Warning - all tape measures are not created equal!
I've been using my trusty tape measure that my mother gave me years ago but I broke the case so I bought a new cheap tape measure instead... and the new measure is much less forgiving! The old one had a pull-tab on the end and for ease of measurement I was using that as the end-point which took half an inch off my numbers (oops)... but even allowing for that, if you line up the zero mark on each of them the new measure is smaller. Actually it lines up perfectly next to my hard metal ruler... but if you put the old one beside it, by the time you get to 12 inches the old tape measure is a full 1/2 inch out - so when you're measuring your body it really adds up! It was a nasty surprise to find out that I'm a full 2-inches fatter around than I always thought I was. :(

Oh man! This is how I felt when I found out recently that I am really 5'3" instead of 5'5"!!
I was pretty bummed about it for a few days. Don't really know why...
So, when I changed my info. on CC, it lowered my calorie count from 1300 to 1250.
That is not do-able for me so I lengthened my goal date by a couple months and now my calorie intake is 1382.
Slow and steady wins the race!
How discouraging! On the bright side, you can still assume your changes in measurements are legit ![]()
In fact... all this time you've been underestimating any changes you've seen so far. Look for the silver lining!
maybe after all that use for all those years the old one just got stretched out :P I doubt it was taht far off when your mom bought it, haha
yeah i have two tape measures at home, one says that i am 5'2.... the other says 5'3... I don't know which one is really correct (its not THAT big of a difference) so usually i just say I'm 5'2 AND A HALF, best of both worlds!
