I'm not trying to lose, but this question can be answered by anyone, and i figured more people would respond in the weight loss forum since that's most people's goals..anyway...

so, i weighed myself 2 days ago and i felt a little heavier than usual. so today, after my workout i pooped....kind of a lot. and i felt lighter and normal. you know, without that heavy feeling in my stomach. so i weighed again.

i am actually in maintenance right now, but anyway. i was down .6 pounds from 2 days ago after pooping.

which weight should i take as my "actual weight" since every time i weigh I don't get such a "good poop" in. Is my actual weight still closer to the one today, the lighter one, or the heavier one? which would you accept as the comparison point?

thanks!!

Your 'actual weight' was totally correct both pre and post poop....  Body-weight isn't a fixed thing but changes constantly......  which is why it doesn't pay to be hopping on and off scales all the time.   You could weigh 10 times a day and get 10 different numbers.  I'd go with your weight from 2 days ago and check again the same day next week.   Anything in between is just 'fluctuations'.

it doesn't matter.  there is no "actual weight."  do what you want.

i'd take the after you went, because poop shouldn't count as part of your weight.  just seems reasonable.

Logging whichever weight changes nothing - if it makes you feel a little more optimistic about your weight by logging the lower one, log that. If you feel like that will make you upset tomorrow, when you weigh and you are closer to the higher weight, log that one.

In other words, since both weights are "real" log whichever one will keep you feeling positive and upbeat about your maintenance.

log both 2 days ago and today and look at the 'trend line'.

i guess that makes sense. just goes to show how much your weight can fluctuate in only a few days due to the body's natural functions. i think i'll make my maintenance range 3 pounds, so between 2 fixed points is okay. is that what most people do? just trying to make the best and most logical choices to prevent any sort of mishap. :) thanks for the replies.

oh, and just thought i'd add. i'm smart enough to know that weight fluctuates and as a result i don't even weigh myself daily, but i knew when i weighed that i was heavier than usual, i could feel it. so, i don't hop on and off many times a day as suggested here. i'm really not that obsessive about it.  :)

AH!!! I love a good old fashion POOP! ha ha ha! I am not embarrassed to talk about it because after all of my colon problems and having to talk about taking poops with everyone I know... it's just second nature now AH HA HA! If I were you I'd always go with the post poop weight - after all you are eliminating stuff that's not suppose to be in there for too long... The stuff your body holds on to is your weight: AKA: your organs, etc!

My weight fluctuates daily but within a range I don't mind so I am perfectly content. You should let your body have a 3 pound weight range plus or minus - just so you don't stress out too much over it!

HAPPY POOPING! Wish me luck now! HA HA HA!

I would take your weight after your poop as accurate as it is after all waste matter and not a true reflection of your body weight. Which is why if I weigh a pound or two more when I am bunged up or bloated I don't worry.

Personally I always weigh myself in the morning. As long as you aren't dehydrated then you can assume that weight is accurate, but as others have said you will weigh different amounts at different times in the day. People tend to be heavier towards the evening due to the amount of food consumed throughout the day, which is why I think a morning weighing is the most accurate.
