Weight Loss
Moderators: duke3522, devilish_patsy, topanga1485, nycgirl, spoiled_candy, cmillington, coach_k I want to lose 20 lbs. But I already do not look like I weigh 145. Does that mean I will look sick If I do lose 20.
I am 24 years old, 5'4" and have two children. I currently weigh 145 and REALLY want to weigh 125. (I guess it is a mental thing) Although I weigh 145 I wear a size 6 jeans comfortably. I really do not think that I have that much muscle although I do use weights along with cardio when I go to the gym. I really just want to look and feel like I'm only 24 and not a "old worn out mom!". I try to eat right and still don't budge the scales! Any pointers?

If you are a size 6 I think you must look really good! You have had two children and need to give yourself a break. You probably do have a good amount of muscle. It doesn't matter what the scale says as long as you look good! Thats what I am trying to focus on right now. I am gaining muscle using weights but the scale hasn't moved much but my body fat percentage is going down.
Size 6 is a great, healthy size. Stay healthy and try not to focus on the scale. Focus on the things that really matter in life, like your children. Be healthy still but its not about what you weigh.

Thank-you. HAHAHA Sometimes I wonder if my head is playing tricks on me..."is it really a comfortable six? or am I just telling myself that.... Are you SURE that you don't look huge in those pants...cause the scales say you are "slightly overweight". HAHAHA it is a never ending cycle huh!
I don't think you'll look sick if you lose 20lbs. I'm 5'3" , 140lbs and I'm also a size 6 right now. I just joined the site and my goal is to lose 20-25lbs. I have one lo (9mths) and I think it's time to get somewhere close to my pp weight. To be honest a lot of ppl said that I looked too skinny at 113 so maybe 120 might be just right for me.
I think if you lose around 15lbs you'll still look great....not too skinny. Good luck to us both! ![]()
Hey perfectlittlefam,
I think it's bad to get fixated on any one number. Sure, get yourself to a healthy BMI (you may already be very close, I am not sure, I am 5'6" and I know my BMI hits a healthy range around 150lbs) and eat right and exercise, but if you are already a size 6 (again, a number thing, but it does give a good idea of your basic physical size) then why worry about a pesky number on the scale?
I am, as I said, 5'6", and currently about 168. I started at about 225. I have NEVER "looked as much as I weigh". People constantly ask me if I am "done" losing, and always think I weigh a lot less than I actually do. For me, personally, I want to get to 150 or so to hit that healthy BMI. However, I know that my BMI could STAY in a healthy range if I was as low at 126! But, ME, personally at 126? I think I'd look WAY too thin. At 168, I am wearing size 9/10s for the most part. If I were 148, I'd probably be a 6 or an 8 myself. 126 is too small for ME, though someone else my height could look terrific. Every individual body is different.
Personally, I think you can just "know" when you're at a healthy weight. I want to lose a bit more because, while my arms and legs are toned and fit, my tummy and my back are still a bit flabby. Whatever number my scale says when that belly fat is gone, is when I will stop.
Good luck to you!
