Warrior Diet

Quote  |  Reply
So...I used to live off one meal a day.  I would have a latte for breakfast and a small mid-afternoon snack and then a balanced dinner.  Let me tell you...it was wonderful.  (The only reason I stopped was because someone convinced me that it would hurt my metabolism...ha!).  I lost weight at a steady rate and never hit a plateau.  I had an incredible amount of energy and was the least lazy I had ever been.  AND I went without getting sick for FOUR years.  I naturally made healthier choices and ate small portions.  I called it my "Survivor diet".  The Warrior Diet tells you to undereat all day (on only raw veggies, fruit and a little lean protein) and then "overeat" at night.  This method works!  Does anyone want to join me?  I'm sick of my life revolving around food.

It sounds like your life already revolves around food.

The only change that helped me lose weight and keep losing it is counting my calories.  I did lose weight several times through exercise and other stuff... but nothing quite like learning portion control and so on through counting calories.

I wish you luck.  I haven't been ill much of my life at all.  Even when overeating and gaining weight I didn't get sick.

Well, congrats that your method works to well for you.  I don't think I would have much energy during the day if I did that and I would be pretty useless at my office then.

u have my full support!!! if it helps u lose weight and feel better then ROCK ON!!!! Innocent

I like eating more balanced meals. I need more energy in the morning than I do in the evening anyway. If this plan works for you than great, but I don't think I'd like it. =/

I actually ate like that for about a year, not to fit a diet plan or anything, but because I had a free dinner every night, and I needed money.  So I would eat two plates of food for dinner, but only a banana and a handful of cereal (if that) during the day.

I did lose weight by doing this, but I wouldn't recommend it.  I think this causes you to lose weight because your body can't process all of the food you put into it at once, so more of the food is excreted.

I use to do this a year ago.  I would have a bag of popcorn in the a.m. and an apple in the afternoon.  Then I would eat a GIGANTIC dinner!  I mostly maintained though.  I find I maintain about the same spreading it all out now....I also have much more energy through out the day and I'm not a total bee-otch!

what are you supposed to eat for your gigantic dinner meal? are there restrictions or is it a free for all?

I would see how this would work.  I mean if you only ate:

100 breakfast

100 lunch

1000 dinner

....then of course you would lose!  It doesn't matter how you spread it out.  This probably works for you guys because you may enjoy eating more in the evening.  I would do it only I don't think I would have any energy.
There was a post just yesterday about this same concept called 5 something or other the concept is about the same, you get a 5 hour window in which to eat in the evening.

I did this last summer and am doing it this summer again. I find that after doing it for a couple weeks, I get used to it and just don't notice that I'm not eating or feel hungry in the mornings or afternoons. I still calorie count, it's just that I'm not limited to eating 400 calorie dinners. I typically eat a piece of fruit an hour or so ahead of eating dinner (that way if it takes me a few hours to prepare dinner, no biggie).
I eat this way a lot now and it is mostly because of my lifestyle. I get coffee in the morning (regular, latte but I don't go crazy with it) then I go to work (which starts at 11am) I work until about 4 and then I eat a meal and then I'm not hungry again until around 9ish I eat a snack and then I go to bed or go out or do something---But if I have a day where I go out to breakfast at 10 am I still get hungry and will still eat later on in the day when I am---I'm not depriving myself but this eating pattern is just the one that fits the best with my life.

I've come under a lot of fire for it, people in my life think I am starving myself (I am eating between 1200-1500 calories a day) which I am not at all. I'm not hungry, I'm not crabby, I'm happy and I'm losing weight. I am totally with you on this one and I am going to keep eating like this because it works for me.

If it works, it works! I never have much of an appetite when I get up, so I just eat a banana or something (occasionally something else small but calorie and fat dense, like avocado on toast). I do get hungry at lunch time when my schedule is normal, and now it isn't. So my breakfast takes place at what is traditionally lunchtime. And there's nothing better than having a great satisfying dinner as far as food goes. A calorie is a calorie. I don't think it matters when you have them, although there have been studies to indicate that it's healthiest to have a balanced breakfast, but we all have unique psysiology. Your own body knows best.

Honestly, if someone told you to eat 4 jelly beans-, 1 red, 1green, 1 yellow and 1 pink (in that order only) 1 per hour for a week, nothing else but you would shed 15 pounds....you would be the first in line.

I beg of you, take a nutrition class and please read these boards.

hmmm...sm1s getting personal?! but then again if sm1 calls himself coffee we cnt expect to find much grey matter....oh well *sigh*

Tried it.

Was always hungry.

I prefer the nibble from breakfast until bedtime method. (with no real "meals")

My food cravings have gone away, I have more energy, I feel great,

and I easily stay within a 1500-1700 calorie range.

And there's no more screaming when it comes time to eliminate those monster

meals that the Warrior diet advocates***

*** This is a joke, this is only a joke, had this been a serious statement you would have been instructed where to tune in your area for news and official information. This is only a joke.

Oddly enough, like you, I can go all day on just about nothing.  I find that I, too, have more energy if I DON'T eat.  I've found that if I eat lunch I am lethargic in the afternoon.  I keep getting told that this isn't good for the body and will, ultimately, lead to a downfall.   Night is my downfall when it comes to eating so I've changed my way of thinking.  I'm still a believer in calories in, calories out and I exercise most days...but...I don't eat much during the day and save the majority of calories for dinner....seems to work for me and gets me though the remainder of the day without dipping into the potato chip bag or leftover chocolate...  Who knew there was a name on it!!!
