Start NOW, NOT tomorrow. Tomorrow never comes! It's ALWAYS tomorrow. The KEY, I believe, is starting NOW. AND, you have to do it even if you don't want to. You have to PUSH through it. You can do it, that's OBVIOUS -- because you have done it before. Just remember how AWFUL you feel RIGHT NOW, the next time you want to eat a full tub of icecream. Better try to keep that kind of stuff out of the house if you can't maintain proper control. I used to buy peanuts and dole out 1/4 cup servings to myself, but then I started laying on my bed at night with my hand in the can, NO DOUBT, eating waaaay more than 1/4 cup at a time. The result is, no more peanuts can come into this house ... at least not for a while.
DONT BUY JUNK FOOD AND KEEP IT IN YOUR HOUSE!! Go back to the basics. If you hafta binge, binge on carrots or grapes...something with substance. Get off the couch and work out! Curl a dumbell..take a walk..exercise video..anything. I bet if you are working out, you wont be stuffing your face! And if you are...well I may say you are very talented ;) Do that and I bet those 10 lbs will fall off and you will be way more motivated and ready to lose even more. I know you can do it! Let me know how you are doing!
OH and put a pad of paper on the fridge and write down everything you eat. That will keep you in check. I'm gonna start that tomorrow actually :)
Good luck!

Okay...you're a failure.
That felt weird, but it's what you wanted.
Just think of the big picture here. Get back on track with keeping to your calorie limit and the Night of Ice Cream will just be a blip over the long term.

Since I don't believe in negativity, I won't do as you ask.
But I will ask you - what was ice cream doing in your house?

the Ice creme was at my house because.....I live with my family...who are all "on diets too" funny hey. The thing is I asked for MY spot in the fridge and Freezer that I could directly look at and avoid the other no nos that THEY keep bringing in to my house. I am back on track. I can feel it. Today is the Right now I started yesterday, when someone suggested it. My guts are HURTING....and you know my bum is getting bigger...all my work down the drain...but It shows how easy the pounds will come back...
I asked my family to place the tempting food in the deep freeze, which is located in the garage...they didnt, so i did!
Someone call me a winner...(just kidding) but i didnt want that:
its okay, just a bump in the road...yaddy yaddy yadda...I screwed up, now I can deal with it...my bad! Thanks for the help Calorie counters!

I don't agree with the don't keep it in your house mantra. It seems to me to be a method of dealing with a lack of self control. Now, if you have BED, OK, I can buy that need. But there is no reason for the non-BED people to be unable to coexist with a container of ice cream without eating it all in one sitting.
I have a partner in my house. He co-owns the cabinets, freezer, etc. He has as much of a right to bring junk into the house as I have to bring produce into the house.

Your problem isn't self-control. If you're stuffing yourself until you hurt (as you say above), then your problem is very emotional. You're most likely covering up a difficult emotion, and/or trying to produce a familiar comforting sensation with food as opposed to feeling what you're supposed to be feeling at that moment.
The next time you feel the need to binge, query yourself: "What am I covering up right now?" Then challenge yourself to feel what you're about to feel, instead of reaching for the food to produce a different sensation. Even if it's boredom! (Boredom can be very interesting...)
You have options though. You don't need ice cream to stuff yourself to the gills. It's perfectly easy and simple to get totally stuffed on bananas, dates, strawberries, and other sweet fruits. At least then you'll have done something sort of positive for yourself!

it takes up to 3200cal to gain a pound. So the rest of the nine pounds is just water....
Having said that: DONT DO IT AGAIN..... but you are not a failure

Just how good was that ice cream? A while back I was craving a hamberger. I put it off for about two weeks, then finally decided to have one. After eating it I realized it wasn't as great as I was imagining...I actually like chicken better! So, any time you eat junk, ask yourself if it was really worth it.... probably not.

Diana, great point!
I remember when I tried to eat a Wendy's chicken sandwich after about 4 months of not having had any fast food whatsoever. I couldn't believe how much sugar was in the bun! How much mealy corn taste was in the chicken! Blehhh!!! It was amazing to me how quickly my taste buds shifted, and how what I thought was tasty to me before was completely gross and unpalatable after a few healthy changes in my diet.

I used to eat Wendy's chicken sandwiches, but now i eat the the turkey and swiss ciabata,it's yummy.I got tired of their chicken sandwiches, the grilled ones taste yucky and the breaded one have way too much bread.
I agree with not hiding food. It is best if you can develop self control. I bought a half gallon of mint chocolate chip ice cream (my fav) almost a week ago. I still haven't opened it yet!!! Last year I dieted when I went home (away from my boyfriend) and I lost 20 lbs. However, as soon as school started and we spent all the time together, I gained 30lbs. Now, I am dieting with him around, so hopefully that weight gain wont happen. My point is that self control is important not only in losing weight, but also while maintaining. Dieting isnt forever, but maintaining is. Are you going to hide the ice cream forever? I know I wouldn't be able to. It's hard at first, but it gets easier and you'll be surprised at how strong you are!! Good luck!!
last week i binged for 7 days. more than 3000 calories too. i ate random stuff i dont even really like... i made "cookies" out of 8 instant oatmeal packets and just drenched them in ice cream. i made sandwiches with mayonaise and potato chips. but then i was sick of how gross i was feeling (after the 7th day... wow). i couldnt even fit into my pants (only after 7 days!). well, this is my 6th day of decent eating and i still havent lost all that i've gained. just imagine how great you'll feel once you get back on track. i know that once i start eating more healthily and exercising, i feel better. i see results in maybe three days or so. then that keeps me going. during my binge, i actually ate 2 of those half gallon boxes of strawberry ice cream. i dont even LIKE strawbeery ice cream, it's just what we had in the house.
It reallyreally does help to just do away with all things bad. I live with my boyfriend now and he's being helpful and eating the same healthy things I eat and it makes ALL the difference.
Please consider, as you all examine your binge habits and which foods you end up stuffing yourself with, that dairy proteins and wheat proteins are actually physically addictive. Why else would you binge on something you don't even like the taste of? (re: strawberry ice cream)
That zombie, "food coma" feeling people talk about? There's a physiological reason for that.
