Wanting to eat more at night
Im not really hungry in the mornings but i do eat something so i can jumpstart my metabolism then i eat a bigger lunch at noon so i dont eat big at night but at night i can't get enough to eat! What can i do about nighttime and wanting to binge? Anyone here that used to have that problem and have any solutions?

Yes, I had that problem, and I still do, but I'm learning to control it. What I do is drink something instead of eating. Swiss Miss has a fat free hot chocolate-- 70 calories, I believe-- that is pretty satisfying. Once I have something like that, I don't feel the urge to stuff my face anymore.
I would also suggest eating a smaller lunch (if you know you're going to get hungry later on in the day anyway, why waste the calories trying to fill up on just one meal?) and have a snack in between lunch and dinner if you don't already. Keep you calorie intake at a balanced level throughout the day instead of eating a lot at one meal, almost nothing at another, and then binging at night. I hope this helps.
I do this too.
It seems like I can eat well all day but no matter what, I always seem to start getting a lot hungrier at night, especially around 10 PM or so. I think a lot of it is due to boredom and/or wanting some extra energy to stay up. Finger foods like cut up raw veggies or rice cakes help to distract me.
If I don't have a proper dinner, I sometimes raid the fridge and pantry. I guess since I didn't feel satisfied, I keep trying until I do. Stupid huh?
My suggestions: Eat a proper dinner...don't eat something too tiny and make sure you actually enjoy it. Also, brew a cup of tea, coffee, or cocoa. You can sip on it for a while and maybe you'll feel a little fuller and/or the urge may be over by then.
I guess i am a grazer really? Small meals satisfy me more i guess. The reason i try to eat my big meal at lunch is that i have more time to burn it off i guess. Then by the end of the night im out of calories. OH well back to the drawing board. Thanks guys for your suggestions i will try them.

I talked to my trainer about my tendency to want to binge in the evenings. Sometimes because I feel hungry, because I'm bored, or sometimes to not want to feel what ever emotion it is that I don't like at the time. Her suggestion was:
- Two tablespoons apple cider vinegar, one tablespoon honey, 1/4 cup (or less) of hot water. Stir and drink.
It gets rid of the cravings and banances your bodies alkaline level (or something like that). All I know is that it works!
Sometimes when I think about wanting to binge I say to myself, "well, I can either drink some of that nasty stuff and not eat, or just not eat." Sometimes that is enough to recommit to eating healthy...
Give it a try and let us know how it works out.
At night I like hot tea with a little bit of skim milk and splenda. It's a nice sweet treat and hot drinks in the winter time are the best!
Go to bed. You're tired, not hungry.
I get hungry at night too--not for a binge, just for a snack, so I try to leave 200 calories for a snack right before bed. If I'm hungry, it takes forever to fall asleep. My suggestion is for you to eat less in the morning and at lunch, so you have more calories to work with for dinner and an evening snack. But binging in general I think is a sign that you are either trying to cut too many calories and your body is rebelling, or you aren't getting the right nutrients from what you are eating. Each main meal of your day should contain all the major nutrients - protein, good fats, and carbohydrates (unrefined as much as possible) - as well as veggies or fruit.
l wa shungry a lot at night in the begining and the people on this board told me it could be boredom, and when l started finding things to do to replace eating at night, that 'hunger' went away, if you are hungry then eat but when that hunger comes at the same time every night, you might have to reevaluate that hunger.
