I have begun my mission to lose my weight... I NEED TO LOSE MORE THAN 100 IBS... I am motivated because I have lost 15 ibs but you know how it starts slowing down and that is when cravings kick in. I need that support from anyoneone thas has done it or still doing it so we are able to help eachother in completing or maintaining our goals... So let me know who needs suppport and who wants to give support I am here to stay.. I HOPE THIS TIME I WILL MAKE THIS THE LAST TIME GETTING ON THIS TRAIL WITHOUT TRYING TO FIND A SHORTCUT OR STOP FOR SOME FATTY FAST FOOD.

I haven't lost 100lbs but I did lose over 50lbs a few years ago and am, so far, keeping it off.

I wanted to give you my best tip which is to enjoy yourself.   Every choice you make in order to lose weight... make sure it makes you happy.  It's so much easier to keep going if you're looking forward to it rather than dreading it.   PLUS... when you get to your target weight your old habits will seem just a distant and slightly unpleasant memory.

So if you decide to eat particular foods.... do so because you genuinely like them not because you think you ought to.  Keep your menu interesting and flavoursome.  (Boring, tasteless, repetitive food is your biggest enemy.)  If you particularly enjoy a food that's not-so-healthy, find a way to have just a little from time to time.... that way nothing is off limits and you don't feel deprived.   When incoporating more exercise into your life... find activities that you like doing rather than seeing exercise purely as a means to an end or a punishment.   If your healthy calorie-aware lifestyle also happens to be putting a smile on your face then you'll find that  cravings aren't an issue and when the scale numbers aren't dropping so rapidly you're not so worried.

So that's my tip... every morning when you consider the day ahead ask yourself 'am I still enjoying this?'... and if the answer comes back 'no' then change things around until the answer is 'yes'.

Good luck

I'll join you.  I've been on this journey for a while now. I had lost about 40 lbs and slowly gained about 20 back on. Then around Christmas last year I decided that things needed to change for good.  I started logging again and got back to exercising.  I've been losing slowly and am almost back to my low.

I agree with gi-jane the thing that has kept me going is that I'm doing things I enjoy.  I still eat all the same foods just not as much of them and now there are more vegetables included. When I exercise it's because I want to not necessarily because I have to.  I do things that I enjoy - taking walks, using the exercise bike while watching tv, working in the garden.

I've added you as a friend. Feel free to contact me anytime. I try to get on several times a day and will respond as soon as possible.

I am in the same boat.  I've already lost 15, but I have more than 100 to go.  We can do it!

I dont have 100 lbs to go... but im not far from it! (80-90 to reach my goal of 160ish). I dont have a scale right now (my bf threw it out accidently), and im going to go live at my parents non-internet accessable house while we save to put a down on buying a house (2 months or so). So i have some hard times comming! lol But i will be doing 80% of the cooking (im a healthy cook, just lazy) and leaving some items out of my shopping trip so i have to walk the mile to the grocery store (i dont drive... long story lol). I will be logging in at the library (hopefully weekly) and i will be buying a scale within the month (tho i prefer to use my clothes as a better judge of weight loss).

gi-jane, I just love you! You're usually so right on, and this time is no different, you hit the nail on the head!

So the weekend is comming up. How does everyone plan to get thru it? We are going camping at a wonderful natural hotspring (ill post pics when we get back!) and while dinner will be steaks and fire roasted corn and there will be a bit of extra drinking, breakfast will be yogurt and fruit (as well as snacks), and lunch will be sandwiches on whole grain breads (no mayo) (and it is only about a day of camping early afternoon to late morning).  And LOTS of water. This hotspring is in the California desert and its closing in on 100 degrees already! Fortunatly there are palms shading the water (93 degree water!) So i dont have to worry about the heat too much.

We have exactly 14 days til i move up to my parents house, so i have been busy packing and trying to empty the freezer (and pantry a bit too), so havnt been eating the healthiest, but im trying to keep the amounts i eat smaller and i do still eat if im really hungry (yay for my precut veggies!) Right now i dont care if i lose weight, i just dont want to gain!after im at my parents house and im not trying to get rid of this surplus food i will re-focus on healthier eating. (lol i didnt plan on moving when i bought the extra corned beefs last month, or the pork shoulder i bought for pulled pork before that... kinda got deciding to buy a house as a surprise!)

So how is everyone else?

I'm looking forward to the weekend.  We're taking the kids to play miniature golf tomorrow afternoon. The local high school girls' golf team is having a cookout, golf tournament & day of miniature golf as a fundraiser.  The weather is supposed to be nice so I'm hoping to be able to get out and do some gardening & yard work as well before the rain heads back in on Sunday/Monday.  So should be able to get some activity in. Now all I have to do is manage to control the portions and not snack all day.

Lily

Thanks Lily, looks like fun. I love the weekly check ins with the gentle challenges, it really helps keep me motivated and gives nice week by week feed back that i really am losing it a pound at a time. Supper helpful!

ielhady, i'm adding you as a friend as well. i find the journals really helpful here. keeps me motivated, focused, and i've found it really helps me see how far i've come, that i do keep some of my goals, and those i dont just need a little adjustment. its the community here that keeps me here. i learn all sorts of stuff. its awesome.

i started at 217, i've lost about 25 so far and am looking at ? i dont know how many more. i've set my long term goal at 155, a shorter goal at 180, but bmi says i should be about 135. that seems unreal to me. and as long as i keep off what comes off, im less worried about where i end up then the fact that im actually getting there! for me, its all about sustainability, the way im losing it should be by developing sustainable relationships with myself, my body, food, and movement. i have to live in this body for the rest of my life! so im just looking for a way to do that which feels good and is full of love. its hard, its challenging, but we are each worth our own efforts! definitely!

most of the time my goals are more oriented week by week, either increasing movement, working with my food strategies, or dropping a bit in a certain time frame. its helpful to do this in little steps, at least for me. keeps me interested, motivated, and adaptive to the changes that are happening through my efforts. also helps keep me in balance. balance and sustainability, my essentials.

looking forward to sharing the journey with you!
