Wanted: Competitive person

Quote  |  Reply

So I am a really competitive person and I typically do better with weight loss when I have someone to compete with. By compete I don't mean pounds wise its more of an exercise thing.

So if anyone is interested let me know, what I am looking for is someone to post with everyday about how much they exercised and how many calories they burnt.

Same here.  Very competitive.  I'm interested.

You know what, me too... I'm not much of an exerciser tho so this may just be the kick in the backside I need lol and not rely on pushing a trolley and tidying up as exercise hehe

My aim is getting into better shape, and improving my diet, and if the last few pounds happen to disappear then let them =D

I'm back at uni next week, so am aiming for walking the dogs everyday (or even just me) as I finish relatively early, and am planning on going to the gym at least twice a week too, but mostly for weights rather than cardio.

Will post tomorrow what I've done today.

Good luck!

Fictional and Sweet-

Looks like we start today then. I guess everyday we can post in here how much we worked out and how many calories we burnt so each day we can see where the competition is and try to work harder the next day Smile

I got my cardo in for the day I did the exercise bike:

30 mins

4.10 miles

230 calories

72 fat calories

I will most likely do some strength training later, not sure yet because I am recovering from a knee injury and I might have pushed it too hard on the bike.

9/22: I would like to join in on this too.  I haven't been doing my cardio like I should and I know the accountability will help me out.  Can I join in?  Today I did 25 minutes on the elliptical during my lunch break for 474 calories.

You sure can. Ahhh I miss the elliptical I always burnt so many more calories than I do on the exercise bike!

Busy day and tired.  Only got in a brisk 30 minute walk:

Walk: 30 Minutes

2.5 miles

172 Cal

I think this a wonderful idea. I would love to be able to compare with other women who exercise around the same amount that I do. I got motivated by my boyfriend who lost over one hundred pounds in the last year but he is so beyond my reach in activity wise. I just can't even imagine keeping up. He can burn an average of 3000 calories a day at the gym. I just can't do that. But he did motivate me to jog every morning. Would it be okay if I post my activities too with you guys?

I did get a good walk in yesterday afternoon with my dog so I was stopping every once in while.  I did a moderate walk for 35 minutes for 226 calories.  Yesterday was my first day of re-dedication to working out.  My goal is to do cardio 3-4 times a week with 2-3 days of upper body weight training.  (I can't do the lower body weights bc of a hurt knee.) So yesterday I burned a total of 700 calories and did a total of 1 hour of cardio. Let's just hope I can keep it up but I think this group will help.  THANKS!!

Sammie0325-

I AM IN!  : )  Very excited about this!  What a great idea!

This morning:

warm up (walking):  35 calories

weight training and plyometrics:  approximately 400 calories

cardio (elliptical):  200 calories

Total:  635 calories

I do weights, plyo's, and 20 minutes of cardio 3 x's/wk and strictly cardio 2x's/wk.

Also, I am a personal trainer (in case you need a question answered here and there)

I def over did it yesterday with the bike, my knee is killing me today so I focused on strength training so that i didn't irritate my knee.

I did two sets/ 10 reps of each:

Chest flies on the ball

one-armed fly w/band

Dumbbell pullover

Seated Row

Over head press

Front raise

Bicep curls

Hammer Curls

Triceps Extensions

Dumbbell triceps presses

Squats

Leg lifts

Ball Crunches

Hip Extensions on the ball

40 Mins

203 Calories

Carlyn we would love to have you post, and that is amazing that your BF lost over 100lbs.

Fictional-

At least you took a walk, most people would just hang out and watch tv and say they were too tired to do anything, at least that is what I used to do.

Litzadelgado-

Glad to have you (and might I say DAMN you are in shape!)

Any advice you want to give me after looking at my post would be greatly appreciated. I am staying at 1250 calories a day and I am doing cardo on an exercise bike 3x's a week and trying to do strength in combination with light cardo 2x's a week. However I am recovering from a knee injury (Aug 2 I fell and now I have a strained knee, I've been doing PT for a month now, so I just have to be careful how hard I push it).

-Sam

Khathen-

I am suffering from an injured knee, if you want I can share some of the PT exercises that I have that will strength your quads and hamstrings.

Thanks!

I really enjoy reading about what you guys do. I usually stick to the treadmill for complete cardio 5 times a week until I get closer to my goal. Sometimes I try to throw in the jump rope for a 2nd workout. My bf says I should also incorporate his weighted vest and just walk on the treadmill, too. I plan on doing more strength training soon, also. Today I did:

2.5 mile jog 361 cal

1.25 mile jog 200 cal (had to break it up for baby)

Walked to grocery store instead of driving- 1.25 hours at about 3-3.5mph 302 cal

Total-863 cal

Sam-

What I am getting from your post is that you're trying to get a full body workout everytime you do strength training (right?).  I am glad that you are not limiting yourself to carido since studies show that incorporating strength training in your exercise regimine is so beneficial-not only for body structure, but weight loss as well.  Many people believe that strength training will just "bulk" you up...not true, if you have a goal, know how to reach it, and perform exercises the way you should (number of reps, number of sets, and resting time in between).

Since you are seeing a PT, you might want to get specific information from him/her as to what exercises, intensity, and amount of time you should be doing with your legs.  You don't want to over do it because recovery will be so much worse, and you may re-injur your knee.

Thank you for your compliment, BUT I no longer have "that" body.  That was in September 2007.  I trained with an amazing personal trainer (which is why I got certified).  I went from 32 percent body fat to 14 percent body fat within 6 months.  It was very hard and painful, but his guidance and my determination gave me great results.  It's not a regimine (eating-wise) that is realistic to follow for a lifetime.  I did it because I was doing a fitness calendar.  Now, I just want to get semi-close to that because I have let myself go.  (Can't find my abs-LOL!)

Litza

Carlyn,

I LOVE the weighted vest!!!  If you don't have any health/physical problems, try doing some stairs with that thing on!!!!  Torture during-but you'll be so happy and proud of yourself afterwards!  : )

Litza-

That right I want to work all of my muscle groups so that as I lose weight I tighten everything up I don't want to be flappy once I drop the weight.

If you could do it once I am sure you can do it again, and now you will have everyone on the board watching and making sure you are exercising Smile

For 9/23/08

30 Minutes Weight Training.
