Who wants to start a new round of 30 Day Shred with me!?
So I'm jumping the gun a little, cause I don't actually have it yet ;o) But I thought this way we'd have a couple days for people to rev up, see the topic, jump on board etc. and then we could all start it together! February doesn't have 30 days anyway, so we don't have to start at the first of the month :o)
On day 1, we can post:
Starting weight:
Goal weight (at the end of 30 days):
Goal weight (final goal weight):
Calories to eat each day and deficit:
Measurements (chest, below breast, waist, hips, individual thighs, calves, upper arm and lower arm, or whatever else you want to measure):
Anything else you want to add! Anyone interested? I heard this is a lot of fun but difficult, so I'm looking for any support I can get! The idea is to do it EVERY day for 30 days and post real results! I'll post when I have the movie and we can pick a day to start - sound good to anyone?
I'm getting a late start because I slept in this morning. I'll be trying level 2 in about 15 minutes.
Wish me luck! :)

Is anybody doing anything along side their 30-day shred video. I usually either go on the treadmill or elliptical or sometimes both for about 30 mintues or I'll do till I burn 300-500 calories. Yesterday I only did the video because it was getting late and I wanted to go to sleep. Today however, I am going to do the video then go on the treadmill for 20 mintues then the elliptical to burn approximately 300 cal. Unfortunately, when I weighed in this morning, I went from 152 to 153.4 so we shall see how it is going.
I run on my elliptical and throw in some pilates occasionally. I try to get some ab workouts in because I never feel any burn in my ab area with the 30 day shred dvd. I've only done level one so far so maybe that's why? My arms and legs kill me afterwards though!
Based on my info, I burn about 272 calories just from the video, so really it depends on how much I want to eat whether I'll do another workout or not lol. Like tonight, I'd really like a 1000 calorie deficit for the day, so I need to do a 20 min video to burn off another couple hundred calories.
Holy Moly! That's a tough one for my shoulders! I pooped out on the last few twist/planks.
And I still can't jump well.
But I did it! ![]()
So how many days did you do Level 1 before switching? I'm just curious how other people are choosing to switch levels. How different are the workouts? My left quad is killing me from the squats and lunges in level 1. Oi!
I just wanted to try it out. I've only done lvl1 3 times.
You won't get a break from the lunges and squats in lvl2...sorry...
I will probably switch between the two until I can complete level 1 totally before trying lvl3.
It's now Thursday and still no sign of the video.. I better get it tomorrow.. I'm getting REALLY impatient here!!! Gahhhhhhhh...
I usually do Turbo Jam before I do 30 day shred. I either do the 20 minute workout, or the 40 minute cardio party depending on how I feel. I can't do it after because my thighs are in too much pain!!
How's everyone doing??? Today is day 4 for me and I found in my last workout (#3, not Level 3 lol) that I could do more. The cardio was easier, some of the weights were easier etc. Also I know it's more to do with diet than anything else, but I'm noticing better weight loss (okay and I think before I was fooling myself as to how much popcorn I was really eating lol). I've been keeping my deficit around 750 a day and I'm seeing the scale move a tiny bit daily.
I think I"m going to stick with level 1 for a couple more days and then give level 2 a try, maybe starting Monday? Anyone with me? We can whine together? Does anyone else HATE Jillian by the end of the workout? lol
Yes, I too hate Jillian. Wait until you memorize all her little cues. I am starting the 30 DS for the second 30 days. Today is day 3. This time I am rotating through the levels rather than sticking with the same level for 10 days straight.
Personally, I think Level 2 is the hardest b/c you spend a lot of time weight bearing on your arms.
I will whine anytime!
Can I join here? I started yesterday though (February 7th, 09)
Age: almost 30 (will be 30 in two months, so...)
Height: 5'1-1/2"
Current weight:170.5
Goal weight (at the end of 30 days):160
Goal weight (final goal weight): 134
Calories to eat each day and deficit:1446, 795
Chest: 37.5
waist (natural): 33
waist (navel) : 39 ![]()
hips: 44.5
upper thigh: 26.75
arm: 10.75
calf: 16.25
I'm going to do Day 2 tonight and will keep you posted. Let's see if I see some results after level 1 (that is, after 10 days).
I'm taking the weekend off. I don't feel very good today. Hopefully I'll be back at it tomorrow.
Ugh I feel you, I was feeling pretty sick today too but my hubby wouldn't let me get out of it LOL, so I did it anyway, not my best work, but I made it through. Then spent the rest of the day in bed drinking tea and watching movies.
It was my Day 2, Level 1. It was easier doing the jumping jacks and I did perfect push-ups (my hubby is my supervisor
, he said it!!) and my reverse crunches were also better. But I got sore on the sides of my knee muscles (don't know what they are called...and don't know whether I'm expressing it right...). So I'm thinking whether I'll be able to do it right tomorrow...especially the side lunges.
Anybody felt this way?
Usually if my knees start bothering me it's because my form is off. (There are some exercises I can't do because of knee problems, but none on this DVD)
Make sure that your knees aren't bending past your toes and push through your heels on the lunges (and squats, too). For the side ones, check that the knee of the straight leg isn't turning inward.
Hmm....thank you! My knees don't hurt though, but the sides...and it is muscular pain/sore. But I'll keep in mind your suggestions!![]()
OK, finally got the DVD and some weights. I have to work till 7:30 tonight and I think I'm going to be too wiped to work out, but I will definitely start tomorrow.
This DVD does sound good. Is there a british equivalent? I would order a US copy, but all of the ones I have seen only play on US DVD players :(
Maybe check amazon.co.uk for a British version.
So I was bad and did not work out yesterday, Day 6. I went hiking earlier in the day and when I got back my hip was hurting awful. I laid down for a while and took some tylonal, and woke up 4 and a half hours later at 9 30pm! Since I was having trouble walking I figured maybe it wasn't the best idea to work out.
BUT I'm back today, still in some pain but I don't want to miss two days in a row. And less than a week since we started and I've already lost 2.2 lbs!
BTW I've heard YouTube has the 30 Day Shred on it too somewhere. I haven't checked but maybe. Also, your DVD-rom should play US videos, right? I don't have a DVD player (or TV for that matter) so I watch it on my computer every day.
