Wanting to lose 10 pounds.

I have been in college for 9 weeks and already gained 13 pounds. I do not know what to do, i try to choose healthy food but always eat some sort of desert.  I power-walk and go on random walks all the time but the weight keeps on adding.  I HAVE to loose weight or at least look healthier! PLEASE HELP... WHAT DI I NEED TO DO TO LOOSE 10 POUNDS?!?!?

I used to have the desert problem when I first got to school because of the cafeteria's abundance of sweets.  Definitely try to avoid the deserts though because they have NO benefits, especially while you're trying to lose weight.  Maybe try eating a small bowl of cereal for something sweet instead of the ice cream, or fill up on an extra plate of vegetables so that you might not be as hungry for the sweets.  Lastly, I find that eating a mint or chewing on some gum helps satisfy that sweet tooth.

I myself am going to college and active duty. I am trying to lose an extra 10 pounds also. I know that going to school is busy and that when it comes to eating I don't have a lot of options when needing to eat in a hurry. So far what I have been doing is trying slim-fast when i'm going in between classes or/and work and don't have time to eat. So far I've cut down 5 lbs. I just need 10 more to go. I also chew orbits gum so that I get my sweet tooth satisfaction. hope that helps.

I've been putting on weight since I turned 40.  Extra exercise just makes me extra hungry!  I do not have to eat in a cafeteria, but live with hubby & son that are stick-thin and like to eat the biggest burgers & pizzas all the time.

I'm trying to substitute frozen berries with 0% greek yoghurt & cereal or whole fruit like bananas or apples for deserts.  They fill me up for longer and at least they're nutritious.  Have to watch out for cereals that are high sugar though.  Can you take fruit to college with you for emergency snacks?

I've budged 1lb in 10 days - can't even be sure that isn't fluctuating fluid retention....but at least I didn't put any on (at 5'1" I don't have anywhere to hide it!)

I also just got to college and started gaining weight as soon as I got here!  I loved the pieces of cakes that were in the dining halls, but learned the hard way that that wasn't a good idea.

I try to drink chocolate milk during my meal to take care of my sweet tooth.  Or eat fruit for dessert instead of the cake.

Another thing that I noticed is that when I stopped eating sweets regularly, they would start to taste too sweet for me.  It sounds crazy but I even started mixing my chocolate milk with skim milk.  Just try to substitute the dessert for something a little healthier and it will turn into a good habit.
