Okay, so when i'm hungry i get a bit careless with checking the calorie counting and nutrition facts. I search through my freezer and find an instant beef rice bowl with veggies. I quickly check calories; 190, not bad right? wrong! 190 calories per SERVING, the tiny rice bowl, intended to be a quick hunger fix, was considered 3 servings! so I ended up eating the whole thing without knowing, which cost me a whopping 570 calories for a snack! UGH I'm so mad!

lesson: check how many servings per container.

It happens, that's how they get you. Kind of like Ramen, it's 190 per serving but contains 2.5 servings and most people add meat to their noodles so they end up eating 600 calories :[

The one I used to fall for was how on some packaging, I got use to seeing 1 tb. or 2 tb. for serving and the parallel calories for each.  But occasionally some food will have tsp instead of tb  and I missed it sometimes.  Also,  many seasonings will list a "serving" as 1/4th tsp. or something like that.  Well, they then put 0% for all nutrientional information.  But when I actually check the Net to find the nutritional information, I find out that 2 tbs. or 1/4th cup or some larger measurement has definite amounts of calories, sodium, etc.

Yeah, nutrition labels are allowed to round down, so .9 magically becomes 0.  Sometimes you can check things out online to find more exact measurements, but sometimes you just have to be careful.  If 0 seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Rice, white bread, potatoes, corn, pasta, etc are rich in calories. There is no way a bowl of rice with meat in it will be 190 cals.

A pack of plain instant ramen (60g before adding water) is 270 cals.
