5'5 want to lose 30ish lbs...
Since last summer i've gained 20lbs from stress (emotional eating) etc. and i am getting back into this whole counting calories routine again. looking for some buddies/support and maybe we can post our weekly progress that will totally help my accountabilty!!
im 23 5'5 and currently 166lbs :( looking to be between 125-130
i use to be really slim in highschool so i know i can achieve it.
I'm 5'5". I'll be more than glad to support. And don't worry about your now weight, just keep eating healthy and you'll get down to your goal weight! =)
How many calories do you plan on eating a day?
yeah it doesnt bother me too much. i dont look hideous or anything lol.
it depends on how active i am- if im super sendentary about 1250 and based on my activities/exercise anywhere from 1400-1600.
today i did a lot of walking at work and my intake for the day was a little low(1222) but i ate a lot of protein today(81g) so i feel sooo full and im sure through out the week it will all plan out!
Cool. That sounds like an appropriate amount.
Just make sure your getting your recommended amount from each food group. It helps balance out your diet.
Right now I'm eating 1500 calories a day, losing, so maybe since your walking and active 1222 is too low.
What kind of foods do you eat?

I dont know why am so excited to join you guys but I guess I have never really been part of a group before. Always reading but never participating.
I am 5"3ish 164 and 22yrs old.
I also want to get down to 140 by Christmas(My Birthday!!!!) and down 10more by February
So I am ready to roll....
I exercises everyday about 45 minutes. I alternate between Taebo Cardio and jogging+jump rope with leg exercises everyday for toning and abs exercises as well. So like one hour max.
The burn meter says I burn 2280 on my moderate activity level so I aim for 1280 cals a day. I dont feel restricted at all. I started on aug 24th and have been loosing a steady 2lbs a week.
I am totally cool with weekly check ins. Would that be at the end or at the beginning of the week?
well yesterday my meals were
breakfast: coffee and a banana
Snack: yogurt and melon, tea
Lunch: chicken, pasta salad with olive oil raw tomatoes, peppers, and onions
Snack: apple, and a few pita chips with hummus
Dinner: steak, salad, and broccoli
Snack: 1 cup milk and a carnation breakfast
it ended up being 1222 with like a 700 calories burn but i was so full- so i didnt force anything down a day or 2 like that wont do any harm.
i usually try to get a few fruits in, veggies, dairy, and various forms of protein whether its from meat, veggie burgers, tofu etc. i try to balance things out.
prynzcessd: i guess maybe every saturday/sunday- whatever works for you!
thats a good excersise regimen. but i dont know how you manage to eat that little if youre active!! id pass out lol. i only eat that if im sitting around the house all day doing nothing lol.

Your only suppose to have a 500 calorie deficit. If you burned 700, you needed atleast 400. That's too little and your going to end up slowing your metabolism.
On the plus, those foods seem great! The only thing I don't do is the steak, but thats me. You need enough carbs too, whole grains aren't bad at all.
i know i love quinoa!! i do get adequate grains and fiber and all that jazz - it would be bad if i did it on the regular , every once in a while its not bad at all. i asked my doctor this morning when i had my physical and she said it wasnt a problem- you shouldnt force it if you arent hungry and its not like i make a habit of it just one of those full days
when i was dancing i had a deficit of 1500 cals on most days-granted i ate prob. about a billion calories though lol. but i was super in shape. i think i might join an aerobics class its such a good form of excersise tones everything
Hi all! I'm 24 years old, 5'4" and weigh roughly 140. This is the most I've ever weighed though (not that it's alot), but I just don't feel healthy at this weight. I'm completely new to all this and really never even truly dieted before so I would love to join in and help each other stay accountable! I'd love to get back down to 120-125 by the end of the year. I do pilates on a machine at my house a few times a week and think I'm about to join a gym to get in the cardio. I've done some research on how many calories a day I need to consume to get down to that weight in the next few months, but have gotten very varied answers (anywhere from 984 to 1300 calories/day). Anyone have any idea what the REAL number should be??
Oh, and I'm all for a weekly weigh in. Any day is okay by me.

anything below 1200 is too low- even 1300 if youre being super active. id keep them lower if you dont do anything all day and add few depending upon your your level of activity. how many cals are you eating currently?
Well, I'd never really counted until just recently. But now I'd say I'm averaging about 1500 calories a day (since I've been keeping track and trying to cut down on the bad stuff!). Before then though, I'd imagine it was much higher. I'd been active all growing up and never had to think about my weight or what I ate. Now that I'm in the "real world", however, my activity level has dropped significantly and I generally find myself making eating choices based on convenience rather than nutrition. I am working on this though....

you and me both this is prob. the largest ive really been in my life. i used to be pretty slender esp. when i danced. now ill be happy with even a loss of a lb a week. 1500's not bad if youre not being to active its prob. ok to cut down 100-200 cals. but dont do 984 lol way too low. sure youll lose weight but it will mess up what you have going and prob. spur a binge which is totally counter productive
Ha, I used to dance too. When I was doing that I never even had a thought about food or weight. Oh how things have changed! ;)
I think I'm going to try to stay around the 1200-1300 range now until I can get myself in the gym. I've just never dieted before so I wonder, by cutting down to this level, how long it will take to start seeing some noticeable results. I'd really love to lose 20lbs by the end of the year. Unrealistic??
Lesliea: Very realistic. We have about 14 weeks or so left in the year. So about 1.4 pound a week should get you there no problem. Which happens to be 1% of your current weight, which is the exact recommendation for long term weight loss.
I guess we have a forum full of dancers. I danced all throughout middle and high school. Was like in five different teams and always on the go. (Those were some really good times
). What type of dancing did you guys do?
eating 1200-1300 the weight will come off at a decent rate- i cant tell you for sure b/c it differs from person to person... i know!!! i never thought about anything either!! never even crossed my mind.
i did a little jazz, ballet/pointe
so as of this morning i am down 1lb

Well great job so far! 1 Lb is awesome. I need to lose about 7 more, and its soo hard. It's like if I can't lose anymore. Anyways, I eat the same things everyday. But I like my diet. I eat oatmeal, organic yogurts, organic cereals, chicken meatballs, chicken breast or salmon, I use olive oil, I used to eat brown rice or whole wheat pasta. I also eat lots of eggs, wheat crackers (high in fiber), sauteed veggies (prefer. brocolli, tomato, onions, green peppers, squash, carrots, cauliflower, spinach). Fruits --> bananas, blueberries, apples, strawberries. Soy milk. Soy nut butter. Olive oil (xtra virgin). If you don't like soy, you can drink almond, 1%. I don't eat nuts (allergic). I use some organic tomato sauces. I think it's Bertolli (not sure :/). And Kashi has some good bars, and heatlhy healthy cereals. So thats what I eatt...lol

I would say I eat about the same things as re-newed
Mornigs: two eggs and a piece of whole grain toast or one egg a piece of toast and low fat yoghurt(59cals for 150grams)
Snack: carrots, more yoghurt, apples, banana, pear, high fiber crackers, nuts sometimes, cucumber
Lunch/dinner: potatoes, brown rice, spaghetti, boiled veggies: broccoli, spinach(13 cals per 100 gram), peas, green beans, cabbage(very low cal), red beens, tuna, chicken, lean ground beef(like once a week), tomato......
Lunch and dinner is usually between 250-300cals max
