Giving advise about foods, exercise or just motivation would be a great plus!

Hi Sammiejane.  It is definitely a challenge trying to eat healthy when your kids don't want to to eat the same thing.  I have a two year old daughter who is the same way.  I have also been on many diets, i was on LA weight loss for a while and lost 40 pounds, but ended up moving away from the clinic, and gaining 70...gosh that's disgusting...to admit. I gained a ton of weight during my pregnancy I was 140 when i got pregnant and was 198 a couple days after i gave birth, I eventually got all the way up to 260.  It seems like with a kid around i just eat whatever and whenever they eat (but alot more than them of course), it's terrible. I think weekly weigh ins will be great, i hope that we all can help each other stay on track and give support when needed.

Hi girls!

Great start for all of you.  I know that first week, I forced myself to stay in my new calorie range and I was SO hungry!  But, there's a group of us girls in our 20's looking to gain 100 or more pounds, just go here.  It's been a great help to me knowing that I'm not alone and face some of the same issues they do.  The support is great.  And if it's not what you're looking for, best of luck on the start of your new lifestyle!

hi, I'm tasha... 26  287.. my highest weight was 315, when i gave birth to my daughter Surprised... i started cc on 8/10 at 295.5 now im down to 287 (actually 284 as of yesterday but my weigh in's are Mondays so didnt count!)  umm what else... My goal weight is 180-170 (maybe 165)... we'll see if i want to get lower once i reach there.. I know its very unrealistic to say that i will get down to 140... that seems to small for my body frame...... u made a good decision to join cc.. i love it and all the people here..  I find motiovation/wisdom in reading the posts from other people.. Anyways.. my story of weight lost is lonnnnggg so i wont go into it.. that was my past and this is my new beginning.. Good luck on your journey!!!! I know we all will reach our goal

Hey girls, happy to meet yall! So here's my story: I've been struggling with my weight since I was about 12. My highest weight was 260 and that was January '05 and I've gone back and forth. Without realizing it I got down to about 230 in Sept. '05 and then started on phentermine (generic for Adipex) and by January '06 I was at 215. Then I met my now ex-fiance and ended up being at 240 when he cheated in April '07. I was so depressed I didn't eat more than maybe a banana or yogurt cup every couple of days and this went on for a month. To keep my mind off of him, I'd just walk around our local track. In just one month I lost 35 pounds unintentionally. I got on an anti-depressant and phentermine again and after another 5 or 6 weeks I was at 195. I had not been below 200 since high school. I started dating again, got off phentermine and completely let myself go and a month ago I weighed in at 251 at my doctor's office. So that just proved to me that starving myself and diet pills is NOT a permanent solution, that I have to make a life change and re-learn how to eat and be active. I have the full support of my now wonderful boyfriend (who is a black belt in taekwondo, very fit and weighs 100 lbs less than I) but he doesn't fully understand what we are going through. I can't weight to hear more from yall!

Hi darlin, My story is pretty similar to yours, but mine started in highschool.  I dated a guy all throughout highschool, and we ended up breaking up my senior year...being totally depressed i just stopped eating i went from 175 to 110(2003).  I ended up going to college and gaining it all back which brought me up to 180.  I stopped eating again once i was fed up with my weight and eventually got down to 140(2005)...eventually i got pregnant, my then boyfriend left me when he found out, which resulted in a very deep depression, i ended up gaining 65 pounds during my pregnancy.  that same boyfriend and I ended up getting married after much pressure from our parents.  He has been unfaithful our entire marriage.  I have gained an additional 40 some odd pounds since resulting in my high of 260.  I still struggle with bouts of not eating, and sometimes purging, but i am really trying hard to stop that and become healthy.  My weight has yo-yoed my entire life, and i really want to be able to sustain a lower weight without drastic measures.

I am so glad to hear that you have found a great guy who supports you every step of the way!

Gosh, I hate that you've been going through all that with your husband! Are you still together? I know this is off-subject but you really deserve better, and trust me, there are plenty of good guys out there who will take you for who you are,  child and all. Anyway, I've noticed that depression has caused the yo-yo effect, so what I try to focus on is only when I feel good about what I've done. Before, if I gave in and had fast food for lunch, then I would just say to myself "forget it" and binge at dinner too and then I'd get off track. Now if it happens then I just take an extra 15 minute walk and drink lots of water and try not to dwell on it. I love being able to tell someone that I woke up early before work and took a mile and a half walk. I focus on how good it feels knowing that I'm trying to be more active, not on how I cheated yesterday by eating a couple of little debbie honeybuns (I dreamed about them and had to have it). I also had a cheeseburger and fries Thursday night because my mother brought it home for dinner and I didn't feel like cooking. At first I was feeling really bad about that, until I weighed this morning (I couldn't resist) and I'm down to 235. So from now on, if I cheat I'm not going to beat myself about it, because that will just get me down and the bad pattern will continue.

So here's a question for yall: What makes you feel the good about yourself, and keep going, even if you cheated? I'd love to hear some new ideas!

Hi Ladies,

I'm friends with Tasha and follow her around the site because we're generally in the same place...

I'm Dawn, 24 years YOUNG and I started CC 8/11 weighing in at 275. I am currently down to 257 (up 2lbs from Monday) and am dedicated to this plan.

From another post:

1. History with weight loss: I’ve always been a big girl. I had no problem being “bigger” than everyone else because I was also taller than everyone as well. I first decided to lose weight about 3-4 years ago when I was 20. I weighed in at 260lbs and was  5’11.75 I’d been this size/height pretty much since the 8th grade so I was very comfortable with who I was. In fact (shamefully) I remember being a size 18 in the 6th grade so I guess puberty “thinned me out” So 3-4 years ago I decided to lose weight, I watched what I ate, supplemented meals with Slim Fast and hit the gym. I lost about 40lbs in a few months and maintained that for about 6 months. My downfall was 1. drinking – I’d just turned 21 and it was “cool” to go to happy hour and order nachos grandes every single day. The second thing that really really did me in was my father was diagnosed with cancer in Dec 2005 and passed away in May 2006. I remember deliberately eating and eating until I was literally sick. So over the last 2 years I’ve put back on the 40 I lost AND an additional 20. It took me 2 years to decide I wanted the weight off and about 4 months to do something about it.

So now two years later I'm back and I'm READY! I allow myself 1500 cals a day and I do 60min of cardio 5-6 times a week. I also lift every other day.

This week went pretty smoothly, counting calories is a lot easier than any other diet I have ever tried! You don't feel so restricted on what you can or cannot eat, I know I can continue this program without any problem.  Keep it up girls!!!!

Hi everyone!!! I've been a member for over a year now, so I'm not really new, but i haven't logged on in a while, i could have been at my goal weight by now Cry but I've been very lazy and haven't been doing anything to aid me to lose weight but now i know i have to get on the ball, my vacation is coming up after February and my boyfriend and i want to go somewhere tropical like Hawaii or Bahamas, so i need to start now so i can have that bikini bodyCool or close to it.

well i am 24 years old, 5'4 and my current weight is 211. my highest weight was 252.2 in '07 and my lowest was 200 and that was sometime last December. my goal is to be between 160-165 by February. im going to  start counting my calories and working out on october 1st (more info in my profile)

i hope i can gain some friends on this site who will help keep me motivated and ill do the same Laughing

Hello All!

Like fasionista, I've been a member for a while, but wasn't keeping up. I too could have made my original goal by now!

I'm 24, 5'4", starting weight on Sept. 21 was 196.2 (I peaked around 200, and knew I needed to do something). I dropped and then gained again (bad weekend involving pasta...), so I'm unfortunately up at 196.7 right now. Oh well, all I can do is try again.

My goal is to reach 150, and at that point I will reevaluate and decide if I want to go farther (probably not). I'm pretty inactive, office job, read a lot, so I try to keep under 1500 calories, and I've started to bellydance and take my dog for walks.
