How much is too much water?
Hi everybody...
I've always been a water drinker. I drink water alll day at work. I've absolutely love water. Is it possible to hampe your diet by drinking too much? I've heard of drinking too much water.. but really, how much is too much? As a point of reference, I'm male, 6'1", and 270lbs.
Thanks in advance for any responses,
Jake

It is nearly impossible to drink too much water, but you should not consume more than 3 liters an hour, or 100 ounces a day.
Since your body is always ridding itself of water, sweating, and other excretions, you always need to replace the water that your body is naturally getting rid of.
Our kidneys are equipped to efficiently process fifteen liters of water a day. That's equivalent to drinking about sixty glasses of water!
So don't worry. I've read in many places that you can drink between 1-2 gallons of water a day and that would be the max. Even one gallon is tough though... my mother had to for her illness and could barely do it every day.

look at this
It's Not How Much You Drink, It's How Fast You Drink It!
The kidneys of a healthy adult can process fifteen liters of water a day! You are unlikely to suffer from water intoxication, even if you drink a lot of water, as long as you drink over time as opposed to intaking an enormous volume at one time. As a general guideline, most adults need about three quarts of fluid each day. Much of that water comes from food, so 8-12 eight ounce glasses a day is a common recommended intake. You may need more water if the weather is very warm or very dry, if you are exercising, or if you are taking certain medications. The bottom line is this: it's possible to drink too much water, but unless you are running a marathon or an infant, water intoxication is a very uncommon condition.

Thanks for the fast responses, it makes sense! I probably drink close to a gallon a day, it's pretty spread out.
WOW I have always heard that you should drink half your body weight in ounces of water which would put some people well over 100oz..
I drink 3-4L a day, so about 100-130 oz a day. No problems, in fact my skin is great since I started doing it.
I drink 130 oz of water just at work! I drink a ridiculous amount of water and the only set backs I have found are going #1 every 30-45 minutes and waking up at 2am to have to go again... lol.
no water intox here! I've been drinking this much water for a few months now. It's all I drink!
