Why do you Want to be Skinny?

Quote  |  Reply

there are people on this site who want to be thin or super skinny even when they're already in shape or "normal" in the teen community.

why?

can you feel excess fat in unwanted places?

would you feel more attractive/confidant if you were thinner?  if so, then you're just losing fat to be more appealing to others?

At the end of the day be who you want to be and look how you want to look! If you think being super skinny is pretty by all means your entitled to think that but you have no right to turn around to a fuller figured girl or boy and look at them in disgust or think theyre ugly or fat because they dont look as skinny as you are or want to be. That is the problem with the world today and that is why teenagers and kids are so rude and horrible. The kids hanging out on the streets today thinking theyre really cool, you can watch them and you can see a larger girl walk past and watch how much hassle she will get even if the people giving it to her are the same size! its madness! and the sadder thing is the people that usually give the abuse like that alot of the time end up sad and lonely stuck up little cows with a stick so far up their backside no man will want them, either that or you'l end up with kids at 16.

Accept people for who they are not what you think they should be. If you think that someone is unattractive because she is larger, then you don't deserve to have an opinion because that is biast. I don't find really unnautrally skinny girls as attractive as a natural person but it doesn't mean i think they are ugly and i would never say anything like that. Kids need to watch what they say and grow up a bit.

i want to be skinny because ALL my friends are.. even though they do seem to eat quite a lot! :( grr im jealous...
also the way i hear girls here talk about other girls that are slightly chubby is just nasty, and i dont want to be thought of like that :(

I think I ought to go visit the nightclubs elsewhere! Roadtrip this summer, perhaps? Wink

If this country ever gets a Summer this year then sure, why the hell not... Tongue out

it's something i can control. i could get "super" skinny if i wanted to, and i do want to, but i'm trying to maintain for my parents' sake (i don't want them freaking out when they can see my ribs through my shirts). i'm actually one of those girls who think the model runways super skinny look is beautiful, BUT i also think that women who are full figured and actually have curves are GORGEOUS. but when i weighed a bit more than i currently do, i just didn't think curves looked good on me, but they can look amazing on others.
(ex. whitney from antm, she is GORGEOUS and her curves rock).

lol goth =/= scene.

i'm talking about "scene" girls. the stick-thin ones are gorgeous, imo.

anyway, for me, losing weight DID change who i was. i knew it would make me happier and more confident, and it did. it wasn't a "trap" at all. i even grew confident enough to assert myself in school and i have straight As because of it. i used to just not care and got Cs all the time.

You are so right! Whitney is soo beautiful. I wish I looked as good and was as confident as her!

I want to lose my tummy :(

i'm 110. i recently gained 5 lbs from bad eating habits and i want to go back to my normal size, 100-105 lbs!! i guess the reason why i want to be skinny is because i want to fit into all my clothes again!

I think alot of people feel more comfortable smaller, and it does boost confidence when you think you look good. People just need to make sure they're not going to the extreme. Idolising anorexia when it's not a fashion it's an illness.

yes, i would feel more confident and attractive if i was thinner. saying that confidence related to "appealing to others" is untrue. everyone thinks i'm fine the way i am- its something I want to do for myself.

i feel exactly the same way. Its just a big confidence booster. I dont want to be super skinny or skinny its more of on the "slim" side of normal.

i just want to feel better about myself

i agree!! i put on a mid length skirt and tight strap top this morning to go to work, while i was driving i cud feel the top gettin rele tight round my stomach from where my stupid stomach sits even tho its not rele very big still big enough to cut into my seat belt on days like this!! I would feel a lot better about myself if i didnt have to worry what clothes showed what bumps on me. Dressing would be so simple!

Self image and athletics. Of course, I want to look better and get toned for the summer. Plus I would really like a change and I think that losing weight is a great, healthy change. As for sports, I want to get stronger, and most of all, faster and more agile. Losing weight is therefore a large portion of my fitness program.

Plus I really love the compliments on my progress =)

Ooh, good thread :D

I like the idea of a skinny me. The only reasons are:

  •  (ha oooo bullet points!) I want to wear lo-rise jeans without my tummy poking over the top to say hello to passers by - I'm sure that's illegal :(
  • I want to get baggy clothes that look BAGGY and not FRUMPY. I want my clothes to hang off me nicely in other words.
  • I want to be healthy. I haven't let myself get this fat EVER before and I want to nip it in the bud before I become too fat to care about my image.
  • I want to get rid of my fat chin. It isn't nice.

So mainly to wear fashions and to get healthy.

bump.

DM84-

you are basically attacking people on here and for those that DO have an eating disorder whether it be anorexia, bulimia or EDNOS, you really need to lay off because challenging you is only going to hurt more. so can it.

I don't want to be skinny... I just want to be thinner.

And, after being overweight my entire life, I think that's reasonable.
