I love my Post: Great grains, raisains and dates cereal

I ALWAYS get that

But it has far too many calories

Today I got the Kellogs Sultana Bran Crunch. I havent tried it yet. Has anyone else tried it? Is it good? i was thinking of returning it for my regular Post cereal.

PS: I am not a big fan of Special k.

I eat a bowl of Oatmeal every morning. 8 fl ozs skim milk and 1/2 cup (dry measure) oats. Then I add a small bit of cinnamon and some Splenda or honey. Along with a side of Mandarin Oranges, it's a perfect breakfast!

Kashi has a good line of cereals and Walgreens will run promotions where you can get the price per box down to about $2.50.

A mixture of oatmeal with oat bran cereal and cream of wheat with .5 oz. soy protein powder added, and also raisins or other drioed berries added. Served with 2% milk and someties a dusting of cinnamon or nutmeg. Added protein powder will stop you from feeling hungry soon.

i am addiceted right now to Frutiy Cheerios try it

and it has an A+ rate

I cant believe no one ssaid Quaker Oat Squares!  I love these as a snack!  For breakfast I prefer something lighter like quaker oatmeal w frozen blueberries or Fiber One honey cluster.  I am also a huge fan of go lean crunch!

From other's comments I bought the Kashi Go Lean Crunch and Kashi Cinnamon Harvest.  Both are pretty good!  I had to open the box of Cinnamon Harvest on the way home to try them, and even without milk, they were tasty!  Not bad for only three ingredients.  The Go Lean Crunch was good too (with strawberries on it)- not quite as sweet as what I'm used to, but it actually has more protein than my FiberOne, plus lots of Omega 3's.  I'd recommend either of these as well.  (The only drawback is that since these both use very unrefined ingredients, they don't fortify them with vitamins and minerals like most cereals - so you are missing out on all the added vitamins (and 10% of your daily requirement of calcium) that you get in fortified cereals.  Not a big deal unless you don't have any calories to spare for more milk.)  They do have a few more calories as well, but I was happy to rearrange a few other things in my day to allow for something different.

Peanut Butter Puffins

healthy choices- kashi go lean or quaker weight control oatmeal.

unhealthy- my favorite are all the sugar cereals unfortunately especially cinnamon toast crunch!!!

I mix cereals to lower the calorie count and get the yummies in Post Cranberry Almond Crunch. I usually use Kashi Go Lean to mix in and it lowers the calories per cup by about one-third.

Mhmmmmm Cranberry Almond Crunch.. soo good...higher in calories than I would like but delicious!!! Will have to try this for sure.

Cereal is my absolute favorite food!! I think the lowest cal yummy option is a mixture of Kelloggs Bran Flakes and some puffed wheat!! I usually mix 2 cups bran flakes with one cup of puffed wheat and then about 1 1/2 cups skim milk mixed with about 1 cup water. This is a big bowl of cereal for only about 350 calories and 10 g fibre!! SOOOO GOOODD!! I also mix in puffed wheat with other cereals such as Rice Krispies, Special K, Corn Flakes too, but these really aren't the best as they have no fibre..... sometimes for a treat I mix in about 1/2 cup of something a little higher in cal like Guardian, or Honey Bunches of Oats, but not too often, for these have too much sugar.

I love FiberOne.  Just a word of caution:  some people have a hard time (at least the first few days) digesting all the fiber (i believe it has 13 gm of fiber per 1/2 cup) so you might want to mix it 1:1 with another cereal (i used rice krispies or cheerios).  But it tastes soo good and it's good for you.

I can never find the original plain Fibre One cereal where I live... It is always the honey sweetened one which has so much sugar, and much more calories than the plain. Where do you find yours? I live in BC.

Sara1212, almost all cheerios have an A rating, when I looked at Fruity Cheerios, it was just a plain A.

i like raisin bran, grape nuts, wheat puffs, muslei (mostly in soy yogurt though or it gets too soggy), bare naked granola, kashi honey sunshine or hot oat bran cereal.

hope this helped. :)

I snack on Clifford Crunch (an oatmeal-based, 100 calorie per cup, 5 gram of fiber and 25 carbs with only a couple grams of sugar/sodium, and it's great taste & crunchiness that doesn't require milk to bring out) all day long, with an 1/8 measuring cup that I finger out of.

Banana nut cheerios. Sometimes I add fresh bananas and some chopped walnuts to it. I also like multi-grain cheerios.

Special K blueberry cereal is really good. Also Kashi GoLean Crunch- like everyone else. Uhmmmm! Cheerios are great, so is Clifford Crunch (it's like Lucky Charms without the marshmallows) Hmmmm Peanut butter Puffins, if I think of more I'll edit :)

Hands down, the best cereal I've found is FiberOne Honey Clusters.  It is sweet and delicious - one cup has only 160 calories, 1.5 g fat, but it packs in 13 g of fiber and 5 g protein.

This is my favorite as well, of all the sugary cereals.  My absolute favorite will probably have to be all-bran or trader joe's high fiber cereal.  I think Kashi is a little too sweet, and fiber one original just throws me off with its taste and headache.

The Kashi is a tastey and nutritious cereal, but I find it a bit "windy" (gas producing) possibly because of the fiber.  I tried something called Hi-Lo, and mixed with high protein special-K and some fresh fruit was pretty good, and kept my energy level up unlike many cereals which give me a zip then crash syndrome.  Company is "Nutritious Living", my store recently did not have any of it but they did have a "Dr Sears ZONE" cereal I am trying. Higher in fat than most breakfast cereals, but good fats from nuts and seeds (warning to nut- allergics) and  better protein:carb ratio for those of you looking to limit or balance carbs for whatever reason (I am because of diabetes)

I am going to watch the Kashi labels since Kellogs bought them.  I hope they do not mess with the formula and substitute inexpensive flavor enhancements for profit.

package cereals are handy but they are expensive and usually have some unknown chemistry listed on the ingredients!!  It is good to invest in several whole grains (found in the bins of some stores or you can buy on internet in bulk)

store the grains in airtight bags (label them well w/date) or buy some containers from Smart&Final for storage.

Then get a small slowcooker sometimes comes for free with a large crockpot ($20-30) and the night before mix a couple different whole grains into the small crockpot, add water, maybe chopped date or apple (any fruit practically) and plug it in for fresh whole grain hot cereal in the morning.

this is about the best stuff you can eat, it is protein, fiber, and no added chemicals.  There is hardly any calorie in the fresh whole grain, so you can eat a LOT and have so much energy to start your day.

While this is definately a healthy breakfast suggestion, I must disagree on the idea of it being low calorie. Most whole grains are unfortunately fairly high in calories, like a half cup of oats (dry ms.) has 150 cals. I usually need more than even this to be filling enough, so I would say the health benefits are definatly better, but calories are pretty close to what you will find in a wisely chosen box cereal!! My suggestion for cooked cereal however is to cook it, (I often make oatmeal in the microwave) and then stir in some fat free, sugar free yogurt of any flavour you like!! VERY GOOD!!
