I know that I need to drink water I just cannot get into the habit. Please share your advice for establishing a good water habit.
Thanks!
Thanks!
I bought a Nalgene water bottle and keep it at my desk. I also carry it with me wherever I go and that seems to help. I also try to chug water before I go to the bathroom. I'm not really sure why I do it but now it's a habit and I get tons of water doing that. It's kind of like a vicious cycle, lol. Try drinking water while you eat in between every bite.
Now, the only 2 drinks I keep in my fridge are water and iced coffee. :)

I chug before the bathroom, too. It just makes sense!
I joined the Water Challenge for June, too, so I will be more accountable for drinking it. I usually do pretty well, though. In January I drank 4 liters of soda a day, and gave it all up for Lent. I have kept it up, and only drink water, with a soda only once or twice a week, and only caffeine free diet then.

at home, i always have a glass of water next to me, and i keep a tally sheet on the fridge door to track how often i fill it.
i never ever leave the house without at least one water bottle, and i fill them about 1/2 full with ice cubes to keep the water fresh. i also keep a couple of plastic water bottles 1/2 full in the freezer to fill and take with me in the summer, because nobody likes to drink hot water.
i try to get my quota in by about 8pm so i don't have to get up to pee every hour all night!

Those are all good ideas
AND...
the chugging water before you go to the bathroom made me laugh out loud!

I couldnt get myself to drink water either. I actually was a 12 pack of diet soda a day. I just replaced 2-3 of the sodas a day for water and made sure i drink 2 cups of faucet water before i went to bed every night, the rest came naturally. I now drink 6-8 glasses of water a day. Diet pepsi sorry, but you will not get anymore of my money.
I never was a large soda drinker, but I do recommend the nalgene suggestion.
I tend to carry a water bottle with me wherever I go. Might sound excessive, but it's definitely worth it.
Also find a way to motivate yourself, such as the june water challenge that's coming up.
Just a suggestion

I got a bottle that holds the daily recommended and fill it and add crystal light on the go Cherry Pomagranente to it. And it's right next to me most the time. I actually end up feeling it again sometimes.
Here is a thread that I put together:
Interesting Facts: Importance of Drinking Water
As for how I try to get more water in, I have a big 32 oz cup/mug that I fill with ice water that I keep next to me when I'm on the computer. I also bring a bottle of water with me when I go out. I sign up for the water challenges each month (I am overseeing the one for June) - and I try to drink water instead of soda.

I didn't drink much of anything, as I gave up sodas a few years ago, and was hardly ever thirsty, so drinking water for me was a bit of a challenge as well. When I tried drinking 64 oz of water a day at first I was running to the bathroom every hour or even more! But I was also drinking large amounts at one time.
What I decided to do was break it up. I have 4 16-oz bottles at work that I fill up with tap water (saves $$) every day. I then set specific times for which I need to drink them (and, as mentioned above, try to end it before 8-9 pm so I don't have to get up at night). For instance, I'll have to have one finished (even if I have to chug it) before 11:00 am; the next one by 2:00pm, the next one by 5:00 pm and the last one by 8:00 pm (I work long hours). If I keep it on my desk at work, I find myself "drinking mindlessly" as I do my work, and now I don't often have to "chug" any more! In fact, I've now started keeping a "car and home" 24-oz bottle with me because I've become so used to having water around me at all times.
As a treat, I buy the "travel-packs" of the drink mixes (or green tea mixes) and will allow myself one flavored bottle a day, whenever I'm having the hardest time just drinking plain water. I suppose I could do it more, if it helped, but I get tired of the flavors if I have them too often.
I've found that I am now enjoying the taste of plain, cold water, though, more and more. Who'd have thunk it?

I don't let myself go to the bathroom until I finish the glass or bottle thats in front of me - then I go. Then I will go again in no time, cause I keep drinking that water....

To me, tea and especially herbal tea is water. I realize the caffeine in black tea could be a problem, but I find myself drinking probably a liter of herbal and then a liter of green or white or both. And then I drink water on top of that.
I bought a 1 liter bottle of water, and just refill it. I make sure that I drink at least 2 a day, and I'm set.
Katydid, that is EXACTLY what I do also as it seems so much more doable when I only have to drink 2 of those instead of 6 small ones etc. Often I find I end up filling it 3 or 4 times now I am so accustomed to drinking water. I LOVE IT. I dare say I am a water addict now.
i have started drinking more water in work because it between meals is where i usally nibble - hence the weight gain of huge proportions.
i now drink 1.5 litres minimum a day in work excluding the decaffeinated coffee in the house and the one diet drink in the evening.

I drink so much water during the day that I lost count---but now I tally up how much I drink---and every time I go to the bathroom, I drink another glass. lol
i find it so hard to finish 2 1ltr bottles in a day seems so much water! i tend to carry a 1ltr bottle with me or a 500ml bottle and refill it but i never seem to drink the 2ltrs a day. i like what Zarelha said about drinking the bottles before it reaches a certain time ive noted them down and will defo try that!
i used to be a heavy coffee drinker mind it was decaf and soya milk but have recently switched to green tea with nothing added, which adds to water intake i guess

thaks for reminding me to drink!! just had two pints lol.
I WAS NEVER A BIG FAN OF DRINKING WATER, BUT I STARTED BUYING THE CRYSTAL LIGHT SINGLE CRYSTALS. THEY TASTE GREAT. SINCE THEN, I USUALLY HAVE 1 OR 2 BOTTLES PER DAY WITH THE CRYSTAL LIGHT, AFTER I HAVE A COUPLE WITHOUT IT, KIND OF MAKE IT A TREAT.
I am a water addict. I drink around 4L per day. I cannot go anywhere without my water bottle - even a 5 minute run to the store, the water bottle comes with me in the car. I just love, love, love it. I think the more you incorporate drinking water into your day, the more you will enjoy it - kind of an aquired taste.
