Hey guys.....does it honestly help you lose weight faster by drinking lots of water (like 70 ounces a day)?? I have looked this up on the internet, but each site has different answers. I know water is healthy for the body no matter what, but I want to know if it is going to actually help me lose some fat! Thanks :)
yess do it
It's supposed to keep you full and fight cravings. It differs from person to person, but try it, see if it works for you.
Drinking water makes you feel fuller so you don't eat as much.
This is what Dr. Oz said on Oprah: "Water's great to lose weight. It satisfies your satiety center. You don't get the urge to eat quite as much," he says. "It's got lots of benefits that go beyond its ability to affect your skin, but you don't have to force fluids to get that benefit." http://www.oprah.com/slideshow/oprahshow/slid eshow1_ss_oz_20070917_350/12
Interestingly, he also says drinking water makes no difference to your skin (as long as you're not dehydrated) since we get enough water from our food... I thought that was interesting since I've heard many times that drinking tons of water is good for your skin.

Also in rare cases you can die from drinking too much water. http://health.howstuffworks.com/water-intoxic ation.htm Too much makes your sodium levels drop too much and it can kill you, but I'm thinking they're talking about gallons of water a day to get that effect.
Drink the water. The more water you drink.. The more toxins you flush out of your system. SO drink the water. It's better than these people who drinks 2 liters of coke. I drink 70 to 80 oz a day. So what's the big deal... 70oz of water isn't going to hurt you at all.. DRINK UP!

Actually, water doesn't "flush toxins." That job isn't done by the kidneys, but by the liver. Too much water just makes your kidneys work harder. Most people need 2 liters of fluids a day, more if you are sweating or in a very hot climate. In the desert you might need 3 times that.
When you feel hungry, having a drink of water does help delay the hunger in my experience.
Water actually makes me hungrier. I feel it raises my metabolism.
Water does help remove waste and toxins from your body.

From my own experience, I tend to lose weight better when I'm drinking a lot of water. Although for me personally, I need to drink at least 80 oz to get that effect. But, I'm also quite larger than the average person (and probably even quite larger than the average CCer on here).
Do take note, though, that the best way to burn fat is by doing weight training and cardio combined, from what everything seems to say. So if you're looking to burn fat, get moving.

I notice a change in my body once I stopped drinking pop.. I felt better. My whole body improved. Skin, hair, BM, TOM, and even my metabolism.
I recently found out that I only need about 2.5L of water a day to maintain maximum organ function and bodily functions.
That being said, when I was obese, I required a lot more water. If you search for "bloating," under the forum search option, dig a little bit and you'll find a calculator that will tell you how much water you need a day. I drank about a gallon and a half when I was overweight and I lost my first 20/30 lbs. very quickly -- I realized at the time that this was because I was very dehydrated, and the foods I ate did not provide adequate moisture.
Hello,
lets first talk about calories and what a calorie is: 1 calorie is the amount of energy required to increase the temperature of 1 liter of water by 1 C degree. so from that point of view, this is what i do:I drink 5 x 500 ml pints of water every day (with plenty of ice in it), that is 2.5 litrers, letes make it 3 liters. if i drink the water at 1 degree C, then my body uses 37 calories increasing the temperature to 37 which is the temperature it leaves the body at when you pee. so for 3 liters is 111 calories extra burned a day, plus you keep yourself hydrated and, in my case, when i drink water i dont feel as hungry.
I've heard that drinking ice water is bad for your heart. If you have a heart condition, when the ice water constricts your blood vessels on the way to your stomach it can cause problems.
When I asked my doctor how much water I should drink, he said "as much as it takes to make your urine very light yellow to clear." That's the best way to tell if you're getting enough water- not some arbitrary online calculator.

Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
